  1. Jurong Bird Park managed to remove their monorail track in a couple of years after it closed. Their panorail was a similar vintage to Seaworld's monorail (actually 5 years younger). It makes you wonder about running costs and parts for such an old fleet. Also managed to ride the cable cars at Disney World before they closed them.
  2. Wow - great night. The scarers were an awesome bunch, who really suited their characters. The rides looked fantastic at night and had suitably long queues. The Bounty's Revenge has a very cool lighting package. Abyss had the flames and follow spot action happening too.
  3. Love the graveyard bar they've set up near Abyss. Lots of amazing scarers out. Abyss also has the flames going.
  4. Adventure World's Fright Nights has sold out for tonight. The queue for Kraken is going down to the top of the speed slides, although around 2pm the wait was only 30 minutes. I have seen Mark running around and cleaning up.
  5. Yeah, that sucks. Always enjoyed going on the Skyway. I think we all knew it had a pretty low hourly capacity and we didn't mind the wait. I'll miss that view of the park. If they have this attitude of the Skyway, how do we know they won't close the monorail? I think they have to invest in some more transportation options.
  6. It will be good to have the ride back. I wonder how Thrillseekernomore feels about the reopening.
  7. What about that AstroTurf stuff that they have under the tree and the high traffic areas?
  8. 2015 Adventure World Movie World Sea World Dream World Luna Park Melbourne Tokyo Disneyland Tokyo Disneysea Universal Studios Japan Universal Studios Singapore (next month) 2016 Adventure World Universal Studios Singapore
  9. Cat bus transport? Saw the film Bakuman, yesterday, so I'd say at least one land dedicated to Manga.
  10. I suppose it would have been nicer if the pavement had a softer surface. Steep hill too - that gradient up the top will slow people down. Chicken Caesar Salad - how was it? As good as Mark says? It's good to see AW clarifying the situation with Fright Nights and season passes.
  11. That's pretty cool theming. http://www.ausparks.com.au/2015/10/worlds-tallest-spider-sculpture-finds-home-at-jamberoo/
  12. Space Mountain Mission 2 is very intense. Journey to the Centre of the Earth had some pretty thrilling moments in it too.
  13. And in case you haven't seen this yet, another great video from Adventure World.
  14. With regards to testing, I had seen that footage before. Yeah, you would think that a ride manufacturer would use everything at their disposal in order to test a new ride concept: why not a computer simulation and a real track with elements of the final design? Often at Boeing they'll do those forced pressurisation/de-pressurisation tests on air frames until they break or in skeetafly's example of a building design.
  15. Pirates is not always in the jungle/adventure area. Disney doesn't surrender customers easily, unless we're talking about an Ocean Park-Disneyland HK relationship. On the whole, Disney gets customers = Disney keeps them. I'd imagine if they had a Disneyland in Australia it would start off smaller than the Hong Kong one. It'd be charming, but it'd be small.
  16. Why couldn't S&S have built a test track somewhere? It's good that GL appears to be heading to re-opening as it's an excellent ride and so much fun. Are we presuming the trains are the original stock and they've just got new wheel assemblies?
  17. Did you go back again, grrofunger? I heard it was quite quiet at the park, yesterday, because of the rain (and the fact that it was under 27 degrees). Adventure World's Facebook Page also picked up my review of the Kraken and my recent 'Unauthorised Guide to Adventure World' post on my blog, which was nice of them.
  18. Sounds a little like the Space Mountain they have in Paris. It's interesting that Disney builds a lot of clones of its e-ticket attractions and then builds one that just bit different. I also think these ones break the rule too: Jungle Cruise HK Splash Mountain Tokyo Big Thunder Mountain Paris And then there's a different kind of thrilling Disney coaster - Journey to the Centre of the Earth. It starts off like a great dark ride, then turns into a coaster, racing around the top of a volcano.
  19. It's odd that the Kraken doesn't appear on a lot of the signage around the park or on the website. I presume the website is because of the upgrade that's coming.
  20. Yeah they opened the car park gate around 9.30am on Saturday and the ride started at 10am. I think that's a good way to manage crowds. I noticed that the Grand Prix raceway did not have a very long queue, about 15 minutes or so on the weekend.
  21. Yeah, Disney wasn't so bad, but people were going nuts for the whole Halloween thing at USJ. They must have 3 parades a day at these parks. The whole Harry Potter Wizarding World was great and there are always those little shows and street performances to watch. The wait times are always less than the advertised amount, but the Japanese are professional queuers. They're also incredibly polite.
  22. Good report grrofunger. Can't believe it was that busy on a weekday. I rode it twice with about half an hours' wait in total, so the key is to get there early. Suddenly the fast pass is looking a lot more attractive.
  23. Interesting point. They also spelt story the American way (i.e. not storey).
