New Water Attraction For Dreamworld...
Adam replied to OzCoasterFreek's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They look pretty lame. Why add a water attraction when they're building a water park? Who wants to get wet in a theme park when they can do it all day long (starting December 2006)... -
"Thrill Photographer". "Royal Show Photographer". "I'll take your photo for free but charge you heaps to retrieve it later-grapher".
-
That's cool. I didn't know you could get turntables in RCT3. I must try it out (someday soon).
-
King Kong is still at Universal Studios Hollywood. They have the old one (on the Studio Tour) and they've also added a new one to reflect Peter Jackon's version of the creature. The new one is outside and you can get your photo taken with it (the staff will even take it for free if you've got your own camera).

Well our cameras were in the locker for most of the day due to Superman's no item policy. I don't think anyone took photos of the group except Ian.

Nice idea Gazza. It's simple and wouldn't require too much work on their behalf (if there is a building avaliable for it). Does anyone know where an S&S Shot Tower would fit? I think most people are leaning towards the newly developed Superman ESCAPE area. Maybe an outdoor-style queue like The Claw. Thoughts?

I had a great day too. Was good to have a break from study and meet some fellow members at the same time. Superman ESCAPE is a fantastic ride. The front row is amazing. Totally exceeded my expectations in terms of themeing too (earthquake and steam effects are uber).

Ok. Well I'm all sorted now. I shall see my fellow enthusiasts at the happiest place in Australia on Saturday morning.

I think Dreamworld has shown Australia that the best way to draw large crowds isn't by having a well-maintained park with quality attractions. It's by placing, at random, a combination of poorly themed thrill rides. Movie World should follow suit.

Hahaha. Just message Richard and he'll tell you where he's standing or what he's wearing.

I'm sure it's pretty obvious but I'd go for MACK too. They're an innovative company with so much potential. I've been on a couple of their Wild Mouse coasters - both having themed vehicles - and one of their water coasters. They're always bringing out new products and new ways of delivering totally immersive story experiences.
-
I've also heard about the rumor going around the staff at Movie World about a shot tower. I'd much prefer a Twilight Zone Tower of Terror-style ride.

Cool, make sure you keep us updated. Great to see a new member from Movie World on the boards; be sure to read the forum's Community Guidelines when you've got the time.

As has been mentioned previously - it's the principle and inconvenience.

Universal Studios Hollywood allows you to leave your belongings in a locker for the time of your choice - the first hour being free. The system works fine. It's not the inital one dollar fee that stops people leaving their belongings in the locker all day. It is the unlocking fee that stops people doing this. It has absolutely nothing to do with the inital $1. The dollar isn't required. You are also forgetting the very reason people take their stuff to theme parks - so they can use it. If you're suggesting that people will come back every hour and move their belongings to another locker then I think that's rediculous. The majority of people will just chuck their stuff in a locker, ride the ride, then collect it on the way out. I think making the first hour free would encourage more people to remove their belongings after each ride (instead of keeping it in their for a couple of rides). In the current situation people will most likely try and get their "full money's worth" out of the locker and keep it in their for a full hour. If it works for large-scale international parks then surely it'd work for Movie World.

I received this in a recent communication from Movie World. After drilling them several times about the situation they have basically said they charge for lockers so people don't leave their belogings in them all day. As anyone with a brain will know - this makes no sense whatsoever. There is no reason why they can't offer the first hour for free.
-
Does anyone (who's coming) have any vouchers that offer a discount for a one-day admission or annual pass? I'm sure I'll be able to find something before the 18th but if anyone's got something it'd be greatly appreciated.

Would DW and DW Water Park operate independently?
Adam replied to clone_tk422's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The park's press release (from Macquarie Leisure) states that: I do believe both parks, to a certain extent, will operate independently in terms of fund allocation. The waterpark isn't being built by Dreamworld, it's being built by Macquarie Leisure. The waterpark will be on the same "level" as Dreamworld - not below. When it comes to adding new attractions, Warner Village seem to add new attractions at the same time (i.e. Shrek 4D and Buccaneer Bay). Not sure how Dreamworld will do this. I doubt we'd see anything major at Dreamworld until the waterpark is built though. -
Try using Streamload MediaMax to upload the file. It's free.

Work commences on the Dreamworld Water Park
Adam replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Here is some more info about the waterpark: -
I agree Neb. My computer goes insanely slow when building a huge park. The software doesn't automatically scale back the graphics when the performance drops radically during game play.

The webchat is producing a server related error, so your PC is fine.

Hahaha. Nice one. smooth adj. - characterized by violent motion; turbulent.

I totally agree with that. Many of Dreamworld’s rides are so poorly themed that they would look a lot nicer if the themeing was removed. It’s all in presentation – no themeing is better than crap themeing. And let’s face it; most of Dreamworld’s themeing is lacking. They went to some effort to “theme” (I wouldn’t call the end product a ‘themed’ ride) the Cyclone. Why? It’s a mess. Don't get me wrong, I love good themeing. Disneyland has to be the best amusement/theme/fun park in the world for this very reason. I do like the way Dreamworld themed The Claw, I’d say it’s one of their best themed rides.
