  1. Wondering if this is the same as the Doomsday proposal we reviewed a while back? It'd surely be strange to name another thing Doomsday, when it's not the most known villain. ETA: As in, to create a whole new concept around the idea of Doomsday.
  2. I heard on the radio this morning that there would be an announcement today about the new project at Movie World. Came here to check, clearly no news yet.
  3. I remember going on a school excursion to Koala Town. Didn't they film the early 90s remake Skippy there?
  4. Scooby was definitely a worthy replacement for Gremlins, but Gremlins was still way more immersive than most additions of late. I'd say I preferred the experience of Gremlins far more than, for example, Justice League.
  5. 95% of my theme park trips are with my kids (4 and 7), so going by that, I would pick Dreamworld and WWW. Sea World would be a close second. Having spent most of their lives going to all the parks, they're a bit over the kids rides at MW, but not tall enough for any of the coasters, and won't be for some time. Scooby is fine, but usually has an excessive wait line. We love seeing the seals and dolphins at SW, but they're definitely lacking a few rides to keep us coming back frequently. The new kids area is an improvement on what they had, but seriously lacking in shade on hot summer days. DW has the best selection of rides in the Dreamworks area, for kids that are past Wiggle World, but not yet up for Tower of Terror or Buzz-Saw, plus there's the log ride and rapids, or having a look at the wild life. It's also a bit more spread out. I like the kids play area in WWW better than in WnW, as there's better visibility all the way around, there's too many exits at WnW that they can wander out. I don't think I've ever been to WnW without it being hugely crowded with long waits, it just didn't seem as bad at WWW (though admittedly I haven't spent that much time there). To be fair on MW, it does have the best coasters IMO.
  6. I'll have to wait for whichever one comes out on Mac.
  7. I'd recommend getting there at opening, we went on new years day for a couple of hours, and got on a few rides fairly quickly - Superman, Batwing, Wild West. Didn't bother with Scooby, as the queue was too long. Green Lantern was about 15 minutes. Justice League was only 5-10 minutes. Didn't see the kids area or Arkham.
  8. Apparently the break down today made the news?
  9. Weren't you flogging a pop website, and wouldn't that be better for this type of thread? At the very least the general chat thread would be adequate.
  10. I went to Sea World today, the chairlift posts certainly stand out a bit more than they do at Dreamworld. In the new kids area, the little Sponge Bob 'coaster' was closed for maintenance - is this fairly early for something that only just opened? No great loss, as it's a bit dodgy, even for a kids ride IMO. Slightly OT, but I went on Storm Coaster for the first time today, I really enjoyed it. Line was only about 10 minutes. It was a bit shorter than I expected, but the final drop was fun, and I got absolutely soaked, and again got quite wet on the internal part. I thought it was quite a good fit for the park.
  11. I think "this is Dreamworld" is becoming irrelevant now, as I consider they've really picked up their game on park maintenance. Sure, there could be some improvements, but they're definitely taking steps in the right direction.
  12. I've never actually been on / seen a wooden coaster - would noise be an issue for nearby residents in that wild west area?
  13. The rumour is certainly getting out there, I've seen a number of crappy news sources post about it on Facebook.
  14. I've had a last minute birthday request for a plush wonder woman doll. Can anyone recall seeing them in any of the retailers in MW? I'm after more of a cutesy kids one, towards this http://www.amightygirl.com/wonder-woman-plushie. Need it within the week, so can't order from OS.
  15. Took the family down to Sea World yesterday to check it out. 7 year old daughter loved the theming (particularly Sponge Bob parts). She surprisingly liked the mini coaster thing. Not-quite-4 year old daughter thought the mini coaster was 'boring'. I can't say I blame her Both liked the spinning sub-marine (I didn't go go it, but my husband thought it much better than the Big Red Boat). Neither were interested in the banana-plane things. Everyone enjoyed the Ninja Turtle flying pedal bikes. Both adults would have liked just a little more resistance on the pedals. I loved the 'pizza toppings' herb garden around it. A HUGE gripe with the area was the lack of shade over the ride queues. They seemed to have the big shade sails over the rides themselves, but you had to stand and wait to get on in full sun. Being the first really warm weekend, I'd hate to think how hot it'll get in queue in a few more weeks.
  16. Great, that definitely adds more appeal to my older daughter.
  17. Yes, fair point. There's basically no theming in the pre-show room.
  18. Can you control the spin on the 'teacups' like at Wiggles World, or do they spin at a set speed?
  19. I saw the new Looney Tunes 4D movie yesterday, and the whole family loved it, I think it's the best fit for the theatre they've had for many years.
  20. Because everyone thinks he's the worst Ninja Turtle - it's sympathy naming.
  21. I was down the coast yesterday, so popped into SW at around 3pm, it was definitely not open, and didn't look like it would be happening in the next few days. Kids were told before getting there it wasn't likely to be happening, they got over it. Fairly quiet crowd for the first weekend of the school holidays, the kids had a few rides on Vikings Revenge, and the rest of the time we just looked at animal exhibits. It was the first visit in a few years that one of the polar bears was doing something other than sleeping when we were looking in, so that was cool.
  22. I tend to go to Sea World for the sea animals more than the rides. I think a few well-themed flats (bring back the pirate ship!) would be good for breaking up the day.
  23. "Dismaland" art-amusement park installation by Banksy. A bit creepy! http://www.buzzfeed.com/alisoncaporimo/creepy-creepy#.nsX91d3gV
