Theming is important, no question, what I am saying though it to me theming comes after ride quality in order of importance. To flip your example the other way would Superman be such a great ride if it travelled at a slow speed around a flat track? Of course not. To be a really good ride all the parts have to come together and I think that the drivable cars option is a disappointing one. (Incidentally it strikes me as strange that Dreamworld cops so much flak about having 'Spin'n'spews' more suited to shows and carnivals but most people are pretty relaxed about Movie World adding another set of dodgems.) I stand by the replacement call as well. MW got to a point with LTRR where they either refurbished it or replaced it. After a long break they decided to use the space for JDS. I'm comfortable to call it a replacement. Yes, there may be other plans not yet released, to change other rides, add new ones etc which will show this is just a piece of the puzzle but right now I think it is reasonable to call it a replacement.

I can see I'm one out here, maybe it's the difference between being a theme park fanatic and just being interested in theme parks. I know people on here see theming etc as vitally important to rides, to me it is just the icing on the cake. If this ride was there instead of the Speedy Cars or the Dodge'em rink near Scooby I'd think it was a very good improvement. My issue is with the quality of the ride, I don't question it is popular now but I question the re-ridability and whether it will hold interest down the track. For older kids, in that gap between the Looney Tunes Rides and the thrill rides (say 8 - 12 year olds) I think this ride will quickly lose interest and I think that is a shame as it is the demographic MW is weakest at appealing to.

Fair call, put LTRR aside and it is still a weak ride. Great theming but a weak ride. I think having dodge'em cars as a significant attraction at a theme park is disappointing. No.

I don't agree. Yes, theming and attention to detail is excellent, big tick there. But to me replacing a ride like the LTRR with what is in effect a fancy dodge'em cars ride is a huge disappointment, in terms of the quality of the actual ride.

To be taken with a grain of salt, but there were some worrying recounts of experiences at the ride on Facebook yesterday.

With two daughters around that age this just makes me sick in the guts. Just not right.

I think it is fair and reasonable to criticise a ride based on the type it is. My comment is losing a family ride is a poor option for the park, regardless of the quality of the Mini Cars. If Dreamworld pulled down the roller coaster and replaced it with a ride from a different genre I'd say the same thing because I think a park is poorer without a roller coaster.

Does one of them exist already somewhere? I tried to google but could only find the individual words, not altogether.

For the layman posters can anyone give an example of the sort of stuff that people feel is lacking?

Sorry, yes I mean either keep LTRR or replace it with another family ride.

Not LTRR specifically but the genre of a ride for a whole family with young kids, which to me is a very important part of the theme park experience. You may well be right about a family attraction, I hope so, but until we know that I think the park is poorer for it.

To me, it doesn't matter if the Mini-Cars is an amazing ride, it will still be a mistake. The reason being the park has removed the genre of a family friendly ride that parents and younger children can enjoy from the park and to me that is a massive hole. I'm sure the driving school will be a fine ride and kids will enjoy it but the park overall is poorer for it I think.

I don't know about standards but I'd say in stock terms Movie World is down while Dreamworld, Sea World and WnW are up. Justice League and Driving Schools aren't great recent form in my eyes.

I feel anyone who consumes either is very silly.
