  1. Yeah I gotta agree with joz and S.Willie here. I do think that this is the greatest time to be a theme park fan, both locally and internationally. While there have been things taken away, and a lot of stuff we are still waiting for, we have to expect that great things are to come in the next year or so from our local parks. I understand coaster overload. I much prefer theme over thrills myself, but from what I see MW are keen on giving us both. While I would prefer a dark ride, I'm still loving the current developments! Bring on Green Lantern!!
  2. Fair enough! I would have liked the third phase to have been profit, but I can't argue with a press release.
  3. DreamWorks and Dreamworld is official! http://clients.weblink.com.au/clients/pfl/article.asp?asx=AAD&view=2656300 The alliance "will be launched in three phases" Phase 1: DreamWorks “Holiday Shrektacular Show” this summer holidays Phase 2: a new themed precinct featuring the all new DreamWorks Experience Phase 3: ..... Profit??
  4. Yeah I agree that Legoland and Dreamworld are completely different. I have only been to one Legoland, but it was vastly different in the quality and types of rides, shows and experiences to Dreamworld. They are aiming at different demographics and organised differently. I don't think Merlin could buy Dreamworld add Lego and it would be a Legoland. I imagine it would have to be a major restructure of the park. Even Cypress Gardens had to have a fairly major refit to become Legoland Florida.
  5. GM comments that Skeetafly was posting about for those of us that are a bit behind: http://clients.weblink.com.au/news/pdf2%5C01233571.pdf
  6. That is fantastic news about LW! Smooth trains would be amazing! It hurt like anything last time I rode it. Even though the chinatown theming is great, I don't think LW really fits with Movie World anymore. I'm excited by the possiblity of a retheme!! Also, I like when people know things I don't. MickeyD says total retheme and characters plural. Awesome!
  7. Fair point Gazza about Castaway Bay. I'm not a fan of it personally, but it is still a decent attempt at a new family attraction! I'll pay that. I am just worried by the recent closures at MW. Again, I hope they prove me wrong. I guess I support AW spending money on family rides, even if it is only because they can't afford anything better. Let's hope so!!
  8. I agree! It's a great family ride, and a great choice since the other major parks appear to be getting out of the family ride business (prove me wrong, Movie World). It will be fascinating to see if they add any major theming to this ride, as that can make a big difference on a flume ride. The concept art looks like it might. Wait and see! I agree it is doubtful they would get a major ride, but you never know. They seem to have more real estate to expand into. If further coast development brings more money to the park, then why not!
  9. For those interested, I popped by on the weekend and took a couple of ordinary photos. They are up on my blog: http://themeparknut.blogspot.com/2011/09/aussie-world.html Looking down from the Ferris wheel, it looked like loading on the left hand side, go straight up the small lift hill, loop down and around to the bigger lift hill, and then down to complete the figure 8 and the loading station. It's hard to be certain though, because not much apart from the track you can see is complete. It is definitely vertical though!!!
