Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
AllegroCrab replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That's an incredible idea. But it'll be a minor miracle if it happens. I've always wanted the Taipan from the Easter Show to end up at Luna Park as a semi-permanent - permanent attraction. That ride is perfect for the ideology of LPS. Haven't been for a while, but there seems to be quite a bit of space where the log flume is (on google earth, not sure if it's still there because I'm sure the same one was at the easter show.) Doesn't look like it has a much smaller footprint than the wild mouse. So there may be space there for a compact. Coupled with your rooftop idea, I think the park would be worth a day trip to the city. -
It would have to be the Giant suspended boomerang. The day Dreamworld gets an old, pre-owned boomerang coaster is the day all hope is lost. Buzzsaw, for me, was disappointing. To have another cheap, short-circuit or cheap shittle coaster would spell the end for me.

They blocked me faster than Robb Alvey did for voicing my opinion.

Wait... You saw the Flume running?!?!

Technically with Superman and Jet Rescue they could do the same sort of thing that MDMC does at Dreamworld, with the spinning storage area. The Claw also does a similar thing with the box opening on both sides, though this might not work as the rides are loading/unloading at the same time. The real exception is Storm. I can't think of a practical way that could have a storage area.

Yeah I think the same thing about breeding. Once the animal is born in captivity, it is pretty much stuck in captivity for life.

Last time I went I rode both. I couldn't stop myself from cracking up on road runner, it was way more fun than I remember it. Even after riding Arkham and Superman, the first corner was beyond hilarious to me for some reason. I was in a state of shock I guess from underestimating the intensity. Rode it about 6 times at the back, it was walk on just before the park closed, even in the middle of summer. It's definitely a step up in terms of thrills from Madagascar. Nearly on par with Scooby Doo if it weren't for the backwards drop. I'll make sure to end all of my future trips to Movie World on such a high note.

I love their propaganda. Let's show images of the slaughtering in Denmark and shots from Blackfish from SW Orlando. No evidence of anything of the sort happening in Australia, yet they insist on closing Gold Coast SW?

It must really pain the passionate people who give all of the animals in the marine park a safe place to live, where they would die in the wild otherwise. I think you'll find though that most of the people signing this petition aren't true animal activists, they're just your regular blow-ins who always want to take the moral high ground to make them feel like a better person. Surely anyone who truly cared about animals would know that Sea World are doing nothing detrimental to any animal's life, and also don't break down any natural ecosystem flows/cycles etc. They don't force the animals to do anything they don't want to either. It is probably even better for the animal if it works for its food. They take the animals who would otherwise not survive and allow them to live, helping us to learn more about them as a species. This will ultimately assist in management of animals in the wild. I don't see where the animals are disadvantaged here (further than their already existing disabilities).

Something like this needs to happen sooner or later. I've thought for a while now that a ride like this or a Eurofighter would be perfect for Dreamworld. Packs a big punch with a small footprint and price tag. Looks like the guys over in Perth beat the big boys to the eurofighter idea, (still no reason not to build one) but I'd rather see something new and adventurous like the French example here.

I'd love to see a Screamin' Swing at Movie World, though I don't think they could fit one in the Arkham Asylum courtyard. Depending on how tall it is, (15m - 20m tall would leave a massive footprint, at least 15m x 40m.) Is there any room for this somewhere easily accessible without deviating from the current pathways? They are something I've wanted to ride for a while now.

Nearly everyone I talk to (in Sydney I should add) look at me funny when I say bad things about dreamworld. They find it absurd when I try to claim that Movie World is the better park of the two, even when I delve into reasons why. The Giant Drop, ToT and The Claw are just the larger talking points among the general public when it comes to parks in Australia. It is an unfortunate fact, but we all know this is true. I am just one young 'un who is proud to say that Movie World is better than Dreamworld. (Who could turn down Superman Escape over the Tower of Terror anyway?)

Sea World Wild: What Could It Be?
AllegroCrab replied to the12thworld's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Wild West Falls has to be my favourite ride on the Gold Coast. I understand that in the future it might come to a time where the ride is past its use-by date, but that time isn't now. It's the only ride we have that offers such a perfect family experience, especially now the Bermuda Triangle is gone. Sure, the Storm might be aimed at the same market, but that ride is monstrous. It looks much more threatening than it really is and therefore many people that fit into the 'family' market will be put off. WWF however, from the outside, is one big drop, something most parents can bring themselves to do, or convince young children to do. I don't think this is the case with the Storm. It simply isn't feasible to remove what is one of, if not, the most popular ride at Movie World to make way for a coaster at this point in time. It is needed as a ride on the Gold Coast more than any B&M Mega Looper/Hyper Coaster/Giga Coaster I wish we could have. I agree that its footprint is massive, but that may be the very thing that makes the ride that much better than anything else on the Gold Coast, the lack of size restriction really allows the ride to be the best it can possibly be. While on the topic of WWF, does anyone on here know of any cuts to its theming since it opened? -
I'm sure that over the off season, the original plants will grow in and they'll have time to plant more. I'm eager to see what will eventuate of this park. I'm more eager to see if another park will eventuate in the same area. The day I see that thread open on this website will be one to remember.

When did Bermuda Triangle start to go downhill
AllegroCrab replied to coasterdude44's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I can barely remember the first time I rode it, I must have been 4 or 5. Apparently I was alright with it, but was scared of the aliens. I went on for the last time in 2008. Also rode the corkscrew that visit, that ride (and rct3 of course!) is what really got me into theme parks. I was most disappointed when I saw that there were no fire effects, that was one of the main selling points. I guess it hinted that the end of the ride's services were coming. -
Yeah maybe I only noticed it the last time I rode in September because I wasn't riding with anyone else. I'd usually be hitting up a friendly lift hill conversation.

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
AllegroCrab replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah. When the ride queue video is sponsored by AOL, it's time to do a bit of rejigging. Though I was pretty young when the movie came out, I still watched it loads of times for years afterwards. I love the nostalgic feeling I get every time I ride it, (though I think that may be more the fact that it was my first roller coaster than the fact that it is based on a movie I watched multiple times in primary school.) I think it might be time to move on from the 2002 movie though. It can still retain the theme from the movie, but have something else playing (a mini episode like Flea suggested) in the queue. I don't think anyone got too attached to the behind the scenes trailer anyway. -
I had it the first time I went on GL (April 2012) but haven't had sound since. Also had Arkham Asylum sound the same day, as well as once (out of at least 5 rides) in September 2013.

What will be the next attraction to open at the GC parks?
AllegroCrab replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
For the love of god Dreamworld... Please build a new, full circuit roller coaster. -
Our best bet is another park being built. Later is better than never. As for Luna Park, they have too many restrictions to do anything big. They'll just have to make the most of what's already there.
