  1. Saw the promo on AW's page with the hooded figure - I KNEW the random hooded person in the time lapse video from a while back was more than a coincidence! Who would've thought Adventure World of all parks would put a subtle bit of viral marketing in (well, it would be viral marketing if enough people had seen it). Did anyone on here from Perth see the "news story"? Don't think the site has many Perth members, unfortunately, so the rest of us may have to wait.
  2. I didn't get my hopes up about the announcement because I know the media is totally freaking useless about this kind of thing. 100m drop looool. I think they just used video of Saw because its similar enough.
  3. Shame it's not a wooden coaster. And even if it were, there are still 5 true wooden coasters that are taller than it.
  4. Yeah I noticed that wouldn't work Gazza. Which means we'll still be getting an awesome custom outdoor section with a recycled version of Saw's awesome, and surprisingly intense, indoor section. I'm planning to head to Perth this Summer holidays once the coaster is open. Perth's a city I've considered visiting for quite some time and this has just given me more motivation to go.
  5. That's possibly the best thing I have ever seen.
  6. Yeah that's really quite disturbing to read.
  7. This is a real tragedy but we can't yet confirm what truly happened. The restraint coming undone report is just a rumor at this stage, and restraints coming undone during rides is extremely rare and unlikely. Chances are her lapbar wasn't pulled down enough, leaving enough room for her to be ejected from the ride due to the powerful airtime of the ride. Very scary, worrying incident though. I feel for the deceased's family and friends, as well as the park and ride operators and anyone who was unlucky enough to witness the event. Today isn't a good day for theme parks though - a separate incident occurred at Cedar Point where a Shoot the Chutes ride fell backwards on the lifthill into the water, flipping upside down and leaving riders trapped underwater by the boat's lapbars. Luckily people managed to save the riders before this scary incident became a full blown tragedy. UPDATE: A new report claims that the woman was quite large and felt unsafe since her lapbar only went down one "click". However, the ride ops claimed this was fine and let her go. The part that makes no sense here is that Texas Giant has hydraulic lapbars which don't "click" at all. The restraint system has a light that lights up when the lapbar is just low enough, signaling that it's safe to go. It seems the woman's restraint only just made the minimum, which means that with the strong airtime it may have been pulled upwards a fraction, allowing it to come completely undone.
  8. Cool TR, I've visited the Dubai Sega park and I notice a lot of similar rides. The Wild Wing in Dubai thankfully has a good English dub (actually, it only plays in English) but I'd love to hear the crappy Japanese dub. The Dubai version also has a Gerstlauer spinner but it neither launches nor inverts.
  9. He was making a joke because you said "quiet good" instead of "quite good". I feel bad for having to explain that.
  10. Actually, is it just me or is the layout of the indoor section practically identical to Saw the Ride? It could be possible that this new ride could be a clone? Perhaps Adventure World couldn't quite afford a fully customised layout so they opted for a pre-existing one other than the standard model? If that's so, I'm still very excited because I found Saw the Ride to be an extremely enjoyable, intense ride. A bit rough though, but if this coaster has Gerstlauer's new lapbar cars it'll be great. Anyway, here's the comparison. From different perspectives, but note the similarity - drop, turn into brakerun, swooping drop into inline twist. Adventure World's Eurofighter Saw The Ride
  11. As we've stated that's just the indoor prelift section of the coaster often seen on Gerstlauer's coasters including Saw the Ride, Takabisha and Karacho. There will be a much larger outdoor section.
  12. Awesome! Really excited to finally see it confirmed in pictures that Perth is getting a custom eurofighter!
  13. Isn't it funny how Adventure World posted 3 photos of dirt every few days when construction was starting but now that actual vertical construction is happening they haven't posted in close to two weeks.
  14. Numerous reports from people who have seen track go down on Adventure World's Facebook page.
  15. Definitely too big to just be a station, I agree that there will probably be a small enclosed section, probably just a heartline roll like on Saw, Takabisha, Smiler and Karacho.
  16. I imagine Orphan Rocker actually would be quite thrilling in the way that you'd feel it was about to crumble at any given moment. Dat track transition. Seriously, what is going on there? I'd be extremely surprised if the ride passed modern safety standards without a recieving complete overhaul first, as Jobe suggested.
  17. I'll back down as I am clearly not as informed and what I've used to back my opinion is probably just coincidence.
  18. Sure, I'd mostly mention kids my age. But I've spoken to a fair few parents who have younger children and so far I've got the picture that SeaWorld is more of a "once off" kind of park while they visit Dreamworld regularly. Dreamworld may seem a bit run down to us, but most people do enjoy it for the huge range of attractions it has. I may be wrong, I'd have to see the visitor numbers for both parks to know. But as far as I know, SeaWorld is less than popular. Also, even if SeaWorld was one of the best parks in the world, $85 admission is a joke.
  19. Opening within a decade isn't news so much as vague, wishful plans. To be honest I don't care whether or not Oprhan Rocker ever opens. The trackwork looks terrible and I imagine it'd be rough and slow to ride.
  20. From everyone I've spoken to, SeaWorld is by far the least popular Gold Coast theme park, and the one that is the worst value for money ($85 is hugely overpriced for Movieworld, but for Seaworld it's just ridiculous). I doubt the addition of Storm will change that perception, so I doubt Dreamworld will be losing much sleep over it.
  21. If I'm not mistaken, the standard Mack Watercoaster is only 28m tall. Therefore it's the same height as Sea Viper, so it should fall within the original restrictions?
  22. I just realized how behind this thread actually is, so here's just a few videos of new coasters that have opened this year for anyone who hasn't seen them yet. Iron Rattler at Six Flags Over Texas - Rocky Mountain Steel Hybrid Coaster (refurbishment of old RCCA woodie "The Rattler"). Gatekeeper at Cedar Point - B&M Wingrider. Smiler at Alton Towers - Gerstlauer Looping Coaster with 14 inversions. Storm at Etnaland - Mack Rides Mega Coaster. Eldorado at Etnaland - S&S Family Coaster. Rattenmühle at Familypark Neudiedlersee Burgenland - Gerstlauer Bobsled Coaster. Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City - Rocky Mountain Looping Wooden Coaster. Hades 360 at Mt Olympus Theme Park - Gravity Group Looping Wooden Coaster (refurbishment of "Hades", layout modified to include a corkscrew inversion). Gold Striker at California's Great America - Great Coasters International Wooden Coaster. White Lightning at Fun Spot USA - Great Coasters International Wooden Coaster.
  23. It'd be nice if Adventure World would refrain from posting "construction updates" until something of actual interest happens because they currently have 25 photos of concrete and dirt.
  24. The first photo is actually not of track from Adventure World's eurofighter in the factory but an old photo of another eurofighter (I believe Takabisha), but they're just hinting at it being a Eurofighter.
  25. Looks like I'm blocked from posting/commenting on Adventure World Perth's page, just for posting the photos from the Gerstlauer factory (which may or may not be relevant anyway). Fair enough though. I guess parks don't exactly appreciate enthusiasts ruining the secrecy behind their new rides. Wait, those photos have just been removed from this thread and the original post on the German forum disappeared. Do Adventure World control the internet or something? Haha
