The Big Red Car Ride at Dreamworld is indeed an interesting ride... The technology that powers the cars and all show elements was developed from the ground up in New Zealand by a company known as Simtech Innovations. (Below is some more information about the systems that Simtech use on their dark rides). Navigation As has been previously mentioned in this thread, the vehicles that take passengers through the ride are directed by a concealed wire in the ground – there are no tracks. This means ‘dead end paths’ and ‘track cross-overs’ etc. are now possible. Simtech have also managed to refine this technology to the point that a total of four integrated track paths are possible! The cars can also be programmed to take different paths depending on whether the riders have reached a certain score (if it’s an interactive shooting ride, for example). Control System When the ride is in operation the cars communicate wirelessly with a central control system where they are monitored continuously in real-time. The system uses a blend of onboard programming and signals from the control system to deliver outcomes (e.g. rotation of the car, speed, etc.). The same system that controls the vehicles is also used to control all show elements (e.g. lighting effects, animatronics, interactive targets etc.). Advanced safety systems also allow the entire ride and all vehicles to be stopped and started easily from one central location. Onboard Special Effects The vehicles also feature a range of special effects such as independent turret rotation, 'motion platform' (the platform that the seats are attached to can move using pneumatics, much like a simulator does), passenger-scene interactivity, vehicle to vehicle interactivity, real time individual score tallying, multiple ride endings, synchronization with motion movie sequences, opportunity vehicle battery charging, and an event synchronized on board sound system! Themeing Also, if you liked the themeing on the Big Red Car Ride then it probably wouldn’t surprise you to hear that this company designed many props and animatronics for the Lord of the Rings. With it's range of innovative features and capabilities, Simtech have been recognized worldwide for their excellent work on the 'Nomad DRV 5' (Simtech's name for the ride vehicles)! Good on them...

It was average. It was supposedly the first computer-animated 3D movie and it certainly showed its age. Shrek will be heaps better!

It's a very interesting story you present but somehow I think it was probably just a series of coincidences. At the end of the day, the only thing you got right was that they were building a Batman ride (just like people guessed Superman. I mean, when Village Roadshow brings out a new film and there hasn't been any park updates for a while, it's not hard to put two and two together). It might seem like all the ideas for the ride were taken from you, but I highly doubt it... I'm sure the Wayne Manor Facade was the same as the one in the movie - the same place that your design was most likely based off which means they're bound to have similartieis. Again, since the ride was based off the movie it's certainly not unusual for them to take sets and props from the movie and use them for the ride. Anyway, I think Movie World would have told you if they had taken ideas from you. I mean, why would they have reason to deny it? You obviously presented the ideas freely and were more than happy for them to use them. But if you really do think you were the person who got Movie World to install a Batman ride, then I'd love for you to get us a new studio/behind the scenes tour. And would it kill you to do something with the Maveric show building?

Places everyone! Curtain about to rise on Hong Kong Disneyland Resort! From the photos I've seen the park is looking really good. Hopefully they'll have something on TV about the opening.

Wiggles World is now open! Congrats to Dreamworld on this fantastic new attraction!

I was also wondering whether they would re-brand the Roxy Theatre or not. Is Shrek an adventure ride or a movie? Marvin the Martian was marketed as being a "3D movie" (and we all know that movies are played in 'theatres') whereas Shrek is being marketed as an "adventure" as opposed to a film or movie (and adventures don't take place in 'theatres'). But they'll probably leave it as the Roxy (keeps with the classic and lovable main street themeing).

I agree Gazza... someone isn't a true coaster fan!

I'm pretty sure it's to stop the train if it "rolls back" (i.e. doesn't clear the top hat).
-
No they won't, they'll be running riot in Wiggles World. It'll actually decrease the number of little kids around other areas of the park.

Wiggles World opens to the public on Saturday the 10th of September 2005! You can still make it magpie.

Movie World is a fantastic park with heaps to offer - you'll certainly get your monies worth out of an annual pass! I suppose the choice of park depends on what you're into, each park offers slightly different things… Why not get a Movie World pass and then when it expires head over to Dreamworld for a year?

For more information, see this article. It's good to see they're still making money! Shrek will certainly help to boost attendance.

According to Ian's description (above), there is more to the layout. The elements in bold haven't been added to Matt's RCT3 version. I think it means an overbank that is indoors.

I wouldn't stop it at all, I'm with Shrek all the way. Mike Myers is an awesome actor who has done heaps for Warner Bros. in the past (e.g. Austin Powers) and his role in Shrek 4D, I have been told, is fantastic. I still can't believe people are getting so caught up in who owns what.

Fixed for me too. Thanks.

What Is Your Favourite Ride/s @ Movie World
Adam replied to lil' monster's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think he's talking about Superman Escape - it has been rumored that the ride will have some very impressive themeing. -
Paul... how is Richard going to correct the problem unless you tell him where the ads are? Most of the ads are gone for me except I can still see ads on the database page.

I agree, Dreamworld's website is so much better than Movie World's site. It's not even worth visiting Movie World's site to find information on new attractions - that type of information doesn't seem to exist. I'm sure many people who watch these Shrek ads on tv would visit Movie World's site in hope that they could find more information (as the website is usually listed at the end of all Movie World ads). It's great however, to see some big changes to the park. As Gazza has said, the park has been rather quiet recently due to a lack of new attractions. I'm not surprised though - once you've been to a park and done all the rides, there's no point in going back unless there is something new and exciting. There's nothing like riding a ride for the first time. Movie World have said that Shrek will open mid-September (which is when the school holidays start).
