  1. WAToday.com.au has picked it up. Yeah, the comments on Lost Perth and other sites are much nicer.
  2. Lost Perth has picked it up. The mainstream media has been in touch.
  3. I think Freefall was operating for a short while at the start of the season as I have some photos of Kraken and Freefall, which really surprised me.
  4. The new car park seems to be taking shape nicely and it looks like they've laid some foundations for the new entrance structure, but that second car park still looks like a paddock from what I could see.
  5. Yeah, I think a Gerstlauer family coaster with a bit of ride time and theming would be perfect. We also need a decent flume ride. I wonder how long Freefall/Inferno will last. Hopefully, a couple more years.
  6. I think a lot of people are now looking for a replacement for Bounty's Revenge. It will be interesting to see if this changes AW's future plans or brings the second addition up earlier.
  7. I checked WIlipedia before I posted and it was listed as a past ride. That and the official comment from AW was what I went with. Betcha the mainstream media pick this up either tomorrow or Monday.
  8. Yeah, I didn't see it coming either. I was actually telling someone on my page a few weeks ago that I thought it was just being refurbished.
  9. Interesting. Thanks for your helpful comments, TD. Some people just don't believe the news. Had a lot of activity as of late. I had a couple of posts do well overseas, 150000 and 180000 post reach with the snake in the pool video reaching 270000. 25000 followers as of today.
  10. Yeah, it was hard to find any reference point. Posted about it yesterday and some people just can't believe it. It's going pretty nuts out there. 117000 post reach and it's going up about 10000 an hour.
  11. Gone, baby, gone. This is where the ride would have been.
  12. Wow, that's some reaction. People are pretty attached to that ride and were surprised about the decision. Judging by what's happened so late in the offseason, I reckon it's broken down and they can't get parts or it's a structural problem they can't fix. I'd like to think it's some part of a master plan, but I think it's hit its used by date and someone's had to make the tough decision.
  13. It also had great capacity, something the park will sorely miss.
  14. There was a crane there, but I just presumed it was a refurb. Will check it out soon.
  15. Thanks @Mark Shaw. The future looks very promising. I hope you haven't sold out of Platinum memberships yet.
  16. Great article, @Richard. Nice way of summing up all of the clues Mark has been feeding us. I know plenty of people in WA will be interested in what happens next. Hope to see you out here sometime.
  17. Yeah, good point @joz. I don't mind what they're trying to do and I have listened to their first three episodes. I just find that they're really harsh on our local parks. They were analysing the differences between MW's Star Tour and Dreamworld's behind the scenes tours and they were trying to evaluate how much the Star Tour would cost and were going through the list of things included and they said morning tea would probably be a packet of Arnotts and a jar of Nescafé when clearly, if they had read anyone's report on here, that was not the case. It was almost like they were making jokes at the park's expense. I want to support all the new bloggers. This is an audio podcast @reanimated35, so it's kind of like listening in on a phone call. I'll give them a few more weeks too.
  18. Despite the extensive coverage on here, the guys at the Theme Parks Downunder Podcast reckon the morning tea will be a packet of Arnotts. Always great to hear them trash talk our local parks. http://www.themeparksdownunder.com
  19. I was there that day, but didn't stay for the fireworks. In this article it claims that guests had to be evacuated, where in everything else I've read about the event it sparked up early the next morning. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/perths-adventure-world-fun-park-sues-fireworks-company-over-fire-that-destroyed-iconic-castle/news-story/6d85d77e31c9560cd6936422a190758e
  20. Paid a visit to AW last weekend. Plenty of work has happened on the $1.5 m upgrade to the car park. The old car park has virtually been erased. I hoped they kept some of those trees or have better ones to put in. Love the reverse GOT sign at the corner too. A few of the rides, like Bounty's Revenge and Rail Rider seem to be getting some attention. It's hard to see what's happening with the old lake area, but it appears to be completely filled in. There are new lockers being installed as well as cabanas constructed. There are some pegs marking ground in the south-east corner which is probably more shade, although it could be that kids' Tornado that was mentioned on AW's Facebook page last year. According to the latest advert emailed out, Water Mountain now has a wild west type of theme.. should be interesting. That's a lot of money spent for a non-capex year. Plenty of Pokemon action out that way, too. Found Pikachu in the park opposite.
  21. They could always mix it up by doing different rides on different tours, so no one tour is the same.
  22. Or maybe a drunken weekend because you could never wakeup from that nightmare? ? I'd have to say 'It follows' would have to be my favourite horror film of the last couple of years. I'm not sure how successful a maze that would make. Does MW sell those beating hearts like Universal does so that the closer a zombie is to you the faster the heart beats?
  23. You know it's this kind of experience that might actually make me go back to the Gold Coast again in the near future. Funny thing about these 'gold class' exclusive events is that it's hard to go back to being a regular visitor to the park. It's kind of like when you get a cabana at Adventure World - very nice. Congrats on the coverage, TPG, great review. You guys look like you're getting along famously. Which Facebook pages covered yesterday's ST? It seems like there were a bunch.
  24. Anyone want to claim responsibility for the Theme Parks Downunder Podcast? It looks like it has just started in the last month. It certainly is the year for theme park blogging. https://m.facebook.com/tpdupodcast/?tsid=0.5987805563490838&source=typeahead
  25. I think it's really easy to sell a theme park website - it's cool stuff people want to read about - so often you'll reach more people than Facebook thinks. The problem with boosted posts is that after two weeks they can be hidden from view. Advertising for even a week will really boost your numbers. The ideal target market would be 13-30 year olds.
