Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition

And The Simpsons Downunder worked so well at Fox Studios. Isn't a Dr Who ride already in development in the UK? -

Some curious pictures from this afternoon. Was in a bit of a rush, as I just went to see the new Mad Max movie. The focus in the shot I took from across Bibra Lakes is very dodgy (my apologies), but you can just make out an orange building frame half way up the hill. You can kind of see the curving route of the ride, too. They also look to be driving pylons for the foundation at the top. -

Throwback Thursday is pure gold this week. It's the first part of a video on the introduction of Adventure World. It features the tram ride and the monorail. Thank you, Mark! https://www.facebook.com/AdventureWorldOfficialPage -
For a season that's not an unreasonable amount to ask. I have spent $400-$600 on passes and one day entry tickets to Adventure World for the last couple of years. Think about how much you would spend if you paid an individual entry price every time you went to a park. Those soccer moms on Facebook kill me every time they complain.

There was a great picture posted to Adventure World's Facebook Page today. It's circa the 1980s and you can make out the big pool and its pump-house. The footpath on the left of the shot is the one that is next to the speed slides in modern times. What I can't work out is, what's that big Dinosaur statue thing in the foreground? -
Universal Studios Singapore Trip report. 7/05/15
iwerks replied to Morphix's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Songs of the Sea has been replaced. JP River Rapids actually had the drop at the end changed so it wasn't quite as drenching. There's also the show at the Maritime Experiential Museum that's good. -

Thanks for the TR. Sounds like you had a good trip. It's a great little park, so close to Australia. It will be awesome to get BSG up and running again. A new show for the Pantages Hollywood Theatre wouldn't hurt, too. -
^ Like you didn't cringe during the original? Yeah, it would have been nice to see shots of the Walley World park.

The Perkins guys have moved their units onto site near the bottom of the Shotgun. They're certainly secured the place with fencing and tape and the like. -

From Adventure World's latest Throwback Thursday. Note: The change rooms below the chair lift were knocked down before they had to build Abyss. There's no Kahuna Falls or the Cabanas by the pool either. -
^ Yah, Coupon Day = Jurassic Park. Talking Moose, Wagon Queen Family Truckster = National Lampoon's Vacation Theme Park Terrorism, Roller Coaster Bunting = Rollercoaster the Movie Roller coaster falling apart = Final Destination 3 (or GL?) And back on topic.. VRTP are certainly getting a bit of flack on their Facebook advertising for their bungling of the renewal process.

Unlike Adventure World?

Sorry, Jurassic Park reference. But it would be interesting to have a really exclusive park, like a Sea World Discovery Cove type thing, or maybe like the one Eric Cartman had.
-
They should raise their ticket prices sky high and have a coupon day for everyone else. ?
-
Yeah, they must be able to justify the economics, but it just seems like VRTP is going for market share - get in early before Dreamworld. 2-3 times the price of a day ticket seems about right for a season pass.

I think Proslide because of Reckless Loony and Reckless Loony is never wrong. Before Abyss I would have said, yeah it'll be just a Tornado, but I really like the idea of a Hybrid of some sort. That Magnetic Mammoth Tornado looks great. http://www.proslide.com/rides/hydromagnetic-mammoth-tornado-60/ I'm also looking forward to the great job they're going to do on the themeing. -
Battlestar Galactica coaster closure/retheme
iwerks replied to iwerks's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Battlestar Galactica is getting closer to reopening - some signage has returned. The Puss N Boots coaster is proving very popular, with waits up to 135 minutes! http://dejiki.com/2015/05/uss-update-2015may/ -

That might be the easiest way to keep track of this project. We're not going to be able to see too much from the street level until it gets very big indeed. -
And they have such supportive neighbours...
-
Yeah, Funfields should get a Gerstlauer coaster and Adventure World should get a Proslide waterslide and they will be exactly the same once again.

Yeah, I have no idea of the numbers.. but you've got to wonder how they're doing their maths. Are they really making that much money from food and souvenir sales that they can charge that little. It would be interesting to see the correlation between when their pass prices started to dip and when they stopped spending big in the capex department.
