  1. If somehow my opinions about what makes great theme parks makes your head hurt, I can only suggest ignoring my posts instead of being so rude to me. That would be the mature way to deal with the problem you seem to think you have. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Lethal Weapon the same coaster that's now Arkham Asylum? If so I really can't see how it could have had a movie theme, but I'll give it the benefit of a doubt as I never rode it as Lethal Weapon.
  2. I wouldn't be interested in a coaster that's just a coaster for the sake of a coaster. There are some incredible coasters around the world and Movie Worlds new coaster would have to be as good as or better than in order to claim that it was "Worlds Best". I'm still not sure how a roller coaster could really have a Movie theme either unless it's part of a dark ride. I'm still hoping that this "Worlds Best" attraction will be something none of us has imagined so far, and won't disappoint.
  3. No way I'd go on that! Hopefully it will at least shorten the queues for the things I do want to go on.
  4. Page 13 of todays Courier Mail quotes General Manager Greg Yong as saying that The Doomsday Destroyer will be a "monsterous looping ride like nothing else ever seen at Movie World". To me this sounds like the earlier quote of "World Best theme park attraction" might have been a misquote of the same line. There's a massive difference obviously.
  5. Not sure if that was meant to be serious or not, but you have made me wonder if that is exactly what is going to happen! Provided the effects and "storytelling" remained as good as they are now, and preferably better, and as long as it was still a theme that was enduring and accessible to most guests (including me obviously lol) I'd be in favour of that.
  6. I'm not sure they've thought this one out. We live in a world filled with so much real destruction and terror, and every day brings more news of horrific cults which actually try to bring about an actual doomsday. The last thing people want to see or hear about at a theme park is stuff that sounds like more of it. Also it's definitely NOT good to be bad. What sort of messages might kids get from that? Disappointing marketing. I hope the reality of the development and the ride will be far more pleasant.
  7. No votes at all so far (as of the time I am writing this) for Sea World. I personally would have voted Sea World as the best theme park in the Gold Coast a few years ago (when Bermuda Triangle was still open and it had the chairlifts and miniature railway). I wonder how their visitor numbers now compare with those of back then.
  8. It was a good night, and I will be going again. However in my opinion Australian Outback Spectacular is a far more enjoyable dinner show. I've seen AOS 6 times since I arrived in Queensland this time last year, I'll be seeing it again in a few weeks, and I still find it just as enjoyable as the first time. Draculas on the other hand I will probably want to see again in a year or so. Best dinner show I've ever seen was the Fawlty Towers dining experience!
  9. To sum up my experience of Draculas: Ghost train - quite good, but could have been a lot scarier. More use of live actors needed and some sudden unexpected ride movements and sounds. Food - Very good except for the cold and dry asparagus. I had the Pork Belly. Music - Too loud. I couldn't have a conversation with friends. Jokes - Really terrible and cringe worthy. Mostly consisted of time fillers like making fun of different accents and country / racial stereotypes. Might have worked in the1960s. At the end of the evening they tried to tell us we couldn't leave until we had a wristband to prove we had paid for our drinks. That borders on false arrest, and there is a much better way which is just get people to pay for drinks when they order them! Despite my whinging I love the concept. It just needs a few things tweaking!
  10. I thought the DJ added to the overall energy of the show actually. Always important to have a human element.
  11. I couldn't care less if the DJ was "real" or not. Beat box was an awesome show.
  12. I think Bermuda Triangle was most peoples favourite. Seems we'll all have to go and live in Germany!
  13. I've never been on this............YET. I will be having my first ever visit to Draculas tomorrow though. Is the ride part better than a standard ghost train?
  14. I heard about the improvements to the WWF effects a couple of months ago from someone who works at the park. They didn't know anything specific though.
  15. I haven't been on any dark rides in Australia except for the ones in the Gold Coast. Are there any elsewhere? In my opinion, and of the ones I've been on and remember, the best ever was Bermuda Triangle. Now that's sadly gone, it's a very close call between Scooby Doo and Wild West Falls. If I had to pick the best of those two I'd say Scooby Doo. That could possibly change though once WWF has its effects overhauled.
  16. Thankfully it's not in Queensland, but Greenhills Adventure Park in SA closes down 1st May. I have spent quite a few happy days there with my nephew and niece when they were younger, and I think it had potential had the owners invested in it. Sadly they didn't. It's still exactly the same now as 20 years ago, and very run down. It's also very overpriced compared to the Gold Coast parks, and very basic. I'm still a little bit sad to see it go though as it has been the nearest thing Adelaide had to a theme park and I have lots of memories there.
  17. Thanks. I managed to find it at https://www.experienceoz.com.au/gold-coast/theme-parks/vip-magic-pass-with-australian-outback-spectacular-show-free/vip-magic-pass-plus-australian-outbac-spectacular
  18. Whilst I'm not really a fan of motor sports, I will admit that I do like the Peter Brock museum. I'm not crazy about it, and it is only mildly interesting to me, but I do like the concept.
  19. Can anyone tell me if the offer to buy a theme park pass and get a free ticket for Australian Outback Spectacular is still available please? If so, where would I find it?
  20. Now that's the sort of thing I'm looking for!
  21. I'm definitely not saying Scooby isn't a great ride, and I don't remember Gremlins so I don't know for sure if it was better overall than Scooby. My point was just that having actors as part of a ride adds a lot to it.
  22. Jeffrey I also find it fascinating to see remnants of old rides or buildings, although being relatively new to the Gold Coast I don't know enough about the history to really appreciate it all yet.
  23. I don't remember ever going on the Gremlins ride, although it's possible that I did on one occasion the very first time I went to Movie World. The staff participation (being actors rather than mere processors) is precisely what made Gremlins an even better experience than Scooby Doo. Likewise there were actors on Bermuda Triangle at Sea World and it was a vital part of the experience.
