  1. Might have been because they rebuilt most of the track in house when Storm was built. After the Dreamworld tragedy, it quickly became apparent that one of the contributing factors was that Dreamworld made their own modifications to Thunder River Rapids which hadn't been approved by the manufacturer! At a guess, Sea World probably decided it's not a good idea to do that!
  2. As far as a place where it fits, it could go where Sea Viper was (so room for a decent coaster), or where Vikings Revenge was (room for a reasonable size water ride or coaster), and that's not including the reclaimed land or the numerous smaller areas where other types of rides could go.
  3. In years to come, he'll think back to the garbage he used to post on this forum, and he'll be thoroughly disgusted.
  4. It isn't very realistic for anyone other than a huge international theme park chain (the preferred purchaser) or a billionaire who cares very deeply about the project and is prepared to spend big! But that's what my ideas are based on.
  5. I'd firstly engage very well qualified and experienced people to work on a long term strategy for the park. I don't know what exactly that would be, but as the owner I would specify the things below, and consult on the rest which would need my approval. That might take a year. Then I'd close the park for 18 - 24 months for major redevelopment. Upon reopening, it would have a new name, and a new coherent theme. The animals might still be there, as might the waterpark, depending on the outcome of the long term strategy. As much as I loved the idea of SkyVoyager, I believe it's now very much tainted with negative perception of its safety. I might rebuild it in a new location and new building, again only if it fits the new theme and plan for the park. The new park would NOT have any of the land sold off (if it's not already too late), and would make full use of all the land (but that doesn't mean it would be overcrowded, or that there wouldn't be any open space within the park. As much as I like the Disneyland copy entrance, it would all be removed and replaced to make it obvious from guests arrival that it's not Dreamworld anymore, but a completely new park! There would be a themed hotel giving guests the ability to have a holiday at the park, a bit like the one at Sea World, but themed as I said, and more luxurious. There would be a range of very good quality, unique, but affordable family restaurants in suitable locations throughout the park. There would be very high quality, unique entertainment both in "street theatre" style, and in one or more purpose built venues, and this entertainment would be refreshed frequently. The park would include a wide range of rides, all very well themed and immersive, and none similar to rides already at other Gold Coast parks. Pricing would be competitive with Village, but would start considerably cheaper to help get people to come back and give the new park a try.
  6. I went to a course not long ago where there was a written multiple choice test at the end of the course, and the trainer actually told us all the answers as we went through the "test". Not only that, but he even told us why he did this. He said his manager had told him "Everybody has to pass. No exceptions! "
  7. Interesting article. Not sure how much actual use this will prove to be. http://www.mygc.com.au/dreamworld-launches-new-staff-training-academy-to-improve-park-standards/
  8. I have a vision. A Dream, if you will. 10 years from now, rather than being merely Australias biggest theme park, it could be the WORLDS biggest chill space. In fact, to completely remove themselves from the negative association, they could even change the park name to "Chill-Space" (Quick. Trademark it now)! It would be very cheap for Ardent to run. No staff required. No rides. Minimum maintenance. Just a lot of benches and shaded areas, and most of the shade could be provided naturally by trees! Now people would surely come from all around the world to take selfies in the worlds biggest chill space, no? And with the modern international obsession with taking photos of yourself, I'm only half-joking! 😅
  9. Any Dreamworld staff lucky enough not to be made redundant, take note that this is what you can expect when you go into retirement!
  10. I was trying to give you the benefit of assuming you didn't have the necessary basic knowledge of how to recognise who a question is directed to, but you seem not to have the requisite common sense to understand that so I don't think I can help.
  11. Nope. It was a question directed to the person who posted the photo. Wow!
  12. I love shopping centres that have empty shops on display for people to look at. If they just remove all the stock but let you see the empty shelves and fixtures. It's so nice.
  13. It was a question for me to answer! I'm glad they haven't!
  14. Does anyone know what happened to the memorial Dreamworld promised not long after the tragedy? To me it looks like once again they've missed a glaringly obvious opportunity. They could at least have come up with a nice plaque or similar surrounded by beautiful flowers, and yes it could have a few suitable benches or something, and a bit of shading, and then I think I'd have been much more accepting of that as a replacement for SkyVoyager. But no. Instead, no plaque but just a "Piss-Weak World" style shaded seating area!
  15. Movie World had a magician (Matt Hollywood) last year performing several times a day during the school holidays in Main Street. Short shows with only a small audience of whoever was close by at the time. It was a very good show though!
  16. All valid theories, but just as with Dreamworlds SkyVoyager delay, why can't they just be completely honest and tell their customers the full and frank truth about what's happening and why?
  17. Not on its own. If they had an inspiring and exciting madterplan for the park, clearly communicated what that plan was, and invested heavily each year for the next 5-10 years to implement it, then as a first part of that plan SkyVoyager could certainly help. Sadly, none of the above is true!
  18. Is it really fair to expect the audio to work? That would mean employing the worlds best audio engineers who are in extremely high demand, and. .. Oh. They could just nip down to JB Hifi and buy some speakers and plug them in. Well, perhaps they should try the first option.
  19. I have to agree, given the evidence. But how that level of incompetence could exist when none of the senior personnel have any previous theme park experience whatsoever baffles me!
  20. In that case, maybe it is just that some of the curved panels at the front don't quite line up, as I have said previously. In any case, I still don't see why Dreamworld would want to be so secretive about such things. On the contrary, it would be very much in their interests to be completely open and honest about it!
  21. I WAS very excited to have what I thought would be my first of many goes on SkyVoyager. I'm pretty sure I will still go on it if and when it eventually opens, but I have to be honest, I've lost a lot of my confidence in the safety of the ride due to the very lengthyunexplained delay. Unexplained, that is, apart from vague second hand rumours about safety issues. Safety issues, ON A BRAND NEW RIDE!!! Alarm bells and sirens going off in my thoughts about that! As I said, I do still want to go on, but I will probably not want to be one of the first. Has anyone else had similar thoughts?
