  1. Would that warrant a permanent sign though? It just seems a bit odd to me..
  2. I'm just wondering, does anyone know why the SDSC closes early (3:30pm) now?
  3. You know, I'd love to see the following happen at Dreamworld: - Replace Eureka - Build a B&M coaster - Move the vintage cars - Remove/move/change the Motocoaster in any way
  4. I'm not sure if I'm hearing the right effect, but it sounds like something attempting to sound like an object moving at high speeds. I don't know if I've ever heard it while on the ride, so it may be yet another effect turned off.
  5. I think they need a bit more around the parks there. They have heaps of room so they could probably make something pretty good. I'd love to see something like this there.
  6. ^ They already sell annual passes which last a year from the purchase date. They probably get more money selling VIP passes like they do than they would selling them like you suggested with your suggested prices. Whilst you may buy passes which cost that much, I doubt many other people would, even if they covered extra charges etc.
  7. Game engines (mainly Unity) are actually quite commonly used to create animations like this. However, that's mainly when you want some sort of interactive component. So it'll most likely be some kind of complex animation software.
  8. Doe anyone think that with Pirates of the Caribbean being filmed at the Village Roadshow studios, there might be more interest in a studio tour or exhibition of some sort of the sets?
  9. I'd say that the first shot was taken near to where the entrance to Dinosaur Island was looking just to the east of the main entrance.
  10. It certainly doesn't sound like a bad idea. Will it just be replacing the indoor section of Dinosaur island or will it also replace the outdoor portion too?
  11. What are the actual procedures and safety requirements involved in loading and offloading a vehicle. Because I'd be almost certain that they'd be more stringent here than in the US, which would lead to longer load and offload times.
  12. By the fact that it looks like they've built a road there, it's probably going to be a while before we see anything happen with the site.
  13. Still about 0.33 times more expensive to build here than in England. (this is all based purely off minimum wage)
  14. But it costs at least twice as much to build something in Australia than in America.
  15. But how do you determine the quality of the ride? Is a quality ride one with lots of movement, or is it one with lots of themeing?
  16. For anyone who's ridden on it, do they teach (and to some extent try to enforce) any basic road rules in the way the attractions at Legoland do? Or do they essentially just let people drive around as they wish?
  17. A friend of mine was saying the other day that on Arkham Asylum, he was able to prevent the horrible squeezing by the harness by applying force on it during the ride. I'm wondering, has anyone else tried and succeeded in doing this?
  18. Nope. All of this "high alert" terrorism stuff is just politics to make the government look like they're doing something to an essentially non-existent threat in Australia.
  19. Can someone just explain to me why we're complaining about Justice League now? Because I do believe (correct me if I'm wrong) we were all super excited and amazed by it when it opened.
  20. That's 12 million visits, not visitors. The majority of people visiting the Gold Coast are people from within about 2 hours drive of the Gold Coast. Only about 1 million of those are international visitors and about 5 million are domestic visitors (not local). I do admit, our parks do need some amazing new rides, but with it costing about 3 times more to build/do things (based off minimum wage levels) here than it does in America, I don't really see that happening.
  21. You might think that they're in the middle of nowhere, but really, the catchment area for those parks could be five times the population of the south east Queensland. Alton towers for example, is located in the middle of nowhere, you need to go down small country roads to get to it, but within two hours drive of the park, are about 10-14 million people. The number of people within two hours drive of Dreamworld is about 3 million people. Even if only half of the population goes to a theme park, Alton towers will still get more visitors than population in South East Queensland. So, you're very, very wrong when you say a Gold Coast theme park would make 100x more than a random six flags. If south east Queensland had a population (tourist visitation) of 10-14 million people, then we might be able to see some amazing B&M's, but we don't, so we can't.
  22. I do think I'd prefer it if they kept spending their budget on making bad ads for good rides and not good ads for bad rides.
  23. It looks like there's a hose or pipe of some sort on the ground, so I'm assuming they just hosed it down.
