  1. Seems unlikely when you consider the history of all the Von Roll monorails. It's so much easier to demolish the tracks altogether and replace them with trams like they did at Jurong Bird Park and Sentosa. At least Von Roll is still in business.
  2. All of this kind of reminds me of Old Sydney Town. I got a chance to visit it in 1975. Very Australian themed, although there weren't a lot of rides.
  3. I hope their gran is okay. http://ktla.com/2016/01/29/family-threatens-lawsuit-after-snake-bite-at-disney-world-leads-to-grandmothers-death/
  4. Hopefully, you'd have better theming a'la Big Thunder Mountain, but yeah, I'd prefer something that would fit in the park and that you'd be able to re-ride. So if we're getting some kind of mega/giga coaster we're looking at footings or foundation and it's going to go over the park, like Hollywood Dream, the ride?
  5. I enjoyed the human side more than the Cyclon one. Rode it again in January.
  6. A well themed Mack Powered Coaster could fit into the wild west themed area. I also think it would be family friendly, as there's not a lot in MW for that part of the market. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FmEchfn650
  7. There are a number of areas you could stay in Singapore. Some people prefer staying on Sentosa, which is great if you're after a really laid back holiday close to the beach or USS (it also means you're further away from everywhere else). You can stay in the Marina Bay area (not necessarily at the Sands), which is about a ten minute taxi ride to Sentosa (and walking distance to the Raffles). Then there's the Orchard Road area (about a half hour taxi ride or 45 minutes by MRT and Monorail). You're closer to the centre of town and other attractions. I usually stay in a boutique hotel called the Quincy in the Orchard Road area. Food is included in the price of a room as well as the mini bar, WiFi and two pieces of laundry a day. Their happy hour goes from 6-8pm when the drinks are free with dinner. They also make a good Singapore Sling. After you stay in a 100 room hotel and you see the crowds in the foyer of any big hotel like the Marina Bay Sands, you can't go back.
  8. Trying to put comments in Mark's mouth? Yeah, totally agree that that area is screaming out for an attraction. The only problem is that it would cost a lot more to build something incorporating the old castle site and lake area. My wish list so far is: Gerstlauer Family Coaster - something akin to DLP's Big Thunder Mountain but going over the water as opposed to under. (750 pph) Zamperla Hydrolift - Adventure World needs a river raft ride. These things are popular with people of all ages and the Hydrolift comes with a tower that I'm sure they could design into a new castle. (660 pph) Zamperla Flume Ride - It would be great if they could incorporate it into the lake area. They could even use the old paddle boats loading platform as its station. It would be cool if it went around the old Castle island. (1200 pph) Just a few of my thoughts. Of course, the ideal would be to have a combination of a couple of these over the next ten years.
  9. Nice interview on the topic.. Richard representing for Parkz: http://blogs.abc.net.au/queensland/2016/01/rollercoasters-.html?site=brisbane&program=612_afternoons
  10. That's a shame if they are getting rid of the show stage - they need more shows to soak up the crowds. It would be awesome if they were getting a Wild West themed coaster and it would make sense if it was a Mack one after building the Storm Coaster. How do we know they're not just repainting?
  11. This is a thing now?! http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-29/roller-coaster-academic-malcolm-burt-examines-the-need-for-speed/7124112
  12. Plus you're talking about a new park vs a new ride. It's definitely not news headlines. Only if they had the great service that we get from Mark and his team at AW.
  13. ^$50 for kids. Yep, headed to Adventure World today and discovered on entry that they had sold out of fast passes! Went on Kraken first and rode within twenty minutes. After lunch, it looked to have a 35-45 minute queue. We avoided the GP raceway and the rest of the rides we went on had a 5-10 minute wait. There were plenty of people in the park, with the pool and Kahuna Falls popular in the afternoon. The chairlift is only running between midday and 4pm and Freefall is still MIA. Obviously some of the theming has been suffering from Perth's bogan element. One of the pirates is missing an arm and some of Kraken's flotsam is looking a little worse for wear. There's now a themed water dispenser near the queue area and there are still lots of portable marquees in use by AW. They were hosing people's feet down when they were approaching the top of the hill, which is not the best when you're wearing shoes to go on the chairlift. The trellis shade further down the hill also has some greenery on it, which should look great in the future. The weeds appear to have returned around the base of Abyss, however. I also checked out the area under the chairlift - that's quite a tumble that lady must have taken. Overall, we had a great day. Kudos to Mark and his staff.
  14. Marina Bay Sands also does a great light show at night and is easier to get to. The Gardens by the Bay and Botanic Gardens are pleasant to visit (and accessible by MRT). I do like going to the Jurong Bird Park and River Safari, with its river raft and boat rides. The Zoological Gardens do a 4 in one pass, which is also cheaper to buy online. The ArtsScience Museum as well as the Science Museum in Jurong are good value. I hadn't been out to the one in Jurong for a long time and got a pleasant surprise there on a recent visit. Dejiki is a great source of information for what's happening in Singapore. http://dejiki.com/
  15. A little harsh on AW, I think. I didn't want to say anything in case the lines had blown out, but I went today and Kraken's queue was probably about 45 minutes in the early afternoon (a 20 minute wait at the start of the day). Abyss, was about 10 minutes in the morning and so were the majority of rides. I couldn't complain.
  16. Rides in the morning; shows in the afternoon. Don't miss Waterworld - always try and get the first show of the day, which is around 12-1.30pm as the later shows can be rain/storm affected. Make sure you catch the pre-show as well. Most people are still heading to Transformers first thing, then the rest of the coasters down that side of the park. They're experimenting with a late start time for the Jurassic Park part of the park, which can mean a rush to ride the river adventure at 11am. The Puss in Boots ride is also proving popular and can have a wait time as long as 40 minutes. You'd have to be unlucky to get a busy day. The Unlimited Fast Pass retails for about $70 - I definitely wouldn't buy it until I got to the park because it's usually not worth it. Don't miss the Dolphin Show at Ocean Park, which can get crowded out 40 minutes before show time. The coasters and rides at the top of the park (it's in two sections) have a great view overlooking the harbour. Disneyland HK is usually pretty snoozy and doesn't tend to get as busy as its Japanese counterparts. Do the coasters, Mystic Manor, the Jungle Cruise and Buzz Lightyear first before hitting the shows in the afternoon.
  17. Well, Mohan did die a year or so ago.
  18. I always thought Mohan was the first. Sita's still my favourite.
  19. TDL is massive - the equivalent of Magic Kingdom. It has the best and biggest Splash Mountain.
  20. Vegas zip line video. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156285173370112&id=305901075111 Sentosa in Singapore also has a massive zip line that flies over the jungle.
  21. Yeah, the mats on the mat slides are getting smaller and smaller. Glad you liked it. Mark and his team do such a good job.
  22. Yeah, they were just building the lift hill for the Jurassic Park coaster when I was there last. Wasn't a fan of the 3D goggles. It's a clever and amazing ride the Harry Potter one. Loved the Jaws ride there too. Disneysea will blow your mind.
  23. Yeah, the Harry Potter ride is similar to the Transformers attractions at other Universal parks. How did you find the 3D glasses? Disney's theming is better still, especially Disneysea.
  24. USS was celebrating Chinese MNew Year when I visited recently.
