  1. They were painting the track when I was there the other day.
  2. Does it really matter if the correct names for the rides have not been listed??? Everyone on this site knows what I am talking about, but I suppose for simple minded people like you jjuttp I'll make sure I have the correct names written down in the future so you don't have to spend a day or two looking them up to see what I am talking about.
  3. Yeah we did Sea World for a whole day. It was our "rest" day as there aren't too many rides there. Jet Rescue was as good as ever, but while we were there the roller coaster was closed for maitenance. Bermuda triagle was obviously shut so there was a decent line up for the log ride. Just standing there looking at the Bermuda/Log ride area, my thoughts are that they should bulldose the whole lot and build something else in there (don't ask me what). There's plenty of room there but I suppose it comes down to money. We think Sea World (for the type of park it is), is a really good day out.
  4. I've just come back from the Goldy after spending 2 weeks there and during that time my family and I hit the parks 14 times. I just wanted to make a few comments of my obsservations of the parks from a person who only visits annually. I know people in these forums are passionate about certain elements of the Gold Coast Parks so I would like to point out at the start that these are MY observations/thoughts and I am not having a go and anyone in particular. Movieworld - We went there 4 times and couldn't get over the amount of people in the park at this time of the year. All in all the experience at Movieworld was great. Superman - we went of Superman 13 times. The water coming down the stairs wasn't working but that didn't bother us. Everyday we were there, there was at least a 30min wait time for Superman. With Leathal Weapon, Batman the ride,Batman slingshot, and Looney tunes river Ride not open, I thought it would have been better to run 2 trains on Superman to help take the strain of the extra people. A positive about Superman was that they were running it in the rain, which was a first for us. Green Lantern - Great ride and we got caught on it when it broke down one day. It's such a shame they put it in the carpark. Walking through the themed area is good, but all of a sudden you are out of the park ( it felt a bit like getting on a ride at a local carnival). Scooby doo - everything seemed to be working and always a fun ride. There was plenty of work going on in the old leathal weapon area. Wet N Wild - Another 4 visits. It's a shame that there is obviously staffing cut backs as some rides opened alternatively. The black hole had both tubes running with water, but due to only one person up the top, they could only send people down one tube which made the wait for it over 30 minutes. Aqua Loop - What a waste of money. I went on it and it's a great slide, but easily 30% of the people who went on it failed to make it over the loop and that's even AFTER you are weighed. Dreamworld - Buzzsaw - What the??? It was a great new experience, but I felt that there was something missing from it and when I got off I was thinking, " Was that it?" Maybe 2 full laps around it might have made it more complete. Shockwave was a great new ride. The Dreamworks area was starting to look pretty good and at least dreaworld added a few temporary kiddies rides around the park to make up for the ones closed while they work on the new area. We still had a great time and will be back again soon.
  5. Yeah was just looking at the new website for Movieworld. Looks good.
  6. We try for the front of Superman. Sometime it's luck to get there, but other times we ask. As for Leathal Weapon, it doesn't really matter because after the first 50 metres of track your head is bashed so much that the rest of the ride is all blurry and you can't hear anything other than ringing in your ears!!!!
  7. Looks like someone has parked their caravan under there and covered it up with a tarp. Just a theory. Before everyone jumps down my throat, I am joking.
  8. Great Ride and great quality video. Thanks for putting it out there for all to see.
  9. My family and I are heading to the Gold Coast for our annual bash at all the parks for the first 2 weeks in March. Like most other people, I am a bit upset that both LTRR & BATR2 are closed. Also, at the time we will be there, Lethal Weapon and Batman Slingshot will also be closed for maintenance. I have no issues with these rides being closed for maintenance as we always go out of peak season and you have to expect something will be closed. Ive been reading this thread about LTRR & BATR2 and decided to send an email to Movieworld asking when they will be opened again. i know it was a long shot to get any information out of them, but they did send a reply. As to when they will be re opened, all I can say is it will be AFTER the first 2 weeks in March. It's not much information, but I hope it answers some of your questions. A part of their reply is below for all to read...... "Thank you for your recent e-mail to Warner Bros. Movie World. Due to the fact that we are a year round operation, it is necessary for us to close our attractions from time to time so that general maintenance can take place. At your time of visit Lethal Weapon and Batwing Spaceshot will be closed. The new attractions replacing Batman the Adventure Ride and Loony Tunes River Ride will not be operational at this time. Please be aware though that this is subject to change so I would suggest that you continue to check the website at www.movieworld.myfun.com.au which will have all the latest information about Warner Bros. Movie World updated regularly. For specific information about attractions maintenance, please visit: http://www.movieworld.myfun.com.au/Attractions-Maintenance.htm I hope this information has been of some assistance, but if you do have any other queries please do not hesitate to contact Guest Services directly on (07) 5573 8497 or by return email."
  10. No it doesn't need a make over. It looks great as it is now. Are you asking because you "really" think it needs something done to it, or do you just want to make another thread for everyone to read your name in it????
  11. I can only rate Australian rides as I haven't been overseas, 1) Superman 2) Scooby Doo 3) Jet rider 4) Wild West Falls 5) The Claw As for the worst, I don't have any. My theory is that any ride is 'good' no matter how 'bad' it is. It's better then being at work that's for sure!!!!!
  12. My first ever ride on Scooby Doo was exciting as it broke down, We'd just completed the backward drop and then all the lights came on and the ride stopped. For a moment there I thought it was actually part of the ride. It took a couple of minutes to get it going again and then it was business as usual.
  13. It's a great time to go. Last Feb my kids rode the Road Runner Roller Coaster 7 times in a row without having to get out of their seat. I know it's not a big thrill ride, but it's an indication of how many people AREN'T there at that time of the year. You may get the odd storm in the arvo, but that's a good thing because it usually sends a lot of people home and the last hour you just smash the ride while no one is around.
  14. It's a great night. They keep the odd slide open as well which are unreal to ride in the dark.
  15. I got stuck on Superman Escape at the section where it stops and then launches you out. The ride stopped, Superman said he was going to get us out and then NOTHING. They then told us over the PA to sit tight and someone would be there in a few minutes. People turned up but said they couldn't get us out of our seats as the ride was "primed" and could go off at any moment so we had to wait another couple of minutes until it was safe to get out. They then plugged something into the side of each seat and opened them up so we could get out. I was in the back, so I was last out and we then walked through a tunnel under the ride to get out. It all took around 20 minutes so it was also the longest roller coaster ride i had ever been on!!!
  16. I've noticed that Superman now has 2 regular maintenance periods each year for 2 weeks each. That's almost 8% downtime not including every time it breaks down each day.. To me that's a bit excessive for such a big draw card. Surely it's not past it's "used by" date already.
  17. Great Pics themeparknut2011. I'm not convinced that the fencing they have constructed is the right way to go. When you walk through the front gates at MW you are completely removed from the outside world and only come back down to reality when you leave and go home. My feeling is that when I walk out to Green Lantern, I'll be walking out to another ride in the carpark. It will be like going to the local show when it comes to town. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait until I go on the ride, but I hope they do more to 'include' it into the park.
  18. Should I pack my gumboots to get across the creek to get to the coaster????
  19. Just like Wyncenuros, we get a locker each time we go. Pile all our junk in there and there's no problems on anything we want to do. At MW the lockers are virtually in the middle of the park so it's easy to duck back and get stuff out of it. Problem solved.
  20. We holiday at the Goldy every March and the longest we have ever waited for a ride would have been 15 minutes for Superman and that was for a rain delay. The good thing about that was all the people in front of us left, so we got the front seat. Most lines are really short at that time of the year so we are usually only waiting for the current run to finish so we can get straight on. My kids have been on Road Runner Roller Coaster 7 times without getting out of their seat. They only got out then because they started to fell a bit off!!!
  21. Has anyone read this? "BATMAN Adventure - The Ride 2 will be closing permanently from Monday the 15th of October 2011 to make way for an exciting new attraction." Is this to do with Green Lantern or are they going to build something new there as well?
  22. My theory is that they will launch what ever they are going to turn Looney Tunes River Ride into. That will be their new major attraction for 2011. The building is there so all they have to do is put something in it and promote it as a 'new attraction'. I can't see anything being built from scratch there this year.
  23. My parents took me there in the 70's. Yes there was a shark tank and from memory it had some fairly large beasts in there. The rides were rough and ready but were absolutely great fun. I can remember playing my first ever arcade game there which was the first version of Space Invaders. Fond memories!!!
  24. When you go to Movie World get there as early as you can and do all the rides first. That way the line up for the rises will be a little less. After that you can check the rest of the park out. Wet n Wild is great to go to when it's raining. The crowds stay away and you are going to get wet anyway.
