What do you think is the best dark ride in Australia?
AllegroCrab replied to Bailz's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The 'drop' on looney tunes was like going down a hill in a car. -

SuperBatMan? What a bollocks name. If this is even remotely true, I will format centre all of my future Parkz forum posts. -

Why so secretive? I'm interested to see what kind of world first ride you're speculating they will put in. -
News to me lol.

Dive 'N' Movies are back... sort of...
AllegroCrab replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
How does the screen look with the bright lights over the wave pool? Is the picture affected at all? Granted I've never been to dive'n'movies. -
If that's what you're into.

What can Movie World do to reduce the strain?
AllegroCrab replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Most people would never have seen those windows before, it'd certainly be a nice distraction to keep everyone interested while waiting in the queue, even if the novelty wears off after a few times. Always thought the earthquake effects should move into the queue line. Rumbling noises, flickering lights and statticky screens would fit perfectly just as the train leaves the station. -
See, the relevance is always there if you dig deep enough.

What can Movie World do to reduce the strain?
AllegroCrab replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
A few years ago I would praise Movie World for having seemingly nonexistent queues during peak times. I took a bunch of friends last year and told them we wouldn't have to worry about waiting times at Movie World, but spent the rest of the day getting roasted while we waited around in queues all day. I think everyone here echoes the same sentiments. Put in some attractions that take in a large amount of people and keep them entertained for a large amount of time. All the old crowd killers were removed and replaced with great attractions, but they're just no where near as capacity friendly. -

I agree with all of this. It was a decent day out, but I won't be rushing back with much enthusiasm. I really hope they get their act into gear and showcase the potential for more successful parks in Sydney. -

'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP

It also makes people freak out unnecessarily when it does fall off mid-ride, I've seen it happen more than once. -
'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
AllegroCrab replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Have you ridden the ride? What do you call that massive building made of shipping containers, with boats, cars, barrels, water jets etc. Theming is the thing that Storm has going for it, I think they did a great job at it. -
Wet and Wild Sydney - Report Dec 2015
AllegroCrab replied to downunder's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sound like your average day at a water park for me. Having been to both WnWGC and WnWS a few times each, GC is far better for a nice day out, park operations are much smoother, probably because they've been doing it for years. Sydney is probably better in terms of the slides, but not by much, and apart from the slides/wave pool, there's not much else to do, especially in the form of relaxing, which is seemingly encouraged at WnWGC. The atmosphere is lacking, they're in desperate need of more buildings and foliage. It's like a parking lot theme park but without the compensation of fun roller coasters. The third time I visited was one of the few times I've wanted to go home midway through the day at a theme park. That and when I rode Superman Escape a few too many times years ago and felt sick as a dog. Also, not having a ride like Surf Rider is a real let down, easily the highlight of WnWGC for me, considering I don't see the big deal when it comes to water slides I really want the park to do well to show that a fully-fledged amusement park would be viable in Sydney. As it stands, I'll probably visit once again this summer -
Wanda Group to build theme park on Gold Coast?
AllegroCrab replied to DJKostya's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Surely a new park on the GC can't be harmful to the other parks. The most traffic comes from people who are staying in the area for a few days and will visit multiple parks. It's not like everyone's going to forget about the parks that are already established as the most famous in Australia. The existing parks will be forced to do more to compete, I reckon it's one of the best things that could happen for consumers. -
What's your favourite Coaster?
AllegroCrab replied to AUSTHEMEPARKS's topic in Theme Park Discussion
For me, there's an existing balance between fun forces (ie the main forces you feel) and intense forces (ie the holding on for dear life factor while you're being beaten up by the ride.) Something like Superman gives you lots of fun forces (launch, airtime, Gs on the banked corners) with little intense forces, whereas something like Arkham gives you less fun forces with a lot of intense forces. It just shakes you around and batters you, leaving you physically exhausted by the end of the ride, with the most fun parts being the drop, the (zero g?) overbank past the station and the helix at the end. I find the former (superman) much more enjoyable. -
What's your favourite Coaster?
AllegroCrab replied to AUSTHEMEPARKS's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Superman Escape - The launch alone beats anything I've ever ridden, which isn't much, but for me it beats Colossus at Thorpe Park and Big One fwiw.
