JR hands down, although it is quite similar in terms of coaster type and layout to MDMC, the fact that it is built close to the ground makes the ride feel a lot faster than MDMC does, although they both launch at identical speeds. Also, JR has a second launch, which allows for a more consistent speed throughout the ride, something which MDMC lacks, as it is basically a launch, a curve and then half the speed and momentum is killed off because of a tall hill.

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season

From what I've heard, Loch Ness Monster and Tennessee Tornado are relatively smooth. Even Sea Viper used to be quite smooth on good days. -

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
XxMrYoshixX replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It's sad we don't have people like @Slick writing articles like these for the big media companies. It tells the last week from the perspective of an actual visitor to the park and delivering 100% fact with no urge to get clickbait, without the Murdoch press twisting it to be an otherwise fake article dependent on clickbait. I don't read OurWorlds much, but this time I read the article and it tells much more facts than a comparable Murdoch/Packer/Fairfax article. Well done @Slick. -
Dreamworld reopening - the summer season

Seems like this "news" article must have been written by either @POP or @SunshineTom. Dreamworld will recover. It just won't happen now as most of the thrill rides that Ardent plan to reopen haven't even re-opened yet. http://www.cairnspost.com.au/news/cairns/dreamworld-a-virtual-ghost-town-two-months-after-death-of-four-patrons/news-story/5b6377cf8db75ee98602e6b007081f7f -
Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Reopening [Dec 26, 2016]
XxMrYoshixX replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that part of the old theming from Scooby? I'm not sure, as I haven't been to the park in years and I've never seen a Mystery Machine in the ride building.- 202 replies

Dreamworld should replace Blue Lagoon with...
XxMrYoshixX replied to joz's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'd suggest Dreamworld replaces Rocky Hollow and TRRR with a family ride, and replace Blue Lagoon, and possibly the Big Brother house with a big coaster. I agree with some posts above that a Main Event complex should be a Stage 2 development. -
Universal bought Dreamworks very recently. I believe Universal will make Dreamworks a license exclusive to their theme parks, like what Disney has done with Star Wars and Marvel. It is unlikely Universal will license Dreamworks to a park competing with its own park in Singapore.

Generally, Sonic is dead, but the Boom cartoon is thriving in Australia and the UK. Sega will continue to make Sonic games as long as the company still exists, in fact they will release two games this year - both I have already preordered. A movie is even coming out in 2018 (that will most likely be shit, given it's a video game movie) @omega237 Dreamworld will probably soon lose the Dreamworks license to Universal, perhaps there might be a remote possibility for a Sega retheme of the area. I doubt it, though.

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
XxMrYoshixX replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I believe it is more likely that DW ditches the gold rush theme altogether and rethemes the area to something new. It allows the following to happen: It allows DW to gain new visitors by capitalising on something that is new; ie: a new themed area It puts the park on good terms with the victims' families by removing the area that caused the deaths of their loved ones. It also allows DW to clean up that specific section of the park that has needed an update since Eureka closed in 2005. The Eureka Mountain ride is iconic my ass. It's about time Dreamworld should get rid of the ride, get rid of the Gold Rush theme and move as far away from the accident as possible. -
Themed Areas you'd like to see in our Parks?
XxMrYoshixX replied to ThemeTendo's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Here's a couple: Area themed to 1960s American culture. Coaster: Launched coaster themed to Mustangs and 1960s era racing with a retro gas station as its queue, and a 1960s car garage as the station. Flats: Probably some classic flats such as a Scrambler, Troika, given themes reminiscent of a 1960s era fairground. General Theming: Old buildings with WWII era posters. Food Area: 1960's KFC-inspired restaurant, selling fried chicken and chips. Area themed to Sega videogames. Coaster: Mack Launched Megacoaster (similar to Blue Fire) themed to Sonic Adventure. Ride is themed to the final boss fight of the game in the queue and onride, with the coaster manoeuvring around the destroyed Station Square depicted in the final boss. I could see a splashdown element added in this as well. Reference: Dark Ride: Outrun-themed ride similar to Test Track at Epcot. Ride is themed to the original arcade game, and the ride vehicles are modelled after Testarossas like in the game. Ride has a short indoor section, and a longer Test Track-style outdoor section with a fast speed. Dark Ride #2: Shenmue- themed dark ride similar to the Disney trackless dark rides at numerous Disney parks, possibly themed to the first game. Flats: Insert random rides themed to Sonic characters and other Sega franchises here. A dodgem cars ride themed to the Twinkle Park level from Sonic Adventure wouldn't be bad. Food Area: A restaurant inside a MegaDrive replica building. -
Arkham Asylum VR down for maintenance

I'm pretty sure those handles and the buttons were there when MW first bought the trains in 2012. I haven't been to MW for years, so I can't remember exactly, but I do vividly recall those handles being there. -

A Rainbow ride at Liseberg theme park in Sweden collapsed in 2008, injuring 30 people - search up Liseberg ride collapse and you'll hear all about it. -
This thread is convincing me to buy Planet Coaster. The stuff people put on here is much better than anything I've built in RCT3, and I've played that game for years.

Billions? Only household name parks such as Disney or Universal would make that. Sonic and Sega in general, is on the edge of death here in Australia, and would be extremely costly for Sega to put a park there, let alone get a profit from it. If you follow iconic franchises such as Sonic, . It's already been done before here and it blew up in Sega's face. They only spent two years managing the park before they managed to get off the sinking ship, losing millions in the process. Segaworld, and other factors, were key to Sega's decision to stop production of game consoles, and downsizing its arcade business. The only way Sega would ever get its characters in a theme park would be through a partnership with Ardent or VRTP (a la Alton Towers with Sonic Spinball), and given Universal has just bought Dreamworks, Sega could partner with Dreamworld to retheme the family area to its properties. But, considering Sega does not operate in Australia anymore and its franchises are dying out here, it would be smarter to do such a thing in the US or the UK, the two countries where Sonic is remotely popular.

Doomsday Destroyer - reviews and feedback
XxMrYoshixX replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yes, I forgot about that one. Rampage can't do some of the twists Wipeout can, however. It feels more like a Top Spin than a Waikiki Wave Super Flip IMO. -
Doomsday Destroyer - reviews and feedback
XxMrYoshixX replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If you have ridden both ride types, then you'll know that the Vekoma Waikiki Wave is arguably a better ride than the Huss model. Vekoma didn't copy the Top Spin with its own version, but it enhanced the ride experience, with a third degree of movement in the form of an extra rotating arm that allows for more manoeuvres (such as twisting) than the regular Top Spin. While Vekoma didn't invent the Top Spin, it did invent a better version of a popular ride (with the famous loud roar), which is now a ride unique to Dreamworld and another park in Mexico. Have you seen a Huss Top Spin do this? -
Favourite 10 coasters you rode in 2016
XxMrYoshixX replied to pin142's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You found Hair Raiser rough? I didn't find it that rough, however that might be because that's the only B&M I've ridden. The track rattled a little bit though! Was that 10 the only coasters you rode overseas, because I'm surprised to see Dragon make the list. I had a giant bruise on my face after the side of my face hit the OTSR during the helix. For those who haven't done Dragon, think Cyclone with the old trains but heaps worse. -
This looks like fun, but it is quite costly. This will do well with the tourists going to the Gold Coast.

Yeah, I went to the park a couple of months ago. Sega also have Joypolis in Tokyo as well. Apparently both are doing quite well as opposed to the theme parks Sega tried to run in London and Sydney. Probably because Sega in Dubai is actually a Sonic theme park and Joypolis is actually an arcade fed steroids, unlike the other two which were arcades pretending to be theme parks...
-
Now, I must admit that game looks promising, but: Sega tried their hand at theme parks in the mid 90's, and both of their big parks in London and Sydney flopped so hard that both of them died by 2000, losing millions of dollars for Sega in the process. While it would be awesome if there was a remote possibility it would happen, Sega's theme park experiment was a failure and I seriously doubt they would try it again.

Favourite 10 coasters you rode in 2016
XxMrYoshixX replied to pin142's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Wild Mouse at LPS. I haven't done much this year. -
"Thrills" Reverchon Spinning Mouse coasters are rough, boring, uninspired and give you a lot of nausea because of the constant spinning, and are genuinely bad rides, worse than pre-2015 Cyclone or any SLC that isn't Arkham. Aussie World should have looked at a Maurer spinner, a Mack mouse, or anything else that isn't a crappy off the shelf coaster that belongs in the Easter Show. I can agree that it can be a capacity boost, but so is anything else.
-
Oh, they've demolished the ride already. That was fast. Sad to see a rare species get the axe. Would LPS have been able to buy the trains or track for parts on their Wild Mouse, an identical model, or was the track gauge on the Aussie World one different to theirs?

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
XxMrYoshixX replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Giant Drop and Buzzsaw IMO will open last, GD because TRRR can be seen with a good eye from the top, and Buzzsaw because it is within close proximity to TRRR. Ardent have started opening the thrill rides furthest away from TRRR (ie Ocean Parade) and should progressively reopen the other rides closer to TRRR. At the moment DW is looking to stay away from the Gold Rush section as much as possible.
