Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
XxMrYoshixX replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I see the park is making baby steps towards opening the thrill rides, for the reasons that the bigger rides might be more dangerous. Despite this, DW is making great progress in this final phase of reopening the park, and hopefully they will have all the thrill rides ready for the high visitor intake after New Years. I'm thinking TOT or GD will open last, if Ardent are considering reopening the rides based on size. Buzzsaw opening last is logical however, considering its close proximity to TRRR. -
Goliath - Adventure World’s new Intamin Gyro Swing

A Super Loop =/= roller coaster. If AW built one of those, I would be required to burn the park to the ground. -
Goliath - Adventure World’s new Intamin Gyro Swing
XxMrYoshixX replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
While this is sad news, AW has really turned itself around under Mark's leadership from a sub-par run down fairground to a theme park comparable with the GC parks in quality and service, and I hope he remains in the theme park industry as he is an example of an excellent park manager who brings new ideas to the table; to recap he has done the following: Installed an excellent attraction in the form of Kahuna Falls in 2011 Given the kids area the update it needed with Dragon's Kingdom in 2012 Finally given Adventure World the coaster it needed for many years with Abyss in 2013 Changed the park's image with the refurbishment of the Go-Karts, Rampage and Power Surge for 2014 Broke records and gave the park a ride it needed with the installation of Kraken in 2015 Updated the park once again for the better with the refurbishment of Water Mountain and its slides in 2016 Will raise the park to new heights with MI3 in 2017 And he has not only done this; but he has also listened to his customers and improved the park further with the excellent customer service of the current park, winning an award just days before his departure. Mark, I wish good luck to you and your family in your future endeavours. -
Hearthstone, Flappy Golf, Sonic Dash, Pokemon Go, Tuber simulation and many different game emulators.

I've heard that the flame effects were removed when the volcano stopped working in ~2008, or it got decommissioned for safety reasons in the mid 00's. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

No. Just no. If you have looked for at least half a second on the press release photos, you'll see no sign of Pikachu. Nintendo is now mostly focused on Mario, Zelda and other smaller franchises and Pokemon is now mostly independent from Nintendo. The games are developed independently from Nintendo, and all marketing decisions are made by the Pokemon Company and not Nintendo itself. If Pokemon was included in the Nintendo Land, the Pokemon Company would be involved in the development process, and the company is not mentioned in the press release. I love the Power Glove. It's so bad...

DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
XxMrYoshixX replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^ I haven't been to MW in over a year, but I'd seriously suggest MW upgrade what is arguably its most popular ride, which is now just over 14 years old. On my visit, much of the Scooby theming, while it has aged quite well in comparison to theming elements at DW, is showing signs of age and the styrofoam interiors of the castle is in relatively rough shape. Perhaps the ride could be re-themed to the original cartoon instead of the forgettable 2002 film with Rowan Atkinson as the villain. And god help me, please update the queue video or remove it full stop. It's a lot better if a shitty behind the scenes video is gone than it is that same video played on continuous loop while you wait for over an hour (which becomes unbearable after the third time the video plays. -
Revised Dreamworld Map - no Rocky Hollow Log Ride
XxMrYoshixX replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Although this is supposedly a DW staff member, I'm taking this with a grain of salt until DW makes an announcement regarding Rocky Hollow. -
That looks like an F-Zero or Mario Kart ride, the shape of the car tells me its the Blue Falcon from F-Zero.
-
Fantastic news that SW intends to replace Vikings with a new attraction in the near future, but announcing it yesterday was a case of poor timing and a bad decision on VRTP's part.

Revised Dreamworld Map - no Rocky Hollow Log Ride
XxMrYoshixX replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hmm, so DW might be scrapping the "Town of Gold Rush" and "Rocky Hollow" areas now, and integrating them together. With the Big Brother House off the map, they could possibly add a massive ride to replace it and TRRR. Also, it will be a pain in the ass to get to Giant Drop now because of TRRR's immediate area being blocked off. It may possibly harm its already low ridership. -
Well, I'm sure everyone saw this coming, as soon as the ride was announced to be closed for maintenance indefinitely it was gone. We're now staring down the barrel of four rides/attractions at SW closing without a replacement, and since after Corkscrew closed SW has been ripe for something new. If Vikings doesn't get replaced, then it is an extremely poor move on VRTP's part to remove one of the few rides left in the park. I think VRTP as a whole should be looking at actually closing rides with some warning in the near future instead of unceremoniously shutting them for maintenance (when in reality they are shutting them for good) while we hope they will get reopened. This has happened with three rides now and the strategy is getting tired really fast. If they've been able to close a Batman simulator with prior warning, then surely they could do it to any ride at their other parks?

No, the air section after the swiping floors and before the downwards ramp. You know, the vents on the floor. -
Luna Park Sydney 'Gateway' Re-Installed
XxMrYoshixX replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
@Jobe I have one of Hair Raiser, here (although it is crap and I have no idea how to rotate it to the correct position) Also, Tango in the "Wild" cycle is actually a lot better than the original version, it feels a lot faster and a lot smoother to me than the old one, despite its operational flaws. Sorry I got Mystery Manor's name mixed up with a Hong Kong Disneyland ride with a similar name. -
Luna Park Sydney 'Gateway' Re-Installed
XxMrYoshixX replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Having just been to LPS today I thought I would update on the state of the park as of today, on this thread instead of bumping a dead one. There were notable things in the park such as: Hair Raiser has been repainted from white into an ugly blue colour, that looks like an eyesore compared to the rest of the park. This might have been done to camouflage the drop tower with the water for the neighbours, but I doubt this is the case and it looks hideous as it is now. Ranger was closed, however from what I saw it appears the ride might be closed for good as I noticed the restraints removed sitting on the ride platform. I am sad that this ride is gone, however I hope LPS will install something that is just as good in its place. The restored "Welcome" sign looks great, and it will look better with the lights on. LPS has a Power Surge for the holidays - great ride but the operations were laughably slow, I waited over an hour for a ride that should have taken ~15 mins. When will LPS fix the entrance walkway inside Coney Island (with the moving platforms and the wind blowing up on you), since it's been that way for years and it appears they have yet to fix it. It also appears that Mystic Manor Mansion is back for the holidays, I am unsure whether it has been there the whole year since the last time I went to LPS was this time last year. The new Tango Train's cycle gimmick is great in theory but in practice it is awful, it switches cycle every time (ie Mild, Wild, then Mild again) unlike other rides I have been one with the 2 cycle gimmick (Pandamonium), and it basically doubles your wait time for a ride that is extremely popular. There isn't 2 queue lines either for each cycle (only 1 queue line) which makes it even more of a pain in terms of operations. -
Parks in decline? Parks flourishing?
XxMrYoshixX replied to SunshineTom's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If you are making what are essentially idle predictions about SW and DW declining, then you're a fool. Dreamworld hasn't even opened in full yet and your idle speculation is made too early, let alone have a thread dedicated to it. Please, reserve your idle speculation until DW has actually opened in full. -
Dreamworld Lego Store construction
XxMrYoshixX replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've built a Lego Dreamworld Tower before - if they got a professional builder to build a giant model of it and the surrounding area it would be quite cool. Perhaps they should make an exclusive Architecture-style set of the Dreamworld Tower. Dreamworld made a deal with Lego long before the accident happened. The store itself was announced long before that. -

I'm surprised they wouldn't check pockets heavily like MW. To my knowledge, AW is the only theme park in Australia which now allows GoPros on rides. -
DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
XxMrYoshixX replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Wasn't DW owned by a Singaporean company at the time TOT and GD was installed, before Ardent (then Macquarie) bought it? I doubt that company would build enormous rides long after those were installed either, unless they were making money hand over fist. Combined the Dreamworld Tower and its two rides cost $28 million (over $45 million in today's money) and no theme park in Australia has ever been able to top that cost, not with Superman or possibly even the Mack hyper this thread is dedicated to. If Macquarie never bought the park, the situation would remain roughly the same, give or take a couple of rides. $28 million was an exorbitant investment for the theme park industry at the time (considering that B&M coasters such as Hulk or Raptor cost between $12-18m) and I doubt that company would be able to buy another ride for Dreamworld again for a long time. Now, it would be cool to see what happens overall, but I doubt it would be completely different to what happened today. -
Sanad and White Water "sports water park"

This waterpark actually looks pretty good. Although, like the Sydney's Wonderland proposal, I believe that this park will end up in development hell. -

The restored sign looks great! I'm heading to LPS this week so I'll have to see what it looks like in real life! -
Well, that's disappointing that Aussie World are getting rid of a historic coaster and replacing it with a steaming pile of shit from Pinfari. They should have used the space to put in something better than an off-the-shelf steel wild mouse (which is literally anything else).

Future Attractions in Australia
XxMrYoshixX replied to Intimidator305.'s topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well given, construction and import costs for rides are significantly higher here than in some other place like America. I'd love to see a B&M or an RMC at Dreamworld too like most other people but in the end it's extremely costly to build one of those. -
Future Attractions in Australia
XxMrYoshixX replied to Intimidator305.'s topic in Theme Park Discussion
MW: I can't see them installing a new ride for at least two years after the hyper opens, so I don't know about this one. DW: Unlike MW this park really needs something new, having not installed a single ride for three years since Tail Spin opened in 2013. I'd love to see a Mack Watercoaster similar to Storm replace Eureka and TRRR, or go bigger and put in a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster in the site and possibly expand to the Blue Lagoon site. I can't see DW doing something massive as most of us hope, given Ardent have spent plenty of cap cleaning up the park for the Commonwealth Games. I could see either that or a refurb of the Dreamworld Tower rides, given that they are DW's flagship attractions and they'll need to be looking good for the Commonwealth Games. WWW: Build a proper AquaLoop or introduce back mats on Wedgie. Either that or build a Boomerango. AW: After MI3 gets built, I think it's time for AW to give Inferno the boot and replace it with a Larson drop tower. Those are much more terrifying than Intamin ones, and I've been on both types. LPS: This park needs to speed up the replacement of the older Huss rides, and build a ride in the spot where Flying Saucer used to occupy. The management should be taking notes when they hire rides for the holidays (such as Freak Out), as they would work out great as permanent rides. Also, build an El Loco. I've said this many times. SW: Install a ride in the area Corkscrew used to occupy and I'm happy. -
I'm fairly certain after what happened at Alton Towers every little e-stop and operation procedure was monitored closely by British media.
