Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition

Is Village Bean a franchise, or just a one off for Movieworld? -
I didn't realise that! Oh well, I'll know for next time. The kids have been a bit young to take to the night time events, probably still not keen on it for another year.
-
I didn't have the option of renewing, as we swap between these and Dreamworld every 18 months, but we went with the Buy 3 get 1 free deal, so I'm more than happy to pay $300 for the family for the year.

2015 in Dreamworld - ABC Kids World, V8 Supercars and more
liz.wis replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've got a child in the Wiggles target age group, so I have been on it numerous times. I find the audio/movement regularly seems to be out of sync, and the moving props really dated and uninspiring. For the amount of money the Wiggles brand is worth, I just find the whole experience really underwhelming. The concept of it is excellent, it's the execution I have the problem with. -

Wow, that'll make for some happy kids. I really hope the Giggle and Hoot ride replaces the old Big Red Car ride, which is embarrassingly bad IMO. -
It's the height restriction reason that I haven't yet been to Aussie World - I have a 3 year old (just over 100cm), and a 6 year old (120cm), and they're both keen for faster rides, but looking at the website, they'd mostly be restricted to what my elder child would call 'baby rides'.

- I have vague memories being 4 or 5 years old, and going to an attraction at Sea World featuring a play ground with a big ball pit. (late 80s) - The following year I went to Dreamworld, and remember going on Thunder River Rapids and the Log Ride. I made my Dad ride the Thunderbolt (late 80s). - Riding Splash Mountain at Disneyland (1990). The thing I remember most clearly from that trip though was Kingdom of the Dinosaurs at Knotts Berry Farm. I thought it was absolutely magical. - Going to Movie World before it was opened to the public (my dad had a media pass). So 1991? Loved the Looney Tunes Ride, and those carrots that had the computer screens in them. High tech back then! lol I was too scared for Gremlins on that visit. - Going to Sea World again when Bermuda Triangle was fairly new. It was over the summer, and there was a night time laser show with (I think?) a helicopter or similar. Riding on the Pirate Ship 3 times without getting off. I considered it my first 'thrill ride'. (Though in hindsight, not overly thrilling). - I won tickets to Movie World when I was about 13, and brought along my best friend. It was the first time we were allowed loose in a theme park without adults, and we rode the original Batman ride 6 times in a row. I'm a sucker for theming, again, when the ride attendant pulled out the book to make the wall open - magic! Movie World again in my last year of high school as part of a school excursion - one of my friends looked for all the ride security cameras and gave them the finger. A few ride attendants pulled us up on it throughout the day. Still too scared for Lethan Weapon (but did make it onto Gremlins that time). - Dreamworld, in my early 20s, with my now husband. First time I did any of the thrill rides, and first time on a roller coaster (it was the small window where Cyclone, Thunderbolt and the Mine Ride were open). - Movieworld, 2011 - My 3 year old asking to go on all the 'big kid' rides she could get on - she went on Wild West Falls and the Road Runner coaster. Definitely got into rides much younger than me!

Somewhat sensationalist story on 97.3fm Facebook Page http://www.973fm.com.au/entertainment/the-feed/seven-stuck-on-movieworld-ride/ They shared a tweet about a "ride collapse".

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
liz.wis replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I only went on the ride once, just before it closed, and don't recall much, other than it was very rough. There's no nostalgia factor for me with this one, but I think it would be great if this all goes ahead. -
I was thinking of taking my 6 year old to Aussie World over the holidays, but the height restrictions have made me a little reluctant. She'd be more interested in the 'thrill rides' than the kiddie ones, and most of them have a height limit of 130cm, of which she is way off. She was just shy of getting on the 120cm rides last month at Dreamworld.

Disneyland's Diamond Jubilee Celebration - 60 years of magic
liz.wis replied to DisneyDoll's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That post makes me feel incredibly old. I went to the '35th Year' celebrations. In answer to your question, no, it's not feasible for us to go to Disneyland this year, but likely we might go in it's 65th year. -
Press Release Sea World Announces Biggest Summer Ever
liz.wis replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It's a press release, they have to call it something. I don't think 'most mediocre new Summer attraction' would get many readers -
New dolphin show on the way for Seaworld
liz.wis replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The sea-lion show is dreadful, if it's still that detective one? -
The ratings were apparently abysmal, even for the final, I wouldn't know, as I didn't watch it past the first night.

2015 in Dreamworld - ABC Kids World, V8 Supercars and more
liz.wis replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
My 6 year old liked the Wiggles from about 18 months old, til about 3. My 3 year old has liked them the past year, but has stopped asking to watch the DVDs in the last couple of months. She still requests going on the Big Red Car ride each Dreamworld visit, I'm hoping she'll be over it soon. So they're still very popular for their target market, but only for a fairly limited time in my experience. Although I do use the Big Red Car ride as a threat to the 6 year old "Behave yourself, or we'll make you go on the Big Red Car ride", it's very effective. -
Action Park New Jersey- The Most Insane Theme Park Ever?

Thanks for sharing! Seriously I don't know how that place stayed open so long, but it looks ridiculously fun. -

I'd rather them not do too much next year, and open a big attraction 'Big 10 Ride' the year after. I'd be happy if they continued the minor maintenance work that they've done this year that's overall improved the appearance of the place. -

By Buzzed, so rubbish, but may be of interest here http://www.buzzfeed.com/laureningram/the-definitive-rating-of-australias-theme-parks-a-gvdh My biggest issue would be White Water World above Sea World.

Quick question about Jet Rescue at Sea World - on the SW website it says the height limit is 125cm. Is this new? I could have sworn it was 110cm about 2 years ago. I remember my daughter, who was around 5 at the time, thought about going on it, got about half way through the line, and changed her mind, and didn't go on, even though we thought she was tall enough at the time. She's 119cm now, and frustrated with not being able to go on what she wants at DW. We were thinking of changing back over to SW/MW/WW passes next year for a change. Also, current offer on VIP locals passes - buy 3, get 1 free, current expiry date of June next year, ends next week. Do they usually immediately follow this up with one that will expire end of December next year?

I'm on the Brisbane northside, and not going to consider trying to cross the river that weekend.
