  1. I actually really like this idea @pushbutton ! ! ! Doctor Who is a timeless classic and such an area would truly add a unique entertainment offering that would further broaden the diversity of the Park. -That's something that's very much inline with current management's vision. Sure, this topic is about blue sky and dreaming big however to truly move on from the scars of the past, dreaming big is exactly what Ardent need to do with the DW business right now. I believe the Doctor might be just the right medicine?
  2. I wouldn't stress too much peeps - the elevation of the Train above the track will put you above your precious holy grail of 200 feet ?
  3. Reading about this was certainly one effective way to fall asleep..
  4. I can't say for SW because I honestly don't know however both MW and DW have had many days over the years significantly exceeding 10000 visitors during busy holiday periods. I am only aware of one occasion when MW closed it's doors refusing more guests after hitting over 12000 visitors. That was in their first Xmas of 1991 and the conditions (in particular the staff working at the time) were horrendous!
  5. Hahahahahahahahaha I am old enough to remember back that far? It was definately the Zumer. My brother and I use to swing the chairs back and forth raising you higher and higher. Rarely did we get in trouble for doing that back in the day hehe I would certainly hope the chains and other pieces have been replaced a few times over it's lifetime. When considering ages of such rides, consider the old Waveswinger at Magic Mountain that later went on to Wonderland and still operating on the circuit today
  6. The umbrella ride you are referring to is the 'Supertrooper' - one of my all time fave flats. Alas thus never made it to DW. The ride you are referring to on the map is the Zumer - as known formally - the chair swing ride that today resides with Puss in boots and os one of the very few remaining original attractions.
  7. That was a shallow water feature similar to the one at the entry only had no fountain. It had radio control boats in it for much of it's existence and I recall an ice skating ring set over it for one Holiday Attraction.
  8. Common sense tells me the fact that our TOT only makes it to about the "F" comes down to operational cost. I have no doubt the ride is (or at least once was) capable of launching all the way up the Tower however necessitating a considerably higher power output to each Launch. The Park Operator's could perhaps argue that the overall ride experience isn't that greatly affected whilst saving big $$$ on it's operation, tbh I would tend to agree with this way of thinking. That said, I wonder how much benefit covering the Launch tunnel in solar panels would make? If it was still possible to launch the ride almost to the top I would love to see it happen on busier days. Alas, I think this was done away with completely once ToT2 began operating.
  9. @Cactus_Matt you are correct about Dreamworld- there was in fact a Pirates themed high dive Stunt Show that was a Holiday Attraction and located roughly where Tiger Island sits today. It was a travelling show of sorts and I believe some of the Divers from the show at the time made their fame from the World Expo88 show. That said, it would have been in the 1990s. My guess it would be somewhere around 1992/93 summer. Not sure if there was any affiliation with this show and the one at Wonderland.
  10. I think a Lights out maze is an awesome idea! Turning the lighting on and off as you go through could allow Actors to position themselves right in peoples faces and actually make those who don't normally scare easily practically crap their dacks!
  11. A really impressive and we'll thought read. I am sure it will get a lot of shares! Shame such an articulate article has to come from a fan site supporting the Parks, rather than the Parks themselves.. then again this way it comes across as an independent and unbiased view. Seriously though hats Off Team Parkz and to all you involved with this ?
  12. 4. Surfrider 3. Doomsday 2. Wipeout 1. Claw Surfrider is at least 2 peaks too short - shame because it finishes right when it gets thrilling? Non existant themeing and noticeable wear and tear also lose marks for me. It is however a comfortable and unpredictable experience that could be better with minor improvements. I would rate DD last if it wasn't for the excellant themeing. I am not a fan of it's restraints and find them too bulky for the type of ride it is. A lap style restraint like GL would have given more thrills when hanging upside down imo. It's also MW'S least accommodating restraint for the larger rider. DD could take out top billing in the category if it offered a faster cycle option and better restraints. Wipeout has excellant themeing for a flat with comfortable restraints. It is a better ride experienced loaded with riders and spouts operating on a hot day. I would easily give Wipeout top marks for the category if it didn't suffer so much with the pregnant pauses in transitions. Despite having such a massive overhaul the old gal is showing her age with about half the ride spent practically stationary. The Claw is smooth, fast, thrilling and fun. It's almost as exciting to watch as it is to ride and despite having an odd theme for the area, somehow it seems to fit where it is. For many Park goers it's both the first and last ride of the day at DW and probably a good reason why so many visitors rate DW among their faves. It's a shame that the Claw has the most restrictive seat/restraint system of all our major parks, however top marks for being at the only Park offering a 'test seat' to save some time and unnecessary embarrassment.
  13. The store looks like a lot of fun - thanks for sharing your sneak peak @Slick
  14. So SW is basically only going to have 1 ride operating.. err pass!
  15. I could be wrong but I think @Slick may have forgotten to include it.. Myself, I haven't bothered to play this game. Personal opinions aside, how can one impartially rate our Coasters in a 'top10'? If you are into immersive experiences and value for time spent waiting then SDSC will likely be your #1. If speed and adrenaline is your thing then TOT or SE are your pick and you would also rate JR highly. If you like chaotic thrills by being flung around every which way AA is your winner with GL and HWSW up there and if enjoying the ride with your family and children it could be SDSC and Storm with JR and HWSW also topping your list. Then of course we have the junior coaster options for the very young to enjoy. End of the day, we all have our own opinions and the best thing is we have such a great collection of coaster experiences to enjoy and help round out a full day of small to big thrills that keep every age group and demographic happy.
  16. RR is more thrilling with a much faster initial dissent that keeps the ride going at a good pace till the brake stop. EFM has the allure of being suspended and probably a more comfortable seat with no issue re leg room etc. However I believe the restraints are more comfortable on RR being a simple lap bar, EFM are too tight and over the top for this kind of ride. RR is obviously better themed with all the surrounding Rockwork, Station and Trains. For the type of rides they are I'll give EFM a 6/10 and a 7.5/10 for RR. As an area and in their current states, I would rate MW Kid's Zone 5.5/10 and 7.5/10 for DW's DreamWorks. The addition of a decent family dark ride to both properties in these areas is clearly what both are missing.
  17. Hey @jake_hunt you should copy and paste that straight onto DW Facebook, they are loving this kind of feedback and are passing it onto the Staff to help keep the great momentum going! Such a great report mate I am thrilled to hear they are doing everything to put their best foot forward and winning with smiles?
  18. News flash!! Channel7 tonight reported on GL breaking down for 15 minutes before cycling empty cars and then reopening.. Seriously wtf Channel7.. What next? "Bugs Bunny caught allegedly farting in the face of a small child after refusing a carrot?"
  19. Every good Theme Park needs a good Haunted House / Ghost Train?
  20. Hahaha you're showing your age there? God no please no more DC stuff!!! We need balance at MW and Scooby-Doo is still a very much alive and well franchise. Still I have this unneasy feeling that is hovering in the back of my mind that this may indeed be on the cards. For now at least I am trying to block that thought out and hoping it doesn't happen. Mostly because it really doesn't need to
  21. ^ there you go!! So the scenes would obviously have to be reconfigured to view in reverse and then the 1st big drop is done forwards yeah? A whole new experience with little effort. Nice one @AlexB
