  1. Streamlining the approval process and courting the investors. They fucked that right up in 1999. Paramount was ready to commit but the new Labor government didn't give a shit about one of Jeff Kennett's last big tourism ideas. Instead they've built a fucken Ferris Wheel that isn't even working yet when it was supposed to open proper in 2006. Without the government trying to court investors to the state, we ain't gonna get one anytime soon... Investors are always looking for government support to get planning approval, funding, tourism support from government agencies, etc. Government kicking in some dosh to get the park built is attractive as an added incentive to investors. And it shows commitment to the project. We've only had two major proposed themepark developments in this city, and both fell through due to the Labor government, Bracks in '99(the company got the distinct impression Labor didn't care about theme parks or entertainment attractions) and Brumby in '08(because they didn't want to hand over Werribee Zoo, not the "cost to taxpayers" which was just an excuse).
  2. It is best described as an attempted hostile takeover of itself.... lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burger_King_Corporation_v_Hungry_Jack%27s
  3. Spent alot of time in 'em.... Lol. I guess reminiscing on when Maccas actually closed at night is gonna be one of my "Abe Simpson" tales! Not to mention when "7-11" actually meant 7am to 11pm(They should change the name to "24-7"!) Remember when Burger King tried to kill it's own creation in Hungry Jacks? 1996 was one of the weirdest years in Australian fast food history... Burger King literally "invaded" Melbourne(plonked several American managed BK branded stores in Melbourne) and tried to destroy it's own Franchisee. Were it not for the Courts, Hungry Jack would have been put out to dry by it's own franchiser! Walking into Burger King on Flinders Street was a strange experience... Kinda liked it better, if HJ had of failed with it's you can't stab us in the back" court action, the Flinders Street HJ might still have been a Burger King... Clearly they thought the public was under the impression they owned Hungry Jacks anyway(they own the trademarks, etc) and would interpret it as being a rebranding so no one would realise they were trying to kill their actual Franchisee. HJ survived financially because their American counterpart was forced to give their Melbourne stores, effectively, to another part.... of themselves! "I once went into Burger King and ordered a Whopper... ON FLINDERS STREET! And the burger tasted alot better too!"
  4. It started in 1999 and was immediately rolled out here as well, not in 2000... Originally they posted his story(newspaper articles) in their stores. You are correct in a way though because 2000 was the "formal beginning of the campaign" where they rolled out his famous cardboard cutout. But before that various Subway stores publicized his story by posting Newspaper clipping in their outlets in the same manner a Restaurant posts reviews and halal certs in their shopwindows. Might have been right at the end, but it was the nineties.
  5. I wish they'd bring back Jarod, what happened to that guy? He was totally their mascot... Man I miss the 90s alot sometimes.
  6. Lol. Seriously though, I just can't believe Dino Park Coolum is actually happening and it appears no thought has actually gone into how it'll look/work as a themed attraction. Doesn't bode well for his new Titanic.
  7. Frankly I just plain wish he'd buy or takeover Dreamworld and sink $60 Million bucks into it... Ardent suck. Jurassic World at Dreamworld! He needs somewhere to put the dinos. Not all of them can be plunked on a Golf Course(that he's obviously sabotaging so he can turn it into a theme park instead).
  8. Two Words: Council Approval. Neverland was mostly fairground rides for young kids, so probably not, or of it did, it was probably a Wacky Worm or other kids rollercoaster. MJ never used it himself, he opened it up mostly for kid weekend tour groups Willy Wonka style. I think it's now open to the general public.
  9. No... That's not what I wrote at all. Get my crazy rumors right at least... I only said "I recently read about their plans to try and get approval to expand into the parking lot". Edit: actually I put it this way: "Need more new rides, and also (need) council approval for expansion into the parking lot, which I (happened to) read about the other day(despite it possibly being older news)", clearer for you now with the bracket edits? Frankly it is well documented they've had that in their sights for a while. Last time it came up was in 2010. All that probably came of it was Green Lantern, but the 2010 proposal was for further expansion/development(apparently including a retail area?)than what actually occured there. Was probably just looking at sonewhat older Movie World news. No doubt it's still on the longer term cards though, as we all agree they need it. Meh, was quite happy lurking again... Maybe I should report my own posts and get kicked out again...
  10. Technically I forfilled the loose membership requirements, which is essentially that you claim to be Anonymous and that's it.... I'm actually a supporter specifically of their anti-Scientology protesting, So I am technically a direct member because I have been involved in one of their specific campaigns, Project chanology, also called Operation Clambake.
  11. Just thought I'd drop by and say hello.... And say I'm glad this ride is being built. Who gives a shit where? Need more new rides, and also Council approval for their proposed further expansion(into the parking lot) which I read about the other day. Movie World needs more space. Also I'm glad to be lurking again, so I'm glad this temporary account will probably be banned and possibly this post deleted. I'm also happy my posts were all deleted! YEAH! My trick was to flood the forums with dummy accounts on similar IPs and emails, which I presume ended up getting me (unintentionally... Was only trying to figure out the site's flaws) flagged for spamming which fantastically deleted all my posts. Now mods, do you worst again to this one too! Not one for hiding either, so no need to play that stupid guessing game an earlier poster commented on.
