  1. Too hard to resist replying on this shocking article.
  2. That is a decent looking coaster I must say. But that minimum height (130cm) requirement as pointed out by AlexB is an issue. Especially when children at 120cm can ride TOT2 and HW. If you are after family you have to try and at least cater the best you can for the market you are after. If they were to head towards these kinds of rides it would not be the end of the world by any means. Heck imagine is MDMC got replaced. Kids between 110cm and 130cm (I think) can only go on the sidecars. Sometimes the queues for the sidecars are long even on days that are not terribly busy.
  3. Sky Voyager is the sore point I must agree. Clearly, more issues exist than we are being told or (either formally or informally) thus the enthusiast community are more upset than the GP. Well, that's my observation anyway. I am hopeful the concrete appears soon.
  4. Giving them a chance is a bold thing to do also.
  5. 100% agree the track record has been rather dull. They had people who just did not know what they could or should do. Sure some people in the past did an alright job but this park changed the industry here in Australia forever. I really do think with the capital they can invest, plus the management restructures this place can turn its self around. It might not get to the standard everyone wants but it surely cannot get any worse than it has been. I think for now its good that Seaworld is doing all these announcements. Some of the heat (well only a little) gets taken away from DW while SW does its thing. Just means when DW does something it will be good. I mean heck everyone seems excited about a topspin for SW 😂
  6. If they are going to fix the image and reputation of the park they need to do something bold. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  7. Seems Volcano Bay is the buzz word of late..... That water temp seems like it was shocking...... What an electric atmosphere they are creating. Kudos to them!.
  8. I wouldn't expect the park to be busy. Was not busy on my recent visits anyway. Perfect time for maintenance also across both parks. As for the removal of the seating near the surf shop maybe its to allow machinery in or something. I am sure they (DW management) know what they want to do and how they can execute it. But naturally not every decision they will make will please everyone.
  9. So on my recent visit to the GC is visited both water parks ( Wnw / WWW). I must say both parks were rather dead with attendance. Even with the water warmed up at WWW you realise it is really cold once you get out. The same issue occurs down the road at WnW. I think it wouldn't be a bad issue to operate seasonally for WWW. It saves Dreamworld money on staffing cost, maintenance cost etc. It becomes a win-win situation really. You could still try to do things like some form of a surf school in the wave pool maybe during winter to have a little competition to the GC wake park down the road. I know the flow rider exists for this also but hey too many options never hurt sometimes. WnW does seasonal operation as we all know with the closure of some attractions. They do this simply as a cost-saving exercise. So can't see why it wouldn't hurt WWW to do the same. Even if its for a few years just so they can save some coin. One major issue is the fact they would then become seasonal for the staff. This can become an issue as staff turn over is naturally high and its usually hard to retain the same staff from season to season. That has been an operational nightmare as some overseas waters and in Sydney.
  10. I wouldn't read too far into this. He could simply be talking to make connections for the future. I mean long term future also.
  11. I am sure the monorail will run for as long as it can before vertical construction near the monorail begins. That's why I took the pics I did. That whole area will be transformed from a storage area to a coaster area. pretty neat to document that.
  12. That indeed is a great move. When I saw this recently I was very impressed
  13. Few photos I took. They'll most likely be my only construction photos.
  14. Areas been like this for the last two weeks. I am just wondering when the Sky Flyer will leave.
  15. Apparently, it is a really good little water park. It has just undergone an expansion and I think another expansion will be in the works within a few years. It's fairly cheap but apparently uses a session system much like the water park at the Big Banan.
  16. Lucky I managed to do the climb when I was up. I did it on the 19th. I mean it is what it is. I was in a group of five (that's including myself). I asked the question to the climb leader if it was still going ahead because nothing was advertised on the website for the future. They acted like they were unsure but obviously, they knew. I got to virtually do it at night and it was nice. But would be much better to do it during the summer period where daylight is out a little longer. But as others have said. After all that investment they can't simply write it off. Then again it is just the fact the jumpsuits wouldn't get used a lot. All the safety equipment would still get used in other areas of the park or in the event of an Evac on the lift hill.
  17. So I recently got to ride Scooby (within the last two weeks) and I have no idea what the hell they did. My previous time before my current go was some two years ago. When it was nothing but a guttered out ride and resembled a "bunnings warehouse" more than a ride. back then it had more character at least. I had not watched any POV of the ride so I went in somewhat blind. Kinda makes me wish I was actually blind now. It is such a terribly themed ride now. Apart from the Tiki section at the end.
  18. Great video. Looks like it has a fairly decent pace of speed to it also. I cannot wait to ride this.
  19. Those facades have been getting updated since the new food area was opened. Ashely ( park artist ) does a terrific job.
  20. Tony is a great man. A hard taskmaster but he taught me a lot. He has told amazing stories over the years I was privileged to work with him. He was operating the carousel in Darling Harbour for a while (before this article was originally published) but it is great to know he returned to LPS.
  21. Maloney's corner is where I would put my money when it comes to a new coaster. Plenty of room and the only close building you would have to deal with is the office block that is located in the Maloney's corner. It would also be rather fitting if it was placed in this area as the previous big dipper used to be somewhat in that area also. I'm sure you could somewhat soundproof the area for the lavender bay residents by placing a decorative wall or something in the way.
  22. Why repeat history again. They don't need to suffer more legal issues. Heck people complain about the tumblebug and the rides in maloneys corner. So in closing no need to poke the bear with a stick
  23. Nice to see the outside of the rotor looking the way I believe it should. The Volare mural ( poster ) looks nice inside the old lighthouse. As for tango train, I didn't really know it was down. It seemed fine when I visited last month. What does seems to be taking place?.
  24. Haha. We used to load/unload really good in the park back when it reopened. I am sure during peak times they are on it but I rarely visit during peak times.
