Been playing around with the new X-Car coaster in No Limits v1.7, and knocked up this small but (I think) exciting track. Stats: Ride Time: 1min 41sec (from leaving station to arriving at unloading station) Length: 462.95m Height: 17.10m at Highest Point Top Speed: 65kmh Throughput: 540pph (4 car system, 3 on track at any given time, approx 2min ride, 6 people per car) Love to hear your thoughts X_Car.zip

NoLimits v2 is in the pipeline. Perhaps if you write to the creator you may get lucky and have it included in the new version. As for reversing wheels, I imagine they'd simply be a Track Setting within the Transport Segment. A turntable would be a new type of segment. Switch tracks would be difficult to implement, unless they were done using the block braking system, in that if the block currently switched to is now occupied, then the track would switch to the other. A vertical lift would involve a new segment type being added. I imagine you would simply create a VerticalLift segment from the vertex you wish to depart from to the vertex you wish to arrive at, and they'd have to be on top of each other. If you then wanted to replicate Scooby Doo, i think you'd need a new option added to the Track Segment Settings box, called Direction of Travel, in a similar fashion as to selecting if you want 2, 3 or 4 tube track with the HyperCoaster.

Disability policies at Australian Parks
ads086 replied to drummerstix_au's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Bumping an old thread I know, but thought I'd throw some input in here. If you check the signs at the entrance to most rides, it will show whether the ride is suitable to persons with disabilities. To my knowledge, at Movieworld at least, Lethal Weapon, Scooby Doo and Superman at least, all have Wheelchair Transfer at Platform listed on their entry signs. Lethal Weapon you enter via the shop, I imagine Superman would also be via the shop and Scooby Doo via the shop aswell. In many coaster stations, there appears to be a block-and-tackle attached to some sort of beam running across the top of the train, I can only imagine that this is used to left a person into the train when they're not capable of lifting themselves into it. Although, I may be completely wrong. If I am, can someone explain what they're used for. For reference, they are the usually round shaped object with a hook at the top, and chains coming out of the bottom. -
It's Liza Minelli - Life Is A Cabaret. Not all about promiscuous girls, but that's the only part of the song I remember
-
I've also heard the opening theme from Stargate The Movie played on Main Street. There's another song about some of the girl's being promiscuous basically, but I can't think of what it's called

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right thread to post in, but the title fits it really. Last time I was at the park, I rode Wild West Falls a couple of times, just after the October/November Annual Maintenance, and noticed some new "brushes" I suppose they'd be installed on some of the turns around the 'back' part of the ride. Can any one explain what they're for?

Mick Doohan-Dreamworlds biggest blunder?
ads086 replied to sonic123488's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If Dreamworld is being operated by Macquarie Leisure Operations Ltd, that would mean they are listed on the Australian Stock Exchange yes?? If so, could ordinary investors purchase enough shares to sit in on board meetings, or, with enough shares, purchase a controlling interest in the company?? -
I know its a bit old, I haven't been on here much, but I really did love what they did with the smoke machines. Every time my friends and I tried to get a photo of each other, we'd end up with a photo full of fog.

More competition = Better quality additions, or those not interested in stepping up simply bow out

It was only an example. I know Superman is themed to Superman, but since there currently isn't a Superman character at the park, you can't really have one operating the ride. The driving scenes reference is that Austin Powers was driving without a seatbelt and climbing between the back seat and the front seat while driving. It would be somewhat ironic for him to be checking seatbelts... I wasn't talk about all the time, or to dress all the operators up. Just get the actors who play them on the street to lend a hand for a little while. Everybody will already have photos from the street, and if we're talking about Superman, they won't have their cameras with them. And I wasn't talking about characters wearing suits either. It's just a little something to tie the theme in a little better, and a somewhat welcome distraction to the ride operators who are too busy talking between themselves.

I've seen Batwing regularly operate with only one person in the booth and one person checking harnesses. Since the person in the booth isn't seen all too often, you wouldn't need them to be themed. It wouldn't be all the time, it would just be those times when you don't see them on the street. And the Austin Powers thing was because I think it would be hilarious to have your harness checked by him, especially considering the driving scenes in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
-
I'm not sure if this is at all possible, but I think it would be fun to see some of the characters that appear at Movieworld actually operating the rides in character. How fun would it be to have the gang from Police Academy Stunt Show strapping you aboard Lethal Weapon? Some of the Mystery Inc gang running the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster? Batman operating Batwing? Or Austin Powers checking harnesses on Superman Escape. Just something I think would add to the park a little more. What's your thoughts guys??

I seriously do not think there is an anti-Dreamworld attitude here on Roller-Coaster.com.au. I remember when I first started browsing through these forums, I found the most exciting and interesting discussions were within the Dreamworld pages, because Dreamworld was the largest with the most rides. Now, I'm finding that I frequent the Movieworld pages far more often, because I actually enjoy a day at Movieworld far more. As far as food options go, when I eat at Movieworld I go to the Gotham City Cafe. At Dreamworld, it was some small place in Nick Central, themed to CatDog I think. I thought it was excessively expensive for the small meal I got. And I haven't been back to Dreamworld since the year they installed the Claw...
-
If I were to buy take away food in Brisbane city for lunch, and I didn't shop at a McDonalds or Subway etc, I would easily spend up to $10 or so. The most I've paid for a meal at Movieworld was about $13, and that was with the large upgrade and tomato sauce. And if you really are so disturbed my theme park food, I suggest you get a pass-out stamp and walk across the highway to the McDonalds or service station restaurant (both Movieworld and Dreamworld have these opposite)

Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion
ads086 replied to AugustVonPolen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Is it just me or does 1hr wait times seem incredibly ridiculous?? The park is only open to guests for 7 hours, and if it were an hour for every queue, you'd get 6 rides in for the day. That's the Big 6 thrill rides and then you're going home. Good way to sell extra-day passes I suppose, but I'm of the thinking that you're selling people an experience. If that experience cannot be had in just one day, then single day tickets should not be sold... Just my thoughts anyway -
I'm not so sure if it would work out cheaper. I remember that Superman: The Escape at Six Flags Magic Mountain was on sale for $1, but then you also had to pay to de-construct it, move it, and then re-construct it at the other end. The alternative is to buy a new one, where you get newly fabricated track, freshly painted in the colours of your choice, (potentially) newer technology, and you can customise anything you like. Take a look at the last second-hand ride installed on the Gold Coast (aka Cyclone). The ride was originally built on the edge of a rockface to my knowledge, and then to just stick it on a flat piece of land, having to build a spiralling queue line just to reach it...
-
Totally agree. If they're planning maintenance in advance, surely they can organise this maintenance to start later, especially since the "most popular ride in the park" will be out of commission on a special event, where the park is being showcased. Also, just wondering what we'll be in for as far as the Halloween theme goes? (First time this year)

You'd need to find a suitable definition for "thrill". You may not be able to get them for false advertising, but misleading advertising is much easier to prove.

I'd say Gold Coast Airport is at least 30mins from any of the Gold Coast theme parks. Do a WhereIs directions search for "Pacific Highway, Coolangatta" to any park. I know that there is a regular shuttle service that runs around the Gold Coast, run by Surfside Buslines. To my knowledge, it collects passengers from several key locations around the region and drops them at any of the 4 parks. Smaller operators run similar services. Check the myfun website for details on some of those operators. For those travelling into Brisbane, checkout www.airtrain.com.au. They operate the AirTrain service from Brisbane's domestic and international terminal, then stops at Eagle Junction, Bowen Hills, Brunswick Street, Brisbane Central and Roma Street stations, then becomes the Gold Coast service, running express from Southbank to Beenleigh stopping only at Yeerongpilly and Loganlea, then all stations to Robina. For all other Public Transport enquiries in South East Queensland, head over to www.translink.com.au. AirTrain offer limousine transfers from Gold Coast stations (Ormeau, Coomera, Helensvale, Nerang and Robina). From memory, they are only around $80, and can take up to 4 passengers. Personally, I'd love for this to be held at Warner Brothers Movie World. Of the parks on the Gold Coast, I would like to know more behind-the-scenes information from Movie World. Exclusive Ride Time on Superman Escape would be fantastic, and well worth paying a little more for. A sit down meal, and maybe have the Question & Answer session following. A look inside Scooby Doo would be great. Just seeing the track in full light would be fantastic. An alternative to this would be to force an E-Stop and walk everybody off the ride. It would give most people a chance to see some parts you wouldn't normally get to see. And perhaps we could find out, if it's at all possible, the impact our discussions here on Roller-Coaster.com.au have had on developments at WBMW.

"Butterfly Feeling" A.k.a Weightlessness
ads086 replied to Rollercoaster13's topic in Theme Park Discussion
No matter what anyone tells you, you just have to ride it to find out for yourself. Isn't that half the point? -
Didn't Disney's California Adventure install a steel coaster designed to look like a wooden coaster? Personally, the only place a wooden coaster could thematically exist would be with Wild West. I personally wouldn't want something overly tall. I think Superman and Batwing should remain the dominant characters in the skyline. As far as ride technology goes, I would've thought wooden coasters are almost as capable as steel coasters. What's to stop an Intamin Hydraulic tyre launch (Motocoaster style) being implemented on a wooden coaster. One element I would like to see used in Australia soon is the launched lift hill (see Maverick at Cedar Point). When I'm on a ride, I want the fun part to start, and the lift hill seems to just be delaying the inevitable.

I really don't think we'll end up getting rid of Batman that easily. I suspect that if they were to eliminate Wing Manor and the motion simulators, they would still replace it with something Batman themed, since they still have Batwing, a boat, a plane, a car and a man-in-a-suit. Personally, I'd like to see a new land built in behind the show stage. Access would be provided via the smokers hill near Wild West Falls, behind Scooby Doo, and via China Town. If this were to become Springfield, you could put in a Qwik-E-Mart as a food store, maybe the School as a merchandise store. Build a forced perspective wall and put the nuclear power plant off in the distance. As far as rides go, I can't think of anything to put there (I'm not much of a Simpsons person), however, I would like to see a Bolliger & Mabillard coaster built here in Australia. Movieworld seems keen to look around at whats available (they were the first to bring S&S to Australia). Something that isn't high speed, but still with some thrills. As someone mentioned before, a Motocoaster style ride, but perhaps a little taller. Something that doesn't necessarily do loops, something smooth. Again, as has been said before, a ride to take the load off Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. Just a thought also, for the show stage. Village produced the movie Hairspray, which has been absolutely huge, and lends itself fantastically to a stage production, since it was on Broadway.
-
We don't want Movieworld to go Dreamworld style and just start replacing rides just yet do we?

I think it's important to remember that not everybody who visits a park comes from an area that has these gaming machines. The last games arcade in my home town closed down when I was around 8yrs old. If parents managed to take the family on holidays, these would be something new, interesting, and not readily available elsewhere for them.

Bart "caught" Blinky perhaps?
