  1. It's a free locker and it's just around the corner.
  2. I wasn't aware of that. Is it mentioned in the forum rules somewhere? I must have missed it. I'll have a read of it one day.
  3. I thought it might have referred to that, but like you I'm not sure which is why I'm asking!
  4. Great info! What do you mean though by the reservoir?
  5. I'd hate it for two reasons. 1. I'd no longer get access to Sea World with my Village membership card. I know it's nowhere near as good as it used to be but I still like to go occasionally if it doesn't cost me anything. 2. The SeaWorld company you refer to is the reason why Sea World Australia gets so many idiots going on about Dolphins and Whales shouldn't be kept in captivity blah blah blah. I don't know the details, but I think that SeaWorld maybe actually did something that might sort of justify those sort of complaints to some extent.
  6. But they are planning an expansion of the waterpark as it is, and in my hypothetical model they'd have loads of funds from the theme park sale so they could invest even more.
  7. Here's an idea to add to my earlier post about Dreamworld and Universal. I think I'd probably be right saying Universal Studios parks don't have animals in them. Dreamworld has a very large area dedicated to animals, and a lot of very experienced and passionate staff who care for the animals. There's also Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation which does a lot of very valuable work. They're actually very good at running that section. Just pretty hopeless at running the theme park! What if the park were split into two parts. The Coroberree section remained managed by Ardent and was essentially a wildlife park, whilst the rest would be gradually redeveloped into Universal Studios Gold Coast. Obviously the two parks would still be adjacent each other, and the two companies could offer visitors the option to get passes to both parks. There'd also need to be a new separate entry to the Wildlife Park ("Coroberree" would be as good a name as any), and the waterpark could either remain part of Universal Studios or part of Coroberree. If the waterpark was part of Coroberree that would make that section a much more compelling offer to visitors, and the remaining area of the theme park (Dreamworld minus Coroberree and Whitewater World) is perhaps not all that different to the size of Movie World or other Universal Studios parks.
  8. Am I reading that right? You say both had roughly 4 to 5 million visitors (which allowing for seasonal fluctuations is near enough the same).
  9. Considering that Dreamworld already has a good working relationship with Dreamworks, and that Dreamworks is now virtually part of Universal Studios, I'm a bit surprised if Ardent haven't been talking to them about a possible sale or partial sale. That way potentially Dreamworld could get some serious investment and ultimately become Universal Studios Australia. They could really go head to head with VRTP and we'd have two global theme park companies competing on an equal footing, rather than the poor little Ardent struggling to try to keep up with the mighty Village Roadshow! Ardent could potentially retain an interest too if both parties deem it favourable. Possibly Ardent could take responsibility for developing and managing new tourist facilities (hotels etc) adjacent to the park, with Universal taking over running the park itself. Seems like they've sort of already made a good start on rebranding at the main entrance! 😃
  10. I wouldn't necessarily blame her for that. It's certainly not the only organisation (I use that word extremely loosely) that employs people in senior positions but doesn't give them the resources and support they need to do the job! (I speak from recent first hand experience being in such a position with a company I won't name)!
  11. So she wrote procedures, but didn't write memos "because she was not very good with computers". What? 😕
  12. I would love it if there was a pre-show. In my opinion that is something that is sorely missing from all Gold Coast theme parks since Bermuda Triangle closed at Sea World (technically before that since they stopped the pre-show on that before they closed it completely.
  13. I hadn't thought of that possibility. Could be a new form of live entertainment. All they'd have to do is install a PA system throughout the park, and hire a DJ to monitor the progress of the teams via CCTV and radio, and broadcast a running commentary over the P.A. system. A fun way to ensure that guests know how serious they are about safety, whilst also having a bit of fun! They could jazz it up a bit by having funny forfeits for the losing maintenance team! Sometimes, you just gotta give up!
  14. If I was in charge of Dreamworld I'd only employ one maintenance team. In my opinion, one's enough for any theme park.
  15. I agree. The last few times I've been there the park had a fantastic happy atmosphere. Much more so than Movie World in my opinion. I couldn't have cared less about some thrill rides being down. I found more than enough things to enjoy.
  16. There's other major tourist sites as well as the theme parks? Wow!
  17. Well, you probably will get to be one of the first to experience the new Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster, and of course DC Rivals is still fairly new and there are other great experiences to be had that are not as new but still great!
