Disney Expanding Footprint Name In Australia
jjuttp replied to Chalky's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It's not just the park thats price gouging either. I (tried) priced up a WDW trip the other day with hotels which is borderline impossible to do. I was looking into a 2 bedroom place onsite and found a site that has the rough yearly prices for each hotel. The 2 bedrooms start at 1500usd and go up to 2600usd. That's 2400-4000 aud which is insane when you learn it's per night. Hamilton Island like to have a bit of a circle jerk over qualia being "Australia's highest rated resort" and "Australia's only 6 star resort", while their prices start at 1600 and top out at 2600 a night for the low and mid quality rooms outside of peak. The big one goes for 6k. That includes breakfast, a buggy, gym, non-alcoholic drinks (unlimited), VIP chauffeurs from the airport and 24 hour taxi'ng. At Disney? Cable car, bus and boat. -
The New Atlantis - Construction Updates

At which point we can expect them to pull from other attractions for the inspections, then return it to a half assed state the moment they leave. -
Yeah but 3 queue lines means 3 sponges.

Learning moment. It's "out of sight, out of mind".

You mean Shanghai?

The downside? Other than the fact it would be severely watered down, it would also be in Adelaide.

I always see these things as America favouriting America. They have both the population and the ego to ensure that they have 38 out of the top 50 spots. I'll use an example of how the USA tends to favour themselves that a friend taught me. He's one of the top whip crackers in the country. The best in the world chamionships are held both here in Aus, and theres another in the USA. Ours is open to the entire world while the USA only opens theirs to US residents. Things like that are why i generally dont trust any worldwide poll that comes out of the States. Hell, Pantheon is on the list which should kill credibility aswell.

Disney Cruise lines set sail in Australia
jjuttp replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
What im finding the weirdest about this is that the prices are being advertised as USD. It's a cruise originating in these 2 countries and returning to these 2 countries. Why not use their currency? -
Isn't a wedgie more of a divorce of the cheeks than a wedding between them?

The fact that place doesn't have a Topple Tower is beyond me.

So today in my quest for junk food, i decided to pop my head into the Hawksbury Reigonal Museum and have a look at the Paradise Gardens exhibit they had on display. The room was smaller than the bathrooms near Sky Voyager, so not much to photograph, but there was a few cool tidbits. The park was out in Cattai between Wisemans Ferry and Windsor, and was started by Bullens. So once upon a time Bullens owned 2 animal parks and this fantasy/dinosaur park. The main attration here were the dinosaur displays dotted around the park akin to the Crystal Palace Gardens in the UK. Just as shoddy looking too. The exhibit has an old park map blown up on the wall and some people have donated pictures and slides that are shown. The park used to host a Flugtag like event that also allowed ornithopters and offered a 10k prize if you made it over 50m. You got $1000 if you flew the furthest under 50m, which 1 guy won twice. Nobody won the 10k. The venue also used to be under Baulkham Hills Council which is some 30-45 minute drive to the suburb alone. Other attractions included a boat ride like Jungle Cruise and a (real) tractor ride that lapped the park. A large biggature of the Old Woman Who Lived In a Shoe's shoe was also there and featured in an Arnotts commercial. One photo i did manage to get though featured the operating years of old parks around Sydney.

Only when they show up on my Youtube feed and arent shit looking.

To be fair, even if Cedar Point was built here, people would go bonkers if a new ride wasnt a thrill coaster despite being almost the entire line up. The coaster riding public only want their tastes catered to and nobody elses.

I remember when they were like "yeah, don't worry, it's coming back at some point". Next minute, they pull a Dreamworld and leave it there for a few years.
-
You can also see it on any Facebook post from them. At the same time though, ive seen people call for cheaper pricing when 1 ride is down and another thinking schedule maiteneance should only take an hour a day and be done on a rolling basis.

The New Atlantis - Construction Updates
jjuttp replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Does that mean Leviathan has a minimum crew requirement of 1? -
If that was the case Scooby would be down too.

The upside though is that you can make it not obscure if done right. The games are starting to get some traction again through the store releases, Kickstarters, the big push this year (20th anniversary and chinese year of the tiger), and the advertising for a Ty 5. If the park was to either build on the old BB theatre or retheme ABC and reopen Billabong, that would be a great start. Billabong could become Mauries Ginger Beer Factory (table service), Wiggles Ride could become a trackless screen based ride on a centre spindle with dome screens (think JL3D and Forbidden Journey merged) based on Julius's inventions with a Boss Cass/Fluffy attack at some point. Gift shop is Bri and Di's Rang Shop. The Wiggles House and that area next to it can be a meet and greet made to look like Bush Rescue HQ. Stick Dukes helicopter somewhere to break the area up a bit. Pirate ship is already in-universe with Redbeard the Pirate. Then just find a way to theme the Teacups, Ferris Wheel and Rock n Tug to Ranger Ken, Rex, Ellie and Dennis and you've ticked off all the characters really.

Ty the tasmanian tiger. It's a cheap IP, has a significant amount of theme potential, Australian, and can be used as an excuse to get people into Corroboree.
