  1. Looks like Alton Towers is going the VR route on one of their coasters. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153704168771201&id=21765316200
  2. Yeah, a coaster, not the Mad Max: Fury Road Stunt Show we know that they should build.
  3. Went to MW last January and didn't find wait times too long. It worked out okay as two of us rode the rollercoasters and the other two in our party did the meet and greets all afternoon. I think capacity has really suffered since the demise of the shows. You could spend the same amount of time in the Movie Magic Special Effects Show as you could waiting for SE. Someone from operations needs to visit a Japanese theme park to see how they load trains there. Slow loading also encourages people to buy fast passes (which is one way to get around those big crowds), but in doing so makes the wait time longer for everyone else.
  4. Yeah, it would be interesting to see if AW ever got to the stage where they pre sell all their fast passes before the day. Yeah, I think with USS it's worth waiting to see what the queues are like when you arrive at the park. I'm not sure if Australians can pre purchase fast passes for USJ, where they're pretty much essential. USJ certainly made it more of a challenge to prepurchase entry tickets as there are so few sellers here.
  5. The only problem with that is if you buy them for friends who don't show up - they're only valid for the day you got them. Just used fast pass at USS - I think AW's $35 pricing is pretty good compared to Universal's $70 (almost as much as it costs to get it).
  6. Dreamworld could use VR in their laser tag or on an old rollercoaster to give it a new theme.
  7. Yeah, the site looks better. It seems that you can buy your fast passes online - could you do that before?
  8. Yeah, they could have phrased that email better. I thought they advertised the fact that you had to use your passes up before January too well. They always let people use their mates' rates passes before the end of January. With regards to the platinum pass there were probably a couple of reasons why I didn't get one - the lack of a season long fast might be one (just one or two wasn't enough); I didn't want the merchandise; you couldn't do it online and it didn't have 8 discounted passes like the early bird special had. I do think most people would turn up to AW to use their fast passes - AW doesn't exist for a lot of people until it hits the magic 27 degrees.
  9. This story is getting a bit of a run on the BBC news channel at the moment. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-33988909
  10. Fast pass is great, but I prefer to attend AW during the quiet periods when it's not required. I thought it was interesting that season members are allowed to use their 40% off tickets, already. I thought the email was a little negative about AW's attendance not being as high as expected.
  11. Got to experience the Occulus Rift at the Singapore Science Centre, today. It's amazing how how real it seems. Here's a virtual reality theme park chain from the US.
  12. It insinuates Jurassic World not Jurassic Park. It would be strange if those two were split. Could make for a great park - something that could attract a lot of visitors to the Gold Coast.
  13. People seem to be happy about the water proof bag solution. They even commented that they could put their necklaces in it (there seems to have been a crack down on them recently).
  14. Yeah, you would be more likely to sustain an injury from the DK station. There might be garden below the netting, then concrete, then the pump room. The e-stop is quite a distance from the edge, so is the reverse, from memory. I have seen a few problems with some chairs locking, but they're usually recorded and dealt with long before the end of the station. I saw a problem with the top e-stop being re-set (restarting from a stop), but it doesn't sound like this was the case.
  15. The grass bank would imply it's the top chairlift station, which doesn't have the netting. The e-stop is the red button in the middle. The chairlift can also reverse its direction quite quickly too.
  16. Agree, grrofunger.. that's terrible news. Didn't something similar happen to Dreamworld's chairlift?
  17. Whilst Dreamworld and Movie World have lots of attractions they do not understand service. They are miles behind Adventure World in this regard.
  18. Will this ever stop?! All they had to do was remove four digits!
  19. Thanks Spacemtfan and welcome. Great theming, it's similar in someways to the Storm Coaster in Queensland. The problem with the queue area for the Kraken is that it's not a normal waterslide tower: it's a hill that also has a chairlift station, speed slides and the Freefall tower. You could also get to the top of the hill three different ways. I've also seen ride ops complete their four from the fast pass queue as well as the normal line. It seems to work, it's just really popular and busy at the moment.
  20. ^Went on one of those 12D Cinemas today in Busselton, WA. Huss also makes some interesting-looking movie based rides (Soarin' much?). It would be great to see one of our parks get something like this. http://www.hussrides.com/en/film-based-rides/movie-base
  21. They've actually got crocs at the Grand Prix Raceway for people who have forgotten their shoes, so they can still ride.
  22. Good point about the nuts, Tim. I think AW could have a sign saying the average wait time from this point. Like Abyss is probably a half hour wait from the bottom of the stairwell. It would at least give people new to the park a few clues.
  23. There's always a way to avoid queues. It helps if you do your research and get there early. The fast pass was really efficient at avoiding the queues. More power to Adventure World for doing so well.
