Jungle Rush Coaster
I'm unsure as to why you would plan it this way? It puts an unnecessary strain on the general workforce, plus costs more, maybe that's why they couldn't afford new Vintage Cars anymore? Is it worth pulling operations staff, maintenance staff and other stakeholders out of the park, to have them on an alternate shift? Like what they've done for Motocoaster for example?

Dreamworld Maintenance Schedule 2024
Motocoaster has reportedly been closed to accomodate works for MM and JR. If they're pushing the reopening back by another month, it is a fair assumption that the construction works for the aforementioned attractions are also delayed by a month. Moto had already been down for a multiple month maintenance period earlier in the year. When I visited the park the other day, both trains are sitting dormant in the station, with no work taking place. Our group spoke to an operations staff member who informed us they believe it is also down due to construction works.

Spoken like a true DW Spokesperson. They've been pushing the unfavourable weather narrative from the moment they announced the attraction. DW know it, they've changed their wording recently on when you can expect to open it. There is also hardly ANY paid media advertising around this ride currently, and I'd be willing to bet they have no idea when it will open.

Key word being almost, the entire top section of both inside and outside are missing their panels. Still a lot of work to do just to the structure itself, let alone everything else. MM looks like it has at a guess, almost a month of theming work to go. There's A LOT to do in 66 days. You've got one team of theming contractors doing that entire side of the build alone, trying to complete two attractions. Doesn't matter how much they've done in a short timeframe, if they still miss the opening.

State have a set amount of hours it needs to operate also, same goes for carnival rides, albeit less hours. Industry contacts provided me with that information. But there is a lot of information in other press releases across the world specifically for the Mack coasters and their commissioning requirements. Check the IAAPA database. This is correct when referencing reach/clearance tests, which we were not. Before an attraction can be fully "energised" or complete full circuits, all of the rides envelope is required to be fully secured. Once that happens the footprint is naturally classed as a red zone, meaning no one is inside that area, nor able to work within the space. Temporary construction fencing is not classified as envelope fencing, so they would need to fully construct and finish anything main fences around the area. Doing this would obviously inhibit the work needing to be done on the surrounding area, including MM.

It's not just based on the forces the attraction are under though. This also has a large, complex moving element, more than any standard switch track, this will take time and I imagine will warrant a large amount of required cycles too. As I said above though, it's not JUST about the scenic elements, it's about having a completed footprint. For an attraction to be fully "energised" and operated within QLD it needs a fully secured ride envelope. JR does not currently have that, and would require the build to be further along for that to be completed. Regardless of that, they still have an attraction that is arguably not even 50% complete, some of which is within the coasters footprint, and also forms part of the main entrance of this land. I truly struggle to see this being opened in 2024.

Steel Taipan and Rivals both needed 1000 cycles before being complaint and able to operate with guests. It's set by both the state and the manufacture, most have a minimum of 100 hours before running with guests, you can do the math on that. Correct, at night, within a completed ride envelope. JR doesn't have that currently. It isn't testing, it's been jogged from the maintenance bay to the station, purely to allow the other train to be installed. From all the footage we've now seen, it doesn't look like there is any work taking place within the footprint of the attraction, and the fences all look complete...

Keep drinking the cool aid mate. They have changed their wording in most of their recent digital content to "we're hoping to still have it opened" or "we're aiming for late December still". That doesn't fill me with much confidence. We're seeing barely any paid media advertising around the new land, and the only reason that is, is because they don't have confidence in any date yet. We've seen more for a ride that isn't opening till 2025. JR is "almost" complete physically, but they haven't even started cycling the attraction yet. They will need to do a few thousand cycles before it's compliant. To my understanding that can't happen until the attraction is finished physically, including scenic. There is easily a few months of work left overall, they're seriously pushing it to have it completed this year imo.

Main issues here with your post are, the fact that one of your examples is from an international park, with vastly different safety requirements, secondly flat rides have different requirements than coasters do. Queensland has some of the strictest laws in the country surrounding attractions, I'd imagine their hands are tied with this.

Wet 'n' Wild has enough PPT staff to run the park during non peak periods, and hire more during peak. All the parks do; just helps having a group of people to begin with, and not starting from scratch each time. They're not advertising for lifeguards at the moment, so it's probably not even that?
