Glad to hear these are taking place despite not being listed on the app/website. I visited yesterday and agree with most of the thoughts mentioned here. Witnessed the response to the medical incident in the FOTWW que, another guest also had vomited in the que. By the time I returned to the land near park close they were holding guests inside the aircon/forest before letting them proceed to the castle. I think the $100m figure is absolute puffery, and there are obvious issues that are quite clear, no seating in the land or bins. I think the coasters are great and fill a whole in MW's lineup well, but yes the land as a whole has many misses. On a positive note for a family land there is a new toilet block through the ride photo area, as part of the same building that houses the staff green room.

I thought the Schnitzels might be on the menu there as they are no longer available at Kenny's Fried Chicken. They have had a slight price increase but yeah neither the burgers nor schnitzel are "theme park priced", keen to check it out, anyone got the drinks list?

Exactly this, it feels very petty “we want to open before DW”. I’m really curious as to if there will be any real fanfare/proper opening festivities. I’m confident the original plan was to soft open today. According to the app no Oz shows are even happening today. I don’t think they are stupid enough to open the land without the characters appearing however. The standard Dorothy “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” performance that has been on Main St for years has been moved to the new land according to the app, but is only listed as from the 27th along with the other 2 new shows as part of H4H. The H4H show schedule on the website states this show is still taking place on Main St. They have also put this on the website presumably for Guest Services to point at when people inevitably complain about the ride not operating. “Flight of the Wicked Witch is opening under technical rehearsals and operational times may vary while our teams fine-tune their operations of the attraction.”

Well I was wrong about it being a soft opening tomorrow 😆. Can’t wait to check it and Rivertown out on the weekend.

Coasters are all ready to go from what I hear, finishing touches being put on the land. Expecting soft opening in the second half of this week.

I’m a Wizard of Oz fan, and have seen Wicked on stage countless times. I have been far more excited for Rivertown from the start though, a custom layout family coaster with high theming on/off ride wins not to mention a highly themed restaurant, Dreamworld already was miles ahead of VRTP in terms of F/B and Guest Experience regardless. Will of course reserve full judgment until I have experienced both but Rivertown for me from everything released so far looks like the clear winner. Im sure Oz will look fantastic upon opening too, but I have no confidence in VRTP being willing to maintain this standard years down the track.

Fencing aside… Staff are getting the chance to ride Jungle Rush today.

Yeah in my opinion it’s not scummy, i personally would prefer if the full price was large and afterpay in the small print but I understand why they chose to do it this way.

Dreamworld have increased Annual Passes by $10 with the full pass price now $159 (currently includes $50 F/B voucher however). Renewals are currently $99.

I have no knowledge other than ops being trained on the coasters, if they are giving staff a sneak peak they are indeed closer than I assumed.

They did plan to have it open by now, I’m not taking the fence being down as sign of an imminent soft opening however.

Generally speaking shows are the same, except for special holiday events. So for Movie World for example there are additional shows/changes for the Hooray for Hollywood Dec 27 - Jan 19. As others have mentioned though outside of holiday periods is when work is undertaken on rides (however even during holiday periods you can have unscheduled closures)

Don't even need to get to the phases, they didn't meet various aspects of their marketing. You said so yourself . As for taking it further, stupid assumption especially when I got my value and it was only $25.

It’s simple, they didn’t offer everything that was advertised and whilst I personally got value I’m sure I’m in the minority. A token freebie/gesture that costs the park next to nothing would be a smart business move in my opinion vs just another reason to be dissatisfied with the park. As for comparing it to the membership it’s a completely different circumstance/product but they did offer something for members (One Pass at the Renewal price). Yes, and my opinion on its closure and this new post doesn’t contradict that.

Love the “no refunds” in the bottom of the FAQ. Considering they never did half the “phases” they advertised if people could be bothered chasing it up they would be entitled to one under consumer law. Knew the program would be shut soon but not even throwing something small at those that purchased and literally ending the email with “no refunds” really shows the general lack of care VRTP Management have these days.

I did multiple rides on Superman Escape yesterday, could do up my own seatbelt. Staff were directing guests to do so upon entering the gates.

Not a chance, they have never done a significant discount on the One Pass. I think their Black Friday special if there is one on the One Pass will be to the bonus vouchers currently included with renewals or similar.

It also confirms that we have new characters joining the parks roster as part of WOOP. They haven’t previously confirmed that.

$99 is the renewal offer DW have been doing for awhile. $89 is a “welcome back” offer for those with a lapsed pass. I didnt get either but my pass isn’t quite due for renewal. Did get the Village beat the price rise email although my one pass is valid til April however.

This was greatly appreciated, and makes a huge difference. In addition to the smaller groups I even witnessed a maze leader telling a grouper not to push people through too fast to avoid groups merging. This was very noticeable, and honestly I would rather some of the couple of extras in mazes in spaces where they are not concealed be moved to the zones. Worth noting to is the additional theming/photo ops placed around the park. I was skeptical when I heard they were stepping up entertainment based on the shows listed. But they absolutely have, the opening and closing have been fully redone and “Hellfire” isn’t just pyro for a few mins and features the dancers too. Opening and closing features pyro, dancers and the band all shows run approximately 10mins. Apart from new mazes the only thing really missing this year in my opinion was a large arena show. I hope next year features predominantly new mazes and a big arena show.
