  1. Was a few years ago now, I had a bad back and couldn't ride and my wife took both kids. I'm sure they had a sign up about a parent swap line where parent and kid 1 rode, then kid 2 was able to swap on.
  2. I think when there is a line every ride should be single rider, ie you get on in the order you are lined up until the seats are full. The luxury of leaving seats empty so people can fit their entire group on a ride at once should only be allowed at quiet times, after all it is a ride not a table at a cafe. I think a rule like that would quickly change the way people queue and great increase efficiency.
  3. Would it have anything to do with the bridge possibly going?
  4. I like the idea suggested about incorporating them into the Storm theming. (Sorry can't find where it was said!) A plaque could be added to the Storm area to explain them to future visitors.
  5. Looking more and more likely to me that there has to be a reason behind the haste here.
  6. To me the pic looks like a Dodge Em' car rink with a pretty wall.
  7. Keep hoping I'll see something here that won't make me sad. No luck yet.
  8. We've had that trouble, shoes make a big difference, my youngest is ok in sneakers but not thongs.
  9. Whoops! Can't seem to edit it. I think the value of attractions is quite subjective and difficult to measure though but feel free to point out things I've missed, as I said it was just roughly done. Certainly no bias, I like all the parks, I do think Dreamworld is a better day out in terms of filling a day with kids but I'd much prefer to go to SeaWorld any day.
  10. Terrible source I know but just noticed the Sea World wikipedia page says Wild will open in 2015.
  11. I think it works well there as well, and I think it is more accessible for kids because it isn't a high thrill ride. I find my kids will go on things like Wipeout and Panda but not high rides like Claw, GL, Superman etc...... A lot of the knocks on Dreamworld seem to be based around the mine ride closing. My rough research indicates that since the Mine ride closed in 2006 Dreamworld has done the following: Opened MDMC Opened Supercars Replaced Vortex with AVPX then Zombie Evolution Relaunched Tower of Terror Opened Shockwave Opened Buzzsaw Replaced Avalanche Pandamonium Opened Big Red Boat Rethemed Dreamworks and Panda areas Revitalised Skadoosh and Wipeout Replaced Stingray with about to open Tail Spin Opened Whitewaterworld Added Little Rippers Added Wedgie About to add Triple Vortex Closed Dora Sea Planes In comparison the other parks have done the following: Opened Batwing Added Bumper cars Rethemed WB Fun Zone Replaced Looney Tunes River Ride with about to be opened Driving School Replaced Batman Adventure with Justice League Opened Green Lantern Rethemed Arkham Asylum Added Jet Rescue Closed Pirate Ship Replaced Bermuda Triangle with Storm Opened Castaway Bay Closed Sea Viper Replaced WWM with River Rapids Opened Kamikaze Replaced Speed Coaster and Twister with Aqualoops Replaced Terror Canyon with Constrictor I may have missed a few things there but I think that shows in the period since the Mine Ride closed Dreamworld/WWW has certainly punched above its weight in terms of adding attractions when compared to the other parks. I understand the Mine Ride has been sitting for 7 years now which is a long time and is frustrating but it is worth noting LTRR and Bermuda sat idle for 3-4 years each as well.
  12. This is where I think DW cops a rough deal on this forum. I look at the Panda ride and see where they took a crappy old ride and rebuilt the area, with great theming, even to the extent of rebranding the bumper cars, and the end result looks really good. The ride itself is quite different to anything else on the Gold Coast and has the added advantage (maybe not to hardcore thrill seekers, but certainly to lots of other demographics) of being accessible on more than one level of riding. It seems to me that the Panda area is exactly the sort of thing DW seems to cop flack over for not doing in other areas.
  13. Yeah you would reckon it would be something you'd make sure of. Imagine that feeling when you are watching the fuel gauge of the car thinking am I going to make it or not, except you're 15,000 feet up!
  14. Don't quote me but I have a feeling the next day they said it ran out of fuel.
  15. I was actually on the hydro-coaster stairs when the helicopter crashed in the car park. Would have been June 2009 just before our son was born. The pilot did very well to put it down where he did and avoid the cars etc around.
  16. I'm more upset with the concept that 45 makes you an 'older person'!!!!!!!
  17. Probably depends how many seats are in the row on WIpeout v Claw. If it is an even number v odd number it would impact the opportunity for the single rider.
  18. It's actually a pretty rare opportunity for a park to have a large area of marquee space that can be completely used for a ride rather than trying to make the best use of the space there is available. Pretty exciting really. I wonder if this has anything to do with the disappearance of Wild for the time being? A sandbar sitting untouched is a lot better look than a decommissioned roller coaster.
  19. Bit like a sporting great retiring, sad but also exciting to see what comes next.
