  1. Dreamworlds massive competitive advantage could be if their simulator is included in the cost of Dreamworld admission / pass. That would make it a completely different value proposition than buying a single ticket for a single attraction. A far better one!
  2. It could be the swankiest theming of any ride in the world ever. It still doesn't take this long!
  3. Oh. That was there the last 2 years too!
  4. Whatever they do should be world class (and Craig did say it will be). Technology is moving fast, and it needs to be amazing to be worthwhile. Future proof as much as possible.
  5. I've been to White Christmas for the last 2 years. It's really not about the rides at all. It's about the Christmas dinner, the snow, the Christmas parade, and the overall atmosphere. If you get to go on a ride or 2 that's just a minor bonus, but certainly not an essential part of it. The snow certainly isn't new. I assume you're referring to the snow that falls during the White Christmas event in Main Street. It's been a big part of it the last 2 years.
  6. Go to a 7D cinema and watch the video I linked to above, then you'll understand better what they might potentially do. It's far more advanced than the 4d cinema at Movie World. Far more!
  7. I've now got a better understanding of what "Soarin'" is having seen the video below. I was sort of right that it's like a bigger version of a 7D cinema, but the seats are obviously able to move much more. I see no reason why the Dreamworld cinema couldn't be adapted to accommodate something similar with an Aussie theme, and why not. Could be brilliant (as long as they don't charge extra to use it)!
  8. I won't last long at all if it is, so I'll be more optimistic for now! He mentioned about the cinema building having a deep floor. To me that indicates an intention (however vague) to utilise that space under where the current seating is as part of a simulator ride of some sort. I haven't been to "Soarin'" myself so I don't know exactly what's involved really, but all I know that would be like the above is a very much larger version of a 7D cinema. That could be good potentially, or maybe a Soarin type attraction is different somehow.
  9. I think Craig has more or less said it will be themed to something Australian, but he also seemed to be hinting it might be somehow connected to a Universal studios theme, maybe. Perhaps some connection to an Aussie movie made by Universal (if there is one)? Will Ardent fund it properly? I hope so. We'll have to wait and see. Sounds like more details may be revealed after the AGM. My general thoughts? If it's done well, it may be a fantastic new attraction. Awesome even. If not, it might be something I'll visit and use occasionally, maybe.
  10. If it includes something like this, awesome! https://youtu.be/Wwzcn-gdeHc
  11. Whilst I have to agree with what Skeeta has said, I am cautiously optimistic, especially about what it sounds like they might be planning for the cinemas. If it's done well, I think that could become Dreamworlds premier attraction. I also agree with Craigs comments about the need to increase prices, and I've been saying that for a couple of years. The only thing I don't want is a whole load of new "pay extra" charges. I've always said passes should cost considerably more than they do, but every attraction should be included. Not entirely sure about the new area aimed at little kids. They've surely got enough of those. They should be focusing on attractions for the whole family (which includes older children and adults, not just little kids). Anyway, at least we're beginning to see some new ideas emerging. Hopefully it won't be too long before these are fleshed out and begin to be implemented! Reading between the lines, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ardents real medium term strategy is to sell the park once they've sold the adjacent land, and in the meantime they're investing a little bit in Dreamworld just to maximise the price they get for it once they do sell it.
  12. That's great in theory, but the only problem is that one of them is 10 minutes before they let people into that part of the park, and the other is well past park closing time.
  13. I don't think I've ever been on it. I certainly don't remember it. It looks very ordinary though, to say the least. They should have just put a bulldozer through it at the same time as the rest of the demolition is done. They've also had a whole year to plan a fantastic new attraction to replace it.
  14. Well, I dare to assume positive thoughts until I see reason not to. Even if I have to do so in a Warner Brothers inspired pure imagination!
  15. Fair points, but the chipped paint was on something that's been in storage for nearly a year. I would expect they should have been inspected and repaired either before being stored after last Christmas, or before being put on display this Christmas. The clock in question stops working frequently. If it's that unreliable it should be replaced. It's only a clock after all. Not expensive, and easy to source locally. Fair enough if the knight statue has to wait until the ride is closed for maintenance (which it is now), but I still say the cable should at least have been tucked away in the interim, and that's something anyone checking on it could have done immediately.
  16. There's more to theme parks than thrill rides! If they do what they say they will and they do it well, it could be fantastic.
  17. Surely there must be a manager (or several) whose job includes frequently walking around the park to check everything is ok. I know I've had jobs where that was an essential requirement. Assuming they do, I can't understand how they miss things like this, or the various other things I've mentioned in the "Simple Maintenance" thread. Little details can make a big difference to the guest experience!
  18. Well, we can always DREAM! I'd really like to believe some of these will actually turn out to be brilliant. Time will tell.
  19. That's the main reason I'd like to see some detail. Makes a massive difference!
