  1. Now Linfox owns both, they could, with council approval of cause, even be shifted slightly offsite over to the Palais side(consolidated offices in a new permanent administrative building?). Not saying they will, but Linfox is quite adept at making such developmental decisions. I'd wonder if his original proposal for the site included significant admin offices. Perhaps that's the plan after all.... And put a well placed crossing/walkway in the lane. Or even the road closed to public traffic and turned into a "walk" like Swanston and Bourke, with only emergency, construction, Taxi(If needed) and Admin access. It's a pretty redundant lane anyway, except for the small amount of Parking(could easily be accounted for elsewhere on the Palais block).
  2. Not to mention Dreamworld can't exactly take on Volunteer employees due to it's commercial nature. Also if a boiler exploded on say Puffing Billy, the popularity of that railway would no doubt preserve the existence of it in the long run. You couldn't just shut it down. After a safety review and appropriate downtime, it would be back up and running with Government assistance(heck that's how it started in the first place).
  3. Most historical railways operate off the back of Donations(to the historical societies), Government Funding, the tourism bucks, Volunteer Workers, Steam Train operators that are retired or "working for the fun of it".... The list goes on. Dreamworld doesn't have the advantage of being able to do the same.
  4. I'm sure it's contracted out to Sudden Impact for a set period(2-3 years?) so I doubt it'll go through periods of low staff. They're not employed by Dreamworld, they're employed by Sudden Impact under contract with Dreamworld. Perhaps the attraction may close during the off seasons, etc, but when open it will probably operate with a full crew of performers. Sudden Impact is an event production company that hires it's own performers, so they are the actual employer here.
  5. Universal owns the rights to that, through an agreement with Matt Groening and his Gracie Films. Fox is the distributer of The Simpsons and owns the copyright to Simpsons merchandise, but not the intellectual property or production rights.
  6. anyone remember what that leaked factory plan looked like? seems like it was the real layout now we get to actually see it.
  7. The lift tower(or is it still called a lift hill?)!!!
  8. Actually that's the usual spring holiday temporary ride(Metropolis spot). Still appears to be another ride coming later in the year.
  9. I don't think this is meant to be a big attraction, just a replacement for AVPX, which wasn't one of the park's bigger attractions.
  10. Adventure World is privately owned and operated, and the owners are possibly encouraged by the Good forecasted prospects of Perth's tourism growth(/boom), there are also several major rival projects being currently proposed in Perth. So a major investment was a "juicy prospect", good for the State, and now the park can start building itself up even more(possibly in anticipation of rivals coming along), perhaps another major ride in a few years time. Dreamworld is not privately owned.... They have shareholders to contend with. Villiage Roadshow(owners of Movie World, Sea World, etc) also has shareholders to contend with, but they're a heck of alot more cashed up, and always were, thanks to their Cinema chains(jointly owned with Greater Union) and film production arm(technically they are also a "Film Studio").
  11. The Gold Rush theme changed when Buzzsaw opened up. Any new ride installed would probably be themed to Ghosts, as the "Town of Gold Rush" theme is now that of a Ghost "Gold Rush" Town rather than a booming Gold Rush town. A Haunted Mine Roller Coaster could fit this theme, but it requires management with "impressive vision that goes way beyond the forward estimates" to quote a Liberal Politician talking about most of Labor's grand schemes in this current election campaign. In other words, Management that doesn't give a crap about how much it will all cost because they won't be there to see it through to the end. Management with the vision of "We've nothing to lose".... Edit: So yes, I agree with Alex. But only because of the lack of cost effectiveness. The fact is a Mine Coaster would continue to fit the theme of the area but Ardent doesn't have the luxury of being able to make announcements of wild and expensive projects at the moment or in the foreseeable future.
  12. I think it would be fun if we all took guesses at the name of this... We've only got until Friday 13th! The Death Eater(totally looks like one!)!!! The Curse!!! The Ghoul!!!
  13. I hope they didn't just paint Holodeck, I hope they replaced the screen and put new ride videos in.
  14. I doubt they will use both spaces. They'd need to punch through the current staff offices to link both areas. Could happen, but I don't think it will. Still got space for a coaster in Metropolis old area though, if they get one. The things going on at LPM this year: New larger forecourt Restoration of their entrance spires Re-themeing/refurbishment of Holodeck(now called XLR8) This new ride.
  15. Well they must have payed good cash for that space. Pointless Displays = Advertising.
  16. Dig on their Facebook page and you'll find confirmation it's a Brand New ride, which probably means it's permanent. They responded to someone asking about it.
  17. Dropping, Churning.... What's the difference? The point is you'll feel like you wanna puke. Well, last time I walked off a ride with my "head spinning" and "stomach dropping" was the dang Gravitron.... Way back in the day...
  18. Personally I thought it would be a Rotor-type ride after reading "Head Spinning" and "stomach churning".
  19. Good news is that it's Brand New and a Thrill ride! That's enough for me to be excited.
  20. The ride has been purchased already according to another post, but the Facebook person obviously doesn't know what was bought and from where. So yeah, you're probably right.
  21. In the Cinema itself the Greater Union signage has been removed and replaced with Event Cinemas signage. Elsewhere it is called Event. On "Flixter" for example it is called Event Melbourne City Cinemas. Anyway this is getting too off-topic now.
