  1. Hey TD Paid King Carnival a quick visit, today, on my way back from Peel Zoo. The picture you posted looks to be an enclosed trampoline type thing. The place was pretty quiet. It's very old school carny-like. I had a quick snoop around and could not see the water coaster that used to live there. It seems to have been replaced with a large inflatable slide. Apparently, the park is celebrating its sixtieth birthday. Yay! Now only if they had a ride to match their Transformer.
  2. Went past AW this morning. The place was packed. The second car park was open before 11am. People were parking down by the lake and walking up.
  3. Or a Whitewater West Abyss (aka Wet Abyss)? That thing is huge!
  4. Yeah, I'm hoping for something better too. They're vague enough with their description, so it could be pretty much anything. There's quite a bit of land at that back corner of the park. Once they build on it, it's gone. Obviously, if the ride's a world beater then it's going to take up a bit of space. I just think the park really needs a flume ride: most other parks its size have one. Flume and raft rides are a great family attraction and are some of the most popular rides on the Gold Coast. I also think AW needs something for the seniors as they pretty much give that gate away. Get something that engages the whole family and you will be on a winner. In other news.. from their Facebook page. Um.. which year?
  5. Does that include the offerings from the RAC? http://rac.experienceoz.com.au/gold-coast/theme-parks/holiday-world-pass/holiday-world-pass http://rac.experienceoz.com.au/gold-coast/theme-parks/super-pass-unlimited-entry-for-28-days/super-pass Most of my friends get these as they're usually only going to be at the GC parks once during the year.
  6. The Copycat? ^That's the slide that Outback Splash is getting this year! Whilst it'll probably be a long Proslide or something, I'm still holding out for a Zamperla Hydrolift or even a flume ride, because that would be so cool.
  7. Will be popping into the park on the weekend and will grab a picture of the sign. Thanks for the heads up - grrofunger.
  8. It looks like a Lego 4D movie will be coming to all Lego parks in the near future. Fingers crossed MW will get it too. I'm not such a big fan of the Rio 4D conversion that is currently playing there. The musical numbers are pretty good, but the story has been cut to pieces and some of the plot is pretty dark for little kids. However, I do think MW has put some effort into the preshow room as well as the introductory spiel.
  9. There's no real direct route there from the west too. In other news: Mark and park feature in another local travel story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9pcxTB1z2I
  10. ^ With planes they measure seats on pitch and seat width. Emirates somehow thinks that people won't notice that they have 10 abreast seating in the economy class of a 777 whilst other airlines, like Singapore Airlines, have nine abreast (which is fairly standard). Noxegon's point is people are getting bigger, not smaller, and over such a long distance it's pretty uncomfortable to fly in a narrower seat. Emirates always gets good press in Australia, but the travel reporters never really mention that fact. And Noxegon - good job on the Uluru report. That's some car hire bill.
  11. Love the level of detail, Noxegon. Good point about the 10 abreast seating on the plane - like no one would notice. You must have had the expensive menu at AW. Their standard burger isn't too costly, plus as a season member I get 20% off, which helps. I'm looking forward to your next reports.
  12. Great job, Noxegon. I'm glad someone's living the dream. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us and posting here. Just out of interest, do you normally tap into the local scene via theme park forums when you visit a country?
  13. There was a vote involving a bunch of different coasters from around the world. It's a nice shot.
  14. Congratulations to AW for the Abyss making it to the cover of the French Facebook page 'Coaster Fans'. https://www.facebook.com/CoastersFans
  15. It's not very big. Where on their Facebook page was this picture? Do they have more than one Facebook page? I like the look of their Tilt a Whirl - I gotta check this place out one day.
  16. What did you make of their filming in the rest of the park, Luke? Do you think they were shooting for the redesigned show?
  17. A lot of rides, like a Powersurge, have pretty low height and weight limits.
  18. Thanks for the update, Jobe! The ghost train exterior is looking great.
  19. In other unrelated news, it seems like some people think that Disney is about ready to start planning its second park in HK. They certainly will need something besides Iron Man when the park on the main land opens up. http://www.screamscape.com/html/hong_kong_disneyland.htm#2ndPark
  20. Wow - simply wow. I love your shots of the woodie construction. What time of day was that? There's not a finer sight.
  21. Really enjoyed the mine train ride at Ocean Park - what a view. Always thought a Zamperla Sombrero could fit into the Wild West area.
  22. Congrats on the credit. Hope you manage to keep yourself cool.
  23. Don't set your hopes too high. Sore, you will be...
