  1. It all really needed to be done. There's still more to go. If I recall correctly, that is one of the areas they were looking at next. Can't recall if it was that or the back of park area around the animals. Might be that way actually with the new Aboriginal stuff. It's one of those things that's on the cards if timing and funding permit, but don't hold your breath on it happening anytime soon.
  2. We all know that's what it is, but it's more about the execution of it and the area around it. More importantly @Theme Park Girl @JaggedJanine - was there any steam yet?
  3. Of all the travelling rides, I miss the sizzler the most. http://www.affordablerides.com.au/sizzler.html
  4. Keeping with the same theme, a KrackenRACER would fit the space nicely.
  5. I *think* that's just the normal VIP pass which isn't "Membership, Premier, or Elite". Is it a hard plastic card or just a laminated one? If you want 1000% confirmation, just call the helpline (13 33 86) though.
  6. Pics hadn't loaded before. Seems kind of odd really having the opening launch party after the opening, but I guess having a 'soft' launch pretty much ruins it anyway. Meh.
  7. With the launch party happening saturday night, I'd be more inclined to think the official opening is Sunday, just like it was for the Sea World Plaza.
  8. I don't care about the pricing. I just want a normal damn sesame seed bun!
  9. Canon vs. cannon. The noun canon can refer to a few things, including (1) a code of laws, (2) an established principle, (3) a group of exemplary literary works, and (4) the works of a writer that are accepted as authentic. Cannon mainly refers to a large weapon that fires heavy projectiles.
  10. 1-1.5hr per maze. About the same per ride. If you're doing it once only, get a fast pass.
  11. A nearly 5 minute cycle to only go over once?! Surely they could have at least gone around 2 or 3 times before stopping.
  12. Whoever wen to the effort of neatly stacking them and keeping them reasonably in line, did an absolutely terrible job of keeping them in order.
  13. I'd say the double door is the exit which there would be a clearly marked entry on the other side. People manage at other places, but yes, @Gazza you're right, somehow theme parks do tend to bring out the stupid in people. In saying that though, people manage at other shops on main street without hysteria so after the initial thrill of a new shop dies down, they should be right.
  14. @Theme Park Girl - Just listened to your video again - did you actually find the wet floor to be slippery? I found it to be quite grippy and easy to walk on. Same goes with the bituman walkway. Also looking at the location of that hut, I'm guessing maybe it could be used for animal adventures with the seal meet & greet? The one downside I just realised about this place too - when it rains, the monorail will come through potentially dripping water onto certain tables. Might be something they can look at in future with some kind of drip tray under the track? Sure it wouldn't look as sleek, but might be needed.
  15. I hope that ramp gets themed with a rock wall or something to hide the stairs. Might even double as a storage area for the park that way too.
  16. Are you suggesting some sort of discrimination against non-parents?!?!?!
  17. I'm impressed how quickly they got all the decorations and stuff replaced with the tables.
  18. To me it kind of looks like a mash up between main street at MW, the sea lion theatre, and dockside tavern. I honestly don't know what theme you'd call it, but it matches the look and feel of the surrounding area IMO.
  19. Yeah, while that looks great, especially for a shopping centre, @Theme Park Girl, I was thinking he was referring to the actual shop fronts, not the area theming.
  20. Ah ok @joz that makes more sense now. @djrappa - Am I overthinking this or is there actually a shopping centre with this kind of theming to their shop fronts? And if so, so you happen to have any photos of this?
  21. I disagree that the new facades are bland. They look great and fit the area and theme quite well. It would have been nicer if they managed a way to have the pillars behind the shop fronts though. Also, what shopping centres have you been visiting that look anything like the plaza? I've clearly been going to the wrong, un-themed places.
  22. @joz I'll have to both agree and disagree with you on that. You seem to be looking at it purely from a day to day theme park venue. You need to look at it as both a day to day park area, AND an after hours entertainment venue. This, and MW Main Street are always going to have small things they could improve to be a better either day venue or AH venue. Having seen the Plaza set up as an entertainment venue, while I don't want to be responsible for giving too much away before the advertising comes out, there was plenty of entertainment, stages and 'pop-up' inclusions in the area which made it look great. Even the carnival games played a part and kept the VIP's entertained. It's a fine balance between a day to day operation and an after hours event venue, and personally I think they've done it really well.
