  1. Well, I've only ridden one, so that's how I separated them
  2. That was a win by default too... is that seriously the only time we've bested the USA in theme parking? Edit: I guess we have backwards DCR and spinning Steel Taipan... but they're only gimmicks on a ride, not the ride itself.
  3. I fear GD whenever I visit. I've only ridden it once. I don't think Lex Luther and Zumanjaro leave you hanging quite as long as GD. When we went to BGT last year I told myself whatever else happens I was getting on Falcons Fury no matter what.... and it was down for the day. Maybe next time!
  4. Maybe so, but they'll still be assuming all of the risk in this case. Businesses want to be able to offload that responsibility these days (quote below for reference): I can't imagine there's many companies out there well-versed in the retrofitting of T-Model Fords. But then again, if the rumours of TTD and Zamperla a true, never say never!
  5. We went from the 15th-22nd October last year. We did the Dreamworld Halloween experience on the 15th (Saturday) when we arrived, and did Horror Nights on the following Friday, the night before we went home. There wasn't all that much that was closed during our visit; there was about a week or two between things opening/closing for maintenance. GL/SS/DCR/SE/WWW/DD/SDSC all open at Movieworld (the odd unplanned outages for the usual suspects however) SC/JR/Vortex all open at Seaworld (Trident/Levi not opened yet) MC/GC/ST/SV/TS/Claw/SW/EFM all open (I think Tailspin and GD were the only closed ride during our visit). We bought an annual pass for DW (it was cheaper when factoring the Halloween ticket), and we'll probably get another visit in this year sometime) and a 7 day 4-park pass for VTRP. We just park-hopped around based on what we felt like doing during our visit. Make a priority list of the rides you want to go on, put them on a calendar as far as their maintenance is concerned, pick the times to go when they're available (noting that these times can unfortunately change). Book your accommodation early as I found it was pretty much selling out a few months before our arrival time; we held off on a hotel booking we liked and missed out months early, had to book somewhere else instead.
  6. Well they kind of had to anyway to remove the Dreamworks naming from the maps. Transitionary naming for the time being, but as the redevelopment of the areas continue new artwork would have to be made, and the new naming to go with it.
  7. Best seat on the coaster in my opinion. First drop definitely took me by surprise when you get yeeted over the top of the lift hill
  8. I was pondering at that shot and wondering what it is that happens next to the track between the hat and that gatorade bottle.. There's an awful lot of wear there.
  9. From my perspective Taipan edges out Superman purely through ride comfort and re-ride ability. After a couple of laps my shoulders/neck (and my wife's ears) are sore (bleeding) from Superman. It's rough and the OTSR's aren't soft. I love the pre-show/launch on SE, but it's just not comfortable enough to enjoy multiple times a day. If they splashed the cash to get the newer trains/restraints (like Velocicoaster for example, which are much more like DCR/Taipan) I'm sure I'd have voted for SE.
  10. Looks just like the tape markings they had for Scooby/DC Rivals/Superman around Easter last year
  11. What is it about Trident that makes in a lemon? I know it's had weather issues but I haven't kept up to speed on anything else.
  12. Been having a snoop, and interestingly the entire plot of wnw/paradise country/mw/movie studios is all Lot 6 SP118653. Definitely not Seaworld though!
  13. Possibly controversial question here. Do you think that Scooby's throughput will be better/worse/same after the revamp? We've seen improvements made to WWW that seemingly make throughput worse, due to changing safety standards. With new ride vehicles/ride system planned, I'm expecting it will be more reliable but will that come with a trade off of reduced capacity? All speculation of course...
  14. Glad to hear the ride should be a smoother, those small dips really bruise your internal organs if you're not prepared! Also: Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Next Generation 2.0?
  15. It's absolutely possible. It would just require agreement from both 'companies'. It happens all the time elsewhere in the world. Might be unlikely, but it's possible.
  16. It's probably more than just buying speakers and throwing them in. The park seems to have trouble keeping rides open consistently; they need constant attention (GL/DD). Im also assuming the same team responsible for fixing them are maintaining the rides too. Id also imagine this kind of work would need to be done when the park is closed so they can configure/ adjust sound levels, and they might not have time to do this with the other maintenance going on. They speakers might have a particular requirement that are rare to find these days or too expensive (for the budget allowed). There might not even be a budget for their replacement. Maybe management haven't noticed therefore haven't made it a priority?
  17. Welp... I stand corrected. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Spotty I think this might have been the case now that you put it that way.
  18. In my experience you're allowed to line up outside the queue from 9, the ride ops arrive at the ride and start testing at 9:30, and the ride opens once testing is complete (which was at least 9:50 from one of the photos I had from my last visit standing in the pre-queue). For this to have happened with no paying guest impact, the ops would have had to test and have these guys cycled and done with filming before their normal open time (which was around 9:50-10am last I was there). +1000 doubt Movie World would have brought ops in earlier to do this prior to their usual opening time. I would be gracious in defeat if they did. You've all made me analyse this situation much more than I originally did/planned to. I honestly don't care about it that much, but now I'm just trying to make sure you're on the same page as me as far as how I've interpreted this playing out. The reality is it would have at most been two cycles (the same as testing) that would have impacted other guests.
  19. I'm not saying they directed MW to close the ride, but by virtue of them wanting to film, the ride was closed for them. My use of commanding was more around the definition of drawing attention or priority (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/commanding). This makes sense now that you mention it. Having watched the video again the ride was closed on both runs. The 'pre ride' discussions where they were lined up in a full queue must have been one of their non-filming re-rides, which threw me off.
  20. Did anyone else notice when they rode forward Rivals was open (queue was filling up) but when they returned to ride backwards the ride was closed (queue was empty and everyone could be see queuing outside on the bridge). I'd be filthy if I was a paying customer that day... Holidays are busy enough as it is without someone commanding a ride to be closed so they can film it. Even more so if I was to learn after the fact that they were gifted admission and an unlimited use fast track. At least they only let them film on 2 rides. Upside is, these POV's are better (image wise) than the ones Movieworld had for Rivals.
  21. How can 'includes one entry to ride it backwards on: Leviathan' mean it doesn't? I'm guessing they were supposed to cover one of them up, depending on demand
