  1. It makes PERFECT sense now though with virtual reality. Probably the best themed ride in Australia now.
  2. I think the fact the wrap around the construction fence was pink might have been a hint that it's Wonder Woman, but that's only my gut reaction.
  3. Every time I think SE Qld can't get any better!
  4. Another report http://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/family-kids-news/35bn-uk-disneyland-set-open-12720760#ICID=sharebar_facebook
  5. I thought Movie World held the licensing for Warner Brothers branding, yet Dreamworld are using an iconic Warner Brothers song in their new TV ad. Maybe this is Movie World getting their retribution!
  6. Well slowly adding it back in after hours is exactly what I would have expected, but there's no sign of it yet. I just can't see it taking that long.
  7. I've been wondering about two things: Firstly, why did they remove the themeing in the first place, especially given that they were obviously nowhere near ready to replace it? Given this happened so soon after the comprehensive safety checks on all rides statewide after the Dreamworld incident, it makes me think there may have been some sort of safety issue with the themeing. I find that hard to believe, but if that's not the reason what else could it be? Secondly, when are they going to replace it? I asked that question today at the guest service office and also of one of the staff on the ride, and I was told they have very little information but the themeing will probably be put back next time Scooby is closed for maintenance. Well that's not scheduled until 28th August. Surely it doesn't take that long! Anyone got any ideas what's going on, and why it's taking so long?
  8. "Happy" is another obvious choice of song they could have used. Here's how a UK holiday company called "Butlin's" did it!
  9. Assuming they could have got the rights, I reckon this would have been a better choice of song to use. It includes the word "dream" (as in Dreamworld) multiple times, and also the word "happy" for a smooth transition from the previous campaign. Slogan could have been "Have a dream come true"!
  10. That is a great slogan for Dreamworld. No arguments from me on that!
  11. Looks like quite a good ad overall and certainly better than the "Happiness" one, but I agree completely about the poor choice of words at the start. Given the song is from a Warner Brothers movie, I think it would be a great ad for Movie World (with Movie World rides shown obviously). Perhaps the Dreamworld marketing agency were thinking of the wrong park, or maybe they were just lacking pure imagination! I do much prefer the logo without the spikes. Always found those very unsuitable, as were the vicious wolves either side of the Whitewater World logo.
  12. Looks awesome! If Alton Towers is anything to go by, Britain certainly knows how to do theme parks very, very well! Only thing they don't have much is good weather. Biggest problem there is most outdoor tourist facilities (including Alton Towers) close down each year during winter. That obviously has a big impact on their profitability.
  13. It would be a very long time before any possible new theme park was built there I think, but fantastic to see they've included land for that potential use.
  14. Well, that would be another way to have two completely different experiences available. The free one and one with a small price (similar to Arkham except even the free one would have a great theme throughout).
  15. I'm not necessarily saying I want them to do this, and I'm pretty certain they don't intend to, but imagine if they created virtual reality for the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. The big advantage as I see it is they could potentially create several different themed experiences, but all fitting the track layout. You would simply choose one as you get on the ride. Preferably you'd also wear a headset so you could hear sound appropriate to the theme you chose. This pretty much assumes everyone would use virtual reality (unlike on Askham where only a few seem to). Therefore I strongly believe there should be no additional charge for it if it was installed on SDSC. The big advantages of this would be: - No need for them to spend money on replacing the themeing they removed. Effectively they get several new themes, and virtually several new rides, with the ability to create more at relatively low cost (compared to a completely new built ride). - Riders get to ride it several times in one day but with completely different experiences. These need not necessarily be related to Scooby Doo (obviously they'd need to re-work the front facade and queue room). It could be sort of like a new-age "Choose Your Own Adventure" book! Anyway just an idea!
  16. Haha. That could have quite an interesting impact on queue times!
  17. The unnecessary nitpicking on this forum has really run its course (if it had one). Show some respect and common sense please!
  18. Seems odd that they surrounded it with semi-permanant fencing if they plan to reopen it. Good news though if they do.
  19. A very large portion (something like a third) of the Movie World carpark is now being fenced off.
  20. I'm now reconsidering the list of my all time favourite rides I posted just a week or so ago. Without a doubt Arkham with VR makes it onto that list now, probably quite high on it. I need to ride it a few more times to work out where on the list exactly but it's one of the best rides on the gold coast with VR for sure!
  21. I tried this for the first time yesterday. It's $5 which while I'd rather it was free isn't unreasonable and I hope they will make it free once they've recovered their initial cost a bit. I was very impressed at how well it's been done. Really makes Arkham Asylum into a proper themed experience. Flying over Metropolis and the interaction with The Joker and Batman were just brilliant. Going up the lift hill actually felt like being in a lift with no doors and you see interesting things as the lift passes each level. Overall a seamless and frankly awesome experience. The only thing that could make it even better would be sound.
  22. My list. This is just off the top of my head and only based on things I've personally experienced at the Gold Coast theme parks: 12 The fire machine and Beat Box shows at dreamworld. (I'd put them much higher on this list if they were permanent). 11 Thunder river rapids 10 Kevil Hill Zombie Evilution (as it is right now) 9 Sea World chairlifts 8 Sea World monorail 7 Imagine dolphin show at Sea World 6 Calypso Beach (Lazy River) at Wet & Wild 5 Movie World studio tours 4 Wild West Falls 3 SDSC (with all its themeing) 2 The original Hollywood Stunt driver (I never saw the Police Academy show) 1 Bermuda Triangle
