  1. or how about $200? That would really ensure there were always plenty available.
  2. At the beach I lock everything except my car keys in the car, put the keys in a pocket of clothing I leave on the beach, and ensure I am able to see that clothing and reach it reasonably fast if necessary while in the water. I also only swim at a beach where there are very few people around. At the pool I use lockers. Some are free and the most I've paid is $4. Great idea! I usually avoid doing so, but thought I'd see if I could generate some sensible discussion. I'll refrain from doing so again!
  3. You're entitled to your opinion, but don't state it as a fact. That comes across as arrogance and it achieves nothing.
  4. I was thinking of a new building to replace the "Stars" building, unless the existing building turned out to be ideal. I should add that I'd consider this a "premium experience" and I'd expect to pay considerably more than I would for a similar meal in a normal restaurant. I'd be happy to!
  5. What a bizarre comment. I don't know anyone who would leave their valuables unsecured while they're in the water / on slides. Wouldn't be a fun experience to be left with no cash / card / license, keys, or phone. Also in wet bathers. Effectively everyone does have to use a locker unless they have someone with them who isn't going in the water. I seem to be alone in this belief here, which I find very odd, but lockers are an essential part of visiting a waterpark (just as they are an essential part of going on Superman) and they should be free. As I've already said, if more lockers are needed they should be bought.
  6. If they really must charge for using lockers at Wet & Wild / Whitewater World, I think $1 or $2 would be reasonable. $10 though is just insane, and effectively means my annual passes do NOT really include the waterparks because I have to pay $10 every time I go.
  7. I sincerely hope so. Also I'm now thinking the sign probably was meant to say what it says, in which case it's not a mistake, but it is a terrible sign which seems designed to put you off going on the monorail. Almost like going to a restaurant to be greeted by a sign saying "We will keep you waiting at least an hour for your order"! I'd love to see them invest in new monorail trains. It's Australias first monorail system, and it's now the last too! Given the broadbeach one was newer, and said to be approaching the end of its expected life when they demolished it, I worry the Sea World system can't last much longer without such investment. In the meantime, they should at least have both the remaining monorails operating at all times the park is open. For the length of the track two is the absolute minimum, and they should have 3 going when it's busy (like they had until a few years ago).
  8. Fair enough. Many people would go to Australian Outback Spectacular once then not return because "I've done that now". I've been many times. Just a personal preference I think. For that matter, the same could be said for rides. A few of my friends won't go on rides because they've been on them, and consider they've had the experience and see no need to repeat it (even though they say they enjoyed it). I have been on most rides many times but still enjoy them. Also though, the content of such 3d projection can be changed from time to time to keep it fresh and give people a new experience.
  9. Just came across this video and thought it would be absolutely perfect for Movie World. Could be great in any theme park of course, but as it demonstrates incredible new visual technology it would be best at Movie World. I would suggest in a new restaurant at the front of the park (where the old Stars bar used to be). Ideally in a new purpose-built building. Other possibilities would be a restaurant inside TopGolf, or the Movie World hotel. I await the childish nitpicking and sarcastic remarks, and "expert" financial anaysis from the usual suspects (which is just very boring), but thought I'd post this anyway as some people might find it interesting, and who knows - that might include people who could potentially make this happen!
  10. Thought I'd have a look at this while I'm here. It's much smaller than I expected, very small really, and has nothing to interact with except lots of small water jets. I could see little kids were having a bit of fun, but really nothing special at all. The volcano has a large hole in the back of it, which I can only assume is there for a reason. However the volcano is so small and set back from the splash area that it would be barely noticeable if there was an "eruption".
  11. Just noticed this sign at the front monorail station at Sea World. Obviously it should say "maximum wait time", not minimum! Anyone spotted any others? If someone unfamiliar with the ride took it literally, it could very well put them off using the monorail. I assume that's not the intention.
  12. I am embarrassed to think what senior management of the parks think when they see some of the comments on this forum. I am just very glad they obviously see them for what they are, and they appreciate the comments made by more intelligent people who contribute useful feedback on the parks, and don't get caught up in the childish insults.
  13. This isn't the thread for me to get into food. We could always discuss it in the relevant thread. Suffice to say you CAN get a high quality, reasonably priced, proper sit down and eat off a plate meal in a theme park. It can be an integral part of the experience of visiting the park. Believe it or not, some of it can even be appropriately themed too, and very much part of the entertainment! Like anything at a theme park it just requires imagination. I've seen it. I've eaten it. It's incredibly popular if done right!
  14. Given the number of Asian tourists who visit the parks, and the popularity of Asian food with aussies too, a good quality noodle bar is a guaranteed winner.
  15. I know there's a separate thread on this so won't go into much detail here, but dining options are something all the parks could massively improve! If done well, it could be an almost guaranteed source of ongoing revenue as most guests are going to want food and drink while at the parks. I acknowledge a few improvements have been made (such as Dirty Harrys), but if VRTP took a look at the dining options at some overseas parks (like Alton Towers for example) they could get some great ideas.
  16. Please don't put words in my name. I'll say what Push is! There's ample room for more lockers at Wet & Wild if they are needed, and they're not that expensive in the scheme of things.
  17. I completely agree, and I'm hopeful that Village now shares this vision. Judging by the comments in this interview, it would seem likely they do. The increased pass pricing will help provide the funds to build these. I've been to Alton Towers and Disneyland, so I know what a really good theme park (as opposed to fun park) is like! Thrills do sell, and all good theme parks need thrilling experiences. However that's just one part of the package. A great theme park has much more than just thrill rides. Thrills can also be a part of more comprehensive rides. Also rides are just one of numerous types of attractions a great theme park should have. I'm pretty confident Movie World at least is on the right track.
  18. Well I don't, and part of the reason is I'm often not there for a whole day. Usually only for a couple of hours, then I might go to Movie World. If it's free for one hour for Superman, it can be free for a few hours at Wet & Wild. It's not as if it costs much to operate and maintain them, and even if it did they are part of the park. I don't pay a separate fee to walk on the paths because they need maintenance. The funds just come out of general revenue, which comes from the price of tickets and passes, as well as food and merchandise.
  19. If $2 for the Superman lockers was annoying, I can't be the only one who absolutely detests paying $10 for a locker every time I go to Wet & Wild! If the lockers were free, or at least much cheaper, I'd go a lot more often, and I'd be very likely to buy a drink or snack / lunch while I'm there. As it is I never buy these after spending my spare cash on a locker.
  20. I don't think we need another DC Rivals. Something totally different, with a water / sea theme please!
  21. Good to see some sort of use made of the area again at last, and for young kids up to say 7 or 8 years, quite good fun. For those who have seen it before though, it's a very toned down version of what it was a few years ago (which I suppose matches the rest of Sea World overall really). For those older than 8 years of age, a sad waste of space. I'd like to think Village has an impressive masterplan for the whole park, of which this is just a short term part.
