  1. They've just finished removing Thunder River Rapids, which was a huge ride. The disused Eureka Mountain Mine Ride has also gone, as has the Gold Rush area. They might well have plans to remove some other rides but it shouldn't be done all at once, otherwise the place would feel like a ghost town! With the Lego store and restaurant at the entrance, SkyVoyager, complete resurfacing of Main Street, new large screens on Main Street, new revolving globe near the entrance, recently redeveloped Tiger Island and Coroberree, and the current expansion of Whitewater World including new Adventure River, the redevelopment of the ice cream shop and coffee shop at the front of the park a few years ago, new Trolls Village including Trolls Funhouse, it's very hard NOT to see the investment that's happening, but of course it does take time! 😀
  2. That's a perfectly valid opinion. I just prefer to focus mostly on the positives, and there's plenty of that at Dreamworld!
  3. As someone who absolutely loves living in SE Queensland, and the amazing access we have to so many theme parks (Dreamworld being the largest), it saddens me to see so much negativity about it. This on a site that's all about theme parks, in a forum whose members love theme parks. Anyone who visits Dreamworld can easily see investment all around the park. Sure there's a lot more still to be done, but I would like to believe it will be. Of most immediate interest of course is SkyVoyager, which I'm sure will be one of Queenslands (and Australias) best theme park attractions! The atmosphere in Dreamworld is energetic, and most of the staff offer guests great friendly greetings (some train announcers excepted)! Exciting things are happening! Let's show our support for Dreamworld!
  4. I think both of the large white walls should feature the SkyVoyager logo with coloured digital lighting (I'd suggest mainly sky-blue) which constantly animate upwards and to the right, in a way that visually suggests "taking off". That would add an element of excitement, and if designed well could be in keeping with the high quality of the facade.
  5. There'll be an announcement on 7 news tonight about SkyVoyager!
  6. If you're in Whitewater World, you're in Dreamworld! Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll be able to not watch wildlife if you don't want to!
  7. The above article appears in todays Courier Mail, and I have to say it all looks like very good news to me (with the exception of the statement that SkyVoyager will open "within the next few weeks", as I thought it was due to open Boxing Day)! Nevertheless, if it's going to take a few weeks to ensure it's SAFE to open, that's ok by me.
  8. Well, to use a quote from A to the Lex to the B, that explains a lot!
  9. So in that position the only reason for the announcements is to assist with the guest experience, which obviously should be exciting and fun. I do wonder if you were actually serious about the comment you made but there's the rather obvious answer anyway. Have you met me?
  10. In stark contrast to the very funny announcements referred to earlier in this thread, a couple of the staff who do the announcements on the train really need some training! I'm on the train now and the guy sounds utterly bored by everything at Dreamworld!
  11. That's happened every day this week, with the possibile exception of yesterday when it was apparently closed all day. Just not a good look, especially so close to Christmas.
  12. Second day it's been closed. Just seems they had ample time to ensure it was ready before reopening this week.
  13. Former Jelly Bean shop is now a "Ride Express" office.
  14. I merely describe what I see! Queue rails now going in.
  15. Main Street and entry area have been completely resurfaced.
  16. Not much change today. Just tightening up the canopy
  17. Great ideas! I think it's ideas such as these that could actually make forums like Parkz useful to theme parks! If only they didn't contain so much immaturity, so management could take them seriously.
  18. I think if all that had happened was the ride had closed for the normal scheduled maintenance period a couple of years ago when all the original themeing was in, and when it reopened the themeing was like it is now, I would have found that quite good. I would have regarded it as a nice little minor upgrade. What makes it so incredibly disappointing is the fact that it's been so long without any themeing at all, and we've been waiting very patiently after being told it was going to be "next generation". I was therefore expecting much more than a nice little minor upgrade!
  19. Sorry if this sounds pedantic, but it is actually important to search for the correct thing in order to find what you're looking for. Tops was actually never in Myer, which is a department store. It was in the Myer Centre, which is a shopping centre. If you try searching for Tops in the Myer Centre you might have more luck finding the information you're looking for!
  20. Why would someone with such a poor opinion on Gold Coast theme parks join a forum that's all about enjoying them? Weird!
