  1. It looks like they want to open it early October- brrr. Let's hope for a warm spring.
  2. Yeah, one of the genius things about all of their attractions so far is that they don't rely on any fancy IPs. They could get POTC sounding music, like they have that Harry Potter sounding music at the entrance gates and at Halloween.
  3. ^ Ouch, I thought I was picky. Looks like the track to Orphan Rocker. Feels like the track to a Zamperla Gravity Coaster.
  4. No, I wasn't implying that you thought that. Just the psychology of how they price their tickets. It doesn't help that December is the last month of the year!
  5. Oh no, Tim.. you forgot the quote for the second photo:
  6. Do you think they're counting on people thinking there's only ten months in the year? I think as long as they give people the opportunity to pay once a year or every month, that's a fair deal. I would prefer the once a year deal, myself. Coming from interstate, you might visit twice that year, then leave it for a while (like the next time they spend some capex).
  7. ^ They wouldn't have to do much. I reckon they should shoot a pre-ride video for MI-2 on the Leeuwin 2, which is our local tall ship. One of the things I think they missed with Abyss was the themeing in the queue line before the ride. Sure, there's a short video that goes for about a minute and a half, but there's little in the way of storytelling. I think it'd be good to know where we are and what kind of beast would be attacking us. As cliched as the back story is in Typhoon Theatre in the Maritime Experiential Museum on Sentosa is, it sets the scene really well for what's about to happen in the theatre.
  8. Yay - thread title change! Anyone else thinking there's a tall ship in the render for MI 2?
  9. Just watching the original coverage of Disneyland's opening ceremony. The meet and greet characters look downright scary. I loved the fact that Tomorrowland was set in 1986, 'when a rocket trip to the moon is an everyday occurrence.' http://pictorial.jezebel.com/disneyland-opened-its-doors-to-hysterical-kids-sixty-ye-1718259002
  10. Good point about the damage - especially the back right hand side which was pretty much off limits. It's a kids' maze compared to Amaze'n in Margaret River, which is not really a bad thing since that's their current audience. Yeah, the park's not really worth visiting on a regular basis just yet. It was quite busy in the school holidays and they didn't seem to be doing a great job of handling the crowds at the gate. The quicker they build the new entrance way the better. I like the grounds and hope they manage to keep that atmosphere when the place is fully developed. The list of future attractions is unbelievable, but I think Adventure World is taking the high ground with regards to the quality of their current attractions. It's funny how they handle their 10 year plans. Adventure World surprises us with a new attraction on a regular basis, whilst Outback Splash says they're going to do something and instead does something else. This is what their next lot of slides should look like (they seem to have put the King Cobra on the back burner): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE2Vj20qvmY
  11. Found some more plans for Outback Splash's expansion. It looks like the King Cobra, which still appears on the current park map as coming soon, will not be in the next stage of development. I've also worked out that it's not a road that cuts through the park, but the Dampier to Bunbury gas pipeline. If you look at where they are developing, they're avoiding anywhere too far to the west of the current park's structures. This expansion includes: http://www.bullsbrook.org.au/uploads/1/1/3/3/11339633/da286-15_plans_(3).pdf It looks like they received permission to start building the new entrance way. The only differences at the park I noted during the week is that they have felled some trees in the emus' pen (which is close to where the new entrance way will be). Note: a new map of what the park is expected to look like has been posted to their website.
  12. Saranac PR sent me some stuff for my Facebook page (apparently Ausparks too, judging by what they've posted). According to AW's Facebook page, the Platinum Season Passes go on sale mid-August. There will be extra benefits, but they're not saying what at this stage. The Earlybird Sale ends Oct 1 - plenty of time in which to make a decision.
  13. AW's PR people have confirmed that the bumper boats will be refurbished and rethemed.
  14. And we don't.. I also hope AW carries on with and adds on to its kids' show. I thought it showed a bit of creativity and courage to try something like that.
  15. Our early bird season pass is already $148, so a regular one bought in season would be more than that. Depending on what it includes, a platinum pass could be $200 or more. It would be interesting to see how limited they would be, especially if they include fast pass privileges. We do realise that we spelt 'adventure' incorrectly in the title of this thread, right?
  16. I love how we're thinking ahead, already. It's great that there are so many of us from WA here. There's already been talk about a Kidz Tornado by ProSlide - they look really cool. Gazza also mentioned rethemeing of certain other areas near the new slide too. My question is: how much would we be willing to pay for a platinum pass?
  17. But I do like the fact that most of them are willing to learn. Which is what I've been doing.. I looked at the design and thought, maybe it does look more like a sea serpent. There are some great Australian myths about them. There are the Aboriginal ones like the Wagyl, the Wonambi and the Wirnpa. The Wagyl, a rainbow serpent, is the most well known and is usually associated with the Swan River and for some reason, Lake Monger. Bibra Lake, by the way, was originally called Walubup. Bibra's Lake was named after Benedict von Bibra. Whilst there are some really cool serpent stories from over east, here's my favourite from here in WA: From Weird Australia (http://weirdaustralia.com/2011/12/09/bunyips-serpents-other-creatures-lurking-beneath-our-waters/) And who said dead men tell no tales?
  18. I see ABC News filmed a story about Queensland's shark nets at Sea World, today.
  19. AW has posted the rendering on their Facebook page. They've got hundreds of likes in the past couple of days. I think Perth people are still getting to grips with what it is. One even mentioned that he'd been following this thread on Parkz. People are starting to ask questions about the platinum pass. Was in Freo this afternoon, so I popped down. Some of the stone has been moved from the bumper boats area. Presumably, they're building some super cool paths for the summer with it.
  20. Here's the original render that Mark posted this morning. I blacked out the scribbled out parts. Yeah, when you look at the POVs of other Tornado 60s they're usually a really short ride. The colour scheme seems to really match Perth colours. The tentacle at the bottom of the ride looks cool. I like the way they have managed to keep that iconic limestone outcrop too. It's good to see that Screamscape and Ausparks have picked this up. Needless to say there was nothing in the West this morning. http://www.screamscape.com/html/small_international_parks.htm#AdventureWorld http://www.ausparks.com.au/2015/07/proslide-tornado-headed-to-adventure-world-in-perth/
  21. Do you think it'll be 75% off the sleepover for members?
  22. Conditions and prices of early bird season passes are already up. http://adventureworld.net.au/#/tickets/early-bird-season-pass-membership-sale/ $148 for adults. The terms are a little different. The discount for up to 8 friends is 40%, but you don't have to use it on the one day. Discounts on in-park purchases have gone up to 25%! Where does it say you can't upgrade to platinum?(Just saw it) I hope that doesn't catch people in the lurch. 30 minutes early entry to the park or one hour after it closes on selected nights? That would be cool.
  23. Thanks Mark, looks great. Will we be able to upgrade to the platinum pass if we buy the ordinary ones?
  24. I would have settled for a news article from Richard. AW hasn't updated its Facebook page or official site either. I thought Ausparks did a nice little write up about it.
  25. Sorry about the glitchiness, but here's the story: VTS_07_1.VOB or
