Too late now to edit the old post. New supports and a have been added to this project. I would appreciate any thoughts or feedback you might have on this design so I can do better in the future.

I know that previously, on the western(?) side of the tower, a set of brake fins were located not far from the highest point, so you would fall into these brakes and feel as though you've stopped, before gravity won out and you started to fall again. Also, are you sure that which you're referring to as a speaker isn't a floodlight??

Can anyone reveal the actual nature of the problem with SE??

Within the Simulator, you press F11 to change to manual dispatch mode. F9 toggles the restraints, F10 toggles the loading gates. Use Enter to launch the train. Pressing E you can toggle between Fly Mode, Target Mode (camera follows train from a fixed point), or Tracking Mode (camera moves around with the train). Q will toggle you in the many train views. Press C to change which car of the train you wish to follow and get the stats on, and pressing V will change seats within that car. If you are on a laptop, you need to find the NumLk key, usually written in the same colour as the Fn key. Hold the Fn key and tap the NumLk key (on my laptop it is F11). Then find the 0 button written in said colour (mine has it on M). I found that with recording from NoLimits that the video never kept up with the audio, although I'm going to try again on the lowest resolution as Gazza suggested. You should have no problem uploading the ZIP file. The BMP files that you uploaded in your previous post were larger than the ZIP file should be. Also, if you are going to post screenshots on here, open them up in Paint, choose File->Save As, then change the File Type (the lower box of the two long ones) to "JPEG" or "JPG", then save the file. Post up the JPG files, because they are much smaller and you can actually use them within your posts.

Also worth noting, is the keyboard shortcut for Track Settings is "G". If you hold Control+G, it will "Smooth" the track. Pressing "I" will straighten the track, and "Y" will split the segment. If you want to cut a straight panel in half, press I then Y, and you will get a roughly equal split.

If you need any more help, or have a specific problem, don't be shy, there's a few of us who use NoLimits on here who I'm sure would be more than helpful for you

I think you'd call it something like you would name an entertainment venue. Think Madison Square Garden, Myer Music Bowl, that sort of thing, because that way it doesn't specify which music will be played, but people will know it as a music venue. Brisbane has such a place called "The Arena", which I don't think would work, but something along those lines.

If you're wanting to keep the "green room" feel to the area underneath the stage, you simply don't paint any walls. The large concrete bricks with no paint, exposed pipes and just the simplest of fluoro lights should do the trick. As for the dividers for the queue in the main room in front of the stage, I would suggest the big black heavy duty looking stage barriers that you see at concerts, or something made to look similar. Pretty much just a thick square metal beam on the same metal poles, with metal mesh installed between. Not only would this serve to fit the theme, it would also stop queue jumpers from ducking under the bar while others walk the 'long' way around. I'd have the music playing in the queue room also playing back stage, except I'd cut the music and put the safety video on, and at the end of the video, the doors open to let riders on. Staff will need to dress completely in black, except for maybe a lanyard so that guests know these people are staff, also what happens at concerts. As far as the mix of music to be played, I'd suggest a rather large playlist (upward of 4hrs worth of music) so that at worst, a worker will only hear the one song twice in a day. Having the license for Warner Bros Movies, wouldn't that also give a level of access to the Warner Music catalog? If not, simply get hold of an APRA license and then you can use commercially available music for entertainment purposes such as this. I'd also consider a store nearby called The After Party, where food and drink is available for purchase. Side note here: If space couldn't be found within the park with its existing layout, I would suggest turning the parking lot into a multi-level car park, and charging for the use of said car park, and then extending the park out into the reclaimed area. If this were the case, I'd also have a system whereby customers who purchased their tickets prior to arrival get either free or massively discounted rates

Well, water management is a pretty important part of a ride. I think they would have this sorted when they installed it. To my thinking, they would have the water at the same temperature all year round. In summer, if the sun heats it more once its outside, the thermostat in the heating part wouldn't bother starting the heating process, but in the winter it would automatically kick in. Think of your kettle - it doesn't take as long to boil if you put hot water in compared to putting cold water in. It's also very likely that the jets did become out of sync. If the system relies purely on timings, then an out of sync event is very easy to understand - with each boat being a different weight, the time it takes for the conveyor to move it up is different, and the time of the drop would be different too. If it is based on sensors (which I believe it is - an IR sensor like the conveyor belt things at supermarkets), perhaps something fell into the beam which caused it to believe the boat had passed the sensor and triggered the jets. A splash of water would be enough to interrupt an IR beam.

They could potentially have a system where you would pay to purchase a wrist band. This wrist band would feature an RFID chip, which you simply need to wave near a reader and the locker would be opened. Generally, you would only need one wrist band per "group" of people, and if you charge the all-day locker hire fee ($8 at Movieworld last time I was there), then you could make it unlimited use of lockers throughout the park for the whole day. You could carry your things around with you, and use the lockers closest to your particular ride. I hope that makes sense...

Howdy all I've been mucking around with the Flying Coaster design in No Limits. And this is what I've come up with. I call it Phoenix. I based it on the motions I imagine I would follow if I were able to fly. The support structure is a bit of a shemozzle, but for something I haven't sat down and purely worked on, I think it serves its purpose. Here's a couple of screenshots for you: Download: Phoenix.zip

I think this concept really could work. If like Spotty has hinted it is to make the space more available for events, artificial lighting could be added to ensure that Main Street ALWAYS looked at it's absolute best. I'd like to see it done in such a way that you don't notice there is a roof there (except when it's raining). Perhaps they could create a facade on the underside painted in such a way that it looks like clear skies with the sun shining brightly. Having the roof there also opens up another possibility, and that is filming. It would allow for a much greater experience of the All Star Parade, instead of relying purely on the steady-cam and the fixed camera, they could have multiple fixed cameras located down the street attached to the roof. And then, when we have themed events such as the Halloween event which I went to this year, they could produce far more immersive effects by having a roof there.

If you take a look on the Mack website, you'll see that our Scooby Doo track design is shown on there. I suspect Scooby now may have been copied somewhere else in the world.

The standard Vekoma SLC does not contain the horizontal loop prior to the brake run, they simply do a 180 degree turn from the double-roll, dip then rise to the brakes.

It's well worth the effort to learn how to use. You get a whole lot more freedom in what you can build, and it becomes far more realistic - you aren't restricted to boxes. There are plenty of tools around to help you turn your good coaster into a great coaster, and numerous online tutorials.

I've been working on a new coaster in NoLimits - thought I'd try my hand at a B&M style sit-down. I've called it Chill: It starts like you would expect, with the lift hill, followed by a predrop: Quickly followed by a real drop, then a hand-crafted vertical loop: A quick 90 degree left turn brings you to the Cobra Roll: Then another quick 90 degree turn puts you into the hand-crafted Immelman: Quick duck under the brake run and a sweeping pull to the right, we get to the Mid-Course Brake Run: The first element after we drop from the brake run is this Corkscrew-style Twisting Turn: Big sweeping turns follow, ducking under the track we just travelled on, and we find ourselves at an "Airtime Bump": Which is followed quickly by a 360 Flip to the Right: Up the hill and around a 180 degree turn, into the brake course back to the station. Thought I'd post it here rather than adding a new thread. If there's something you think you can do better for this track, please do so and post it up. Or even just your comments on this one, and ways it could be improved. Just a note: All the supports were hand-made, which is pretty full-on to build Chill.zip

The way I understood the Intamin site was that the track can be submerged, and the water used as the resisting force to slow the cars down. It is said that they can add magnetic braking for the winter seasons where the water level can be lowered. -
I think the idea behind it is good. The roof could be made from glass to allow the light to flow in, but you could also make it retractable, so that it would only be closed during inclement weather

I'm guessing it's an AquaTrax -
To my knowledge, with Superman, the two stations are considered blocks, with the rest of the track being the other. Once one train leaves the despatch station, and clears the launch, the train from the unload station will progress through to the despatch station, leaving the unload station free to receive the train that has just been launched, and the empty train to be filled, ready to be launched.

Just been watching some YouTube vids of roller coasters getting stuck and the riders having to be let out manually. It got me thinking - I've seen riders of Superman Escape be walked off the ride in the case it fails to launch or it rolls back. What I did want to know is, how do the ride operators unlock the harnesses? I know on Scooby Doo there are levers at the back of each cart, Wild West Falls has the foot pedal. What about any other rides?

That tophat isn't the best tophat I've built. Was planning to go back later and tweak it a little. The corkscrew is a little weird, I was watching a video of Maverick, and it didn't seem to follow the 'traditional' twisting style of say the corkscrew at Seaworld. That's where I was trying to take it, but clearly I'm not all that great at it. Feel free to make some changes and post it back up. I'm trying to make this a collaborative effort to produce a fantastic track for us all to enjoy. Jake-Train: The game is called NoLimits. The track is designed in a wireframe modelling program, then rendered in a 3D simulator. Try www.nolimitscoaster.com - I think they still have a free trial available

So, part way into building a track, I have "designers' block" I guess you would term it. So, I'm throwing the partially built track that I have out to you guys to see what you can make of it. 120kmh Launch leads to: 60m Tall Top Hat 80 degree banked Right Turn Sidewinder/Reverse Sidewinder Combo (probably a better name but I don't know it) Corkscrew And that's where I've gotten stuck. You've still got more than 100kmh speed at the end of that corkscrew, so there's plenty of leeway with where you can take this. Would love to see what you guys can come up with!!! Thanks all! What would you do if 'you' owned or managed DW?

Something I thought of, which I forgot to mention in my original post, is to replace the Wipeout with a new version of itself. It's great to rebuild the motors and gearboxes constantly, but sometimes a brand new one is the way to go. -

I would firstly reduce the number of themed "lands". I would keep Nick Central, Ocean Parade and Gold Rush. I'd move the animal enclosure from the left side of the park to the back side of Tiger Island. The Log Ride would be assimilated into Gold Rush, perhaps themed towards taking a trip down the river in search of Gold. The Mine Ride would need to be reopened as a matter of urgency. I'd stop increasing ticket prices until such time as new attractions are added. Like djrappa I would rework the operations of the park to focus on the highest throughput without compromising safety. Following comments made by the current CEO in the Courier Mail about leading edge technology becoming "bleeding-edge", I'd look into improvements for these rides. I assumed he was talking about the Tower of Terror. Considering Dreamworld just spent $10million with them, I'd be hitting them up for any improvements they've had in the technology used for this ride. Giant Drop and Tower of Terror need to be integrated better. I would move the entrances for each a little closer to each other. I would stick with the current oil rig theming of the Giant Drop, but I would have the queue line walk towards an elevator. It would look like an elevator, and an attendant would be waiting for them when it arrives. They would be wearing overalls and a shirt, and have grease smeared on their face. They would step inside, and the doors would close. Some form of effect would take place to make them feel like they were falling down 30 floors, into the deep underground. They would step out the other side, and into the actual ride enclosure. All the staff would have the same uniform with grease smeared on for effect. With Tower of Terror, I would get rid of the skull. The whole ride would be themed to be a nuclear testing lab. The premise of the story would be that one of the nuclear substances has become unstable, and could explode at any second. However, as you would be queuing, it would just seem like any other science lab building. Maybe put a looping projection onto a wall to make it appear that there are people coming out of one room, walking down the hallway and into another room. Once you get far enough through the queue, someone in a lab coat comes out and says welcome, that they're expecting you, and that they're sure you're eager to see some of the experiments being carried out. Another projection screen and you'd see people in HazMat gear, carrying a small jar of something through a large glass window looking in on a lab. Your guide will check that you've signed in at security, and then take you through the evacuation procedures (which would get you into your lines) and then an alarm suddenly goes off, meaning you all have to evacuate, then they'd let you into the room where the station is. With the Cyclone, I'd take a leaf out of the Runaway Reptar book, and have it just as it is. No story, no premise, it's a rollercoaster, and that's it. That's all Thunderbolt ever used to be. I haven't been to Dreamworld in quite a while, but anything that requires a lot of attention (anything more than daily watering) should be ditched. Obviously, removing the chairlift would happen, unless there was a legitimate use for it, which I cannot see. Personally, I'd like to remove the railway. A train ride isn't exactly exciting for most people, and it doesn't seem to provide any proper transport from A to B, so I would like it removed. The Motocoaster. Well, it is what it is, and it is where it is, so I would probably just leave it until people get sick of it. In order for them to get sick of it, I would add something else new. Probably get in contact with Bolliger and Mallibard (Mabillard????) and get a designer out here to see what they could do, especially with the space between the old water park and the Big Brother house. Turn it into a themed area that recognises the importance of the natural vegetation and makes significant efforts to educate visitors about how important it is. Like was previously mentioned, I think a show would make for a good way to take some of the guests off the street for a little while. I think an acrobatics style show would do the trick. Something amazing that not many people can do. Or get gymnast/dancers and have a massive cheerleading show like the finals from Bring It On. On the business side, I would get rid of the directors who approved the reduction in quality standards to increase profit margins. Entertainment is a business that involves spending vast amounts of money, which you get back by delivering a quality product. Clearly, MLT doesn't understand this. I would vote to sell Dreamworld. The ACCC wouldn't allow WVTP to buy it, but I'm sure there are enough business minded people who would get together to purchase it.
