Dreamworld - 2017 "exciting" "experiences"
liz.wis replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Do Dreamworld have a typical schedule for releasing the Season Passes on sale? I know they were around $70 for adults during the ABC Kids promotion (I think?), but they've gone back up to $99 again. Which, yes I know is great value, but why not save $90 if I can - we need 4. -
Curious Adelaide: What Happened to Dazzleland?

It looks quite a bit like Tops. -
It makes the park look a bit much like shed world.

Are coaster enthusiasts being frowned upon?
liz.wis replied to Coaster Hipster's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm just a low-grade enthusiast. I love the parks, and the rides, and by just hanging around here, feel like I'm slightly more in-the-know , but I don't really care for the technical specifications at all. There's other interest groups I'd spend similar amounts of time looking at, relating to beauty, or renovations, or music, etc. -
I think the new logo looks great, good choice.

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017

Are they planning on removing Blue Lagoon and Mine Ride while they're at it? -
Wow, my 6 turns on the old Sea World Pirate Ship, and 8 consecutive turns on Batman Adventure: The Ride are sounding pretty lame now.

Effect or Audio Errors on Rides
liz.wis replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Best/worst one I've witnessed was when Looney Tunes River Ride was in its first year, and the waterfall didn't stop, and the whole boat of people got drenched. -
This wasn't directed at me, but I'll throw in my 2c. I also only went once to Dreamworld as a kid, also in 1988. I didn't go back again until my late teens/early 20s. It had that 'magical' feeling, because back then it was only a once-or-twice in a childhood place to go typically. We started buying annual passes when my kids were pre-school/toddler age, and they spent a couple of years going every few weeks. To them, it was the equivalent of a slightly-more-fun-than-usual playground.

"Kyle & Jackie O's Haunted House" - that sounds terrifying.

I got to experience this on original ToT as well.

My exhausted brain just misinterpreted the sign as "Just Ice for Captives".

My 8-year-old was watching H20: Just Add Water on Netflix, and the particular episode featured quite a bit of Sea World - she called me in to show me "how cool Sea World used to be". This particular scene was showing Bermuda Triangle in operation (just externally at the final drop).

I once threatened to make my 7-year-old ride the Big Red Car ride as punishment, does that count?

I love the ride experience of Wipeout, and The Claw makes me nauseous, but I think it's the most thrilling of the flat rides I've been on. I haven't ridden either Doomsday or Surfrider. I'm going to give my vote to Wipeout.

While I think Dreamworld would have some impact on attendance, I don't think it's the sole contributor. We currently don't have tickets mostly due to there being limited options that our whole family would enjoy - the kids are past kiddie rides, but not tall enough for most of the big coasters and thrill rides. Also, just general cost of living has made annual tickets something of a luxury - and while I agree they're great value, it's not really a priority of spending right now. ETA: I kind of skipped the main point - yes I think the media is not helping.

Motocoaster vs. Jet Rescue: What's better & Who's right?
liz.wis replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't hate MDMC, as I think it's a fun family ride (NOT thrill ride), but still prefer Jet Rescue by a long shot.- 43 replies

Where on the coast is this?

Had I not had commitments at home, I would have headed down to SW last night specifically to see The Griswolds, as their previous album is one of my favourites (I'm a bit 'meh' about their latest, though). I haven't seen them live, but very disappointing to hear that it was a bit lacklustre.

Themed Areas you'd like to see in our Parks?
liz.wis replied to ThemeTendo's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think there are themes that could be done better than they are - I'd love to see the Wild West area expanded at Movie World with a few more related rides. While we're at MW, a whole overhaul of the kids' area would be great - while I like the Looney Tunes theme, I'd like to see a couple of more family/older children rides - even my 4-year-old was not overly impressed with the train ride and Tweety cages. I still love the idea floated about Sea World having a seaside pier theme, that would be amazing. There's now plenty of opportunities to extend the Australiana area of Dreamworld. While I don't hate MDMC as much as others, it really is in a bad location. -
I went to this one - I actually filmed it, but have no idea what happened to my parents' old recorder - it would have filmed on tape, and playback was by plugging the recorder into the TV, I'm not sure if there's a way to get that footage back. I definitely remember the helicopter. I'm almost positive Bermuda was operating at this time, as I know I went on it when it was in its first year, and I don't remember going back to Sea World for many years later again.

I didn't do much this year either: - Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster - Storm Coaster - Jet Rescue I didn't get to the parks without kids in tow.
