  1. Could be likely, but I also feel like it may be a custom house. Looking at all the exteriors in The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, there are clearly no marble columns at the front of the house. This makes me think it may not be Woman in Black, especially after seeing all there other faithful recreations of film scenes. They are generally pretty accurate with these things. In saying that, this point may not hold much weight. You could very well be on the money!
  2. I've tried my best to find examples of concept art in the Australia parks, and I'll share most of what I've found. I find it really interesting to see concept art, not only to see what could have been but to also improve my own skills when it comes to sketching. Superman Escape Earthquake (Sketches and Manufacture)Superman Escape Steampipes (Sketches and Manufacture)Superman Escape Cars (Sketches and Manufacture)Cyclone Exterior, Queue line and Boarding (Sketches)There's plenty more out there, such as a pretty extensive concept map of Movie World. I'll add more once I find more!
  3. One second we're talking about pizza... next thing you know you're judging your own life choices thanks to an image that's deeper than Chicago Deep Dish But I do agree. Pizza is cheap and easy in the best possible way, not to mention there's a real possibility for a tie-in. It would just depend on available locations, cost, and the fact that they already have a pizza place in the park. I'm probably missing some criteria but that's all I can think of at the moment
  4. I find it interesting how Dora the Explorer and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are used in many of the promotional materials for this new themed area, such as e-mails and Facebook posts, yet we haven't seen anything to suggest that they'll be getting their own themed rides. If wonder if they'll be relegated to shops or shows? I mean, I wouldn't be too upset if I they had a Ninja Turtle pizza joint...
  5. The return of Tracy Grimshaw's hard-hitting theme park journalism?
  6. Wouldn't be too bad if it was temporary, but would it bring the tally for motorsport themed areas up to 3? Or are we now counting the Model-T's as motorsport? Under the Cyclone wouldn't be terrible, but if it is out in the open it might look a bit bad. If they just plonk down the cars on a concrete slab in the middle of the Cyclone's footprint with chain link keeping people in, then it would be pretty ugly. They either need to try and themed it up a bit if they are having in outside, or build a new shed or use the Redline building. The Cyclone: 1/3 Painful, 1/3 Broken, 1/3 Proposal Photographer As many people here can see from some of my other posts, I love when rides are extensively themed. I will be going against my own grain here, but Dreamworld could do a basic retheme on the Cyclone in a month if they get their act together. The biggest changes would be getting the rumoured ride vehicle installed, removing some of the themed pieces on the walls of the inside queue as well as removal of the turbine, then just adding some new themed pieces around the queue line. While it wouldn't be ideal, and I wouldn't be happy with it, it would at least make more sense then the current offerings as well being achievable within the time period allocated. ToT's rehab took a little less then a month, going from the 18th of August to around the 17th of September. That's 30 Days. Cyclone is scheduled to go down for 34 days. I would say it's achievable. Would I be satisfied? Probably not, but do remember that I always have my head in the clouds thinking of how to make every ride the closest to a perfect 10 in every facet.
  7. Well it looks like we're getting two rides definitely themed to Spongebob. Either a demolition derby or tea cup ride with Jellyfish styled vehicles, as well as a Rockin' Tug themed around a bus. This is shaping up to be pretty good. Even though I'm not in the target demographic, I know that when I go to Sea World once the new additions are opened I will definitely be riding a couple of them.
  8. Every time I've been to the Dockside Tavern, the view from the balcony always makes me feel like I'm on holidays. What better way to celebrate feeling like you're on a tropical vacation then with a beer and fish 'n' chips? If they took that away, I think I'll be pretty saddened. I don't drink alcohol anywhere else in any theme park except for the Dockside for that reason. A cheap 'n' nasty Krusty Krab could not and would not trump the serenity of the balcony at the tavern. In saying that, I'm not opposed to them opening a Krusty Krab. If they executed it in a similar fashion to Krusty Burger at Universal Studios then I'll be very happy. I just don't think that getting rid of one of the only places to buy alcohol in the park (could it be the only one?) that has a killer view of the surrounds for a grease trap is a good idea. I agree with Joz and Pushbutton in the sense that the food offerings need to be improved and it could do with a rehabilitation, however. While the balconies are great, the interior is a little.... dated...
  9. I really hope they don't theme it to the Krusty Krab. How would I be able to get a beer at a kids restaurant?!
  10. From my understanding, it was only the trains that received a makeover in the Arkham Asylum transition. If this is the case, then surely the block system would still be somewhat operational. Kumbak does offer eddy current brakes replacements and new control systems, but I am unsure whether that covers a blocking system as well. As for what I would do with $9,000,000, I would probably theme up either Arkham Asylum or Green Lantern some more. Bring them up to the standard of some of VRTP's other rides, with somewhat immersive queue lines that aren't just a pathway through an open warehouse. I wonder what the ride experience of Arkham Asylum would be like if they invested in putting a mixture of real and fake trees and landscaping features in the ride envelope. I think it would add it the experience if you rush past trees, creeks and rocks. If I had my $9,000,000 I would definitely look at maybe adding that to the ride experience. As for the other parks... SW: Would saving the money be allowed in this hypothetical scenario? If so, I would love to see Sea World put the money away and wait until it grows a bit more, then they can build a decent thrilling coaster to fill the void that the Sea Screw left. DW: I would definitely look at putting it towards a ride refurbishment or fixes and details around the park. I wonder how much it would cost for Dreamworld to look at getting an almost RMC-esque conversion of the Cyclone, where they utilise the same footprint and support system, but alter the track in order to make it a better overall experience. WnW: I would look at park wide theming. While Wet 'n' Wild isn't horrible with theming, I would like to see them truly move away from the concrete jungle look. Maybe they could take inspiration from those beach party movies from the 1960's and make the park look like you've stepped into one. It would be a pretty simple theme that would be very visually appealing while not too hard to implement. WWW: Probably more slides or attractions. This park is pretty lacking, and while I would like to see theming (notice a trend?), I just think that should be the parks top priority.
  11. Anyone got any ideas when we should be hearing any offical announcements? Isn't it normally early August?
  12. I wonder if MW will overhaul their food and beverage offerings shortly. It's pretty bad if you can't just get a simple drink refill at a place that isn't one of the major food outlets.
  13. Photo from The Theme Park Social Network. Looks like they might be trying to widen up the available space towards the entry, making it a little less crowded.
  14. I think he meant having the S&S 4th Dimension trains on the S&S Air Powered Coaster, which would be in an L configuration akin to the Tower of Terror
  15. I ws using the $10,000,000 as an example of how this update wouldn't cost the same as a major addition to the park (e.g Justice League). I can see how you became a little confused. Bad comprehension on my part? I wonder how much some of the work by Sculpt Studios costs the park. I would love to see them get the studio to fabricate a main facade and some set pieces, especially after seeing some of their work on Justice League and Tokyo Disneysea. Maybe they could make the facade of the queue and the main entry hall of the ride appear in a similar vain to Grand Central Station or Chicago's Union Station. Surely some good facades and maybe one or two interior sets shouldn't cost too much, but would $10,000 cut it? I think this is going to be one of the very few times that you and I agree with each other. I would love to see each ride be given some individual attention every now and again. I wouldn't be expecting a grandiose improvement, but for them to look at what could benefit the experience with newer technologies and processes.
  16. I love that. Fright Nights is months away, and they're already terrifying guests. Seeing as how you've had a quick look at the maze in the Show Stage, do you have any guesses as to what it could be?
  17. Let's say they did add some exterior facades, themed the queue line with some more detail, added some minor effects in the dark ride, and themed the launch track, what would be the price range? Surely it wouldn't be $10,000,000 like JL, but I honestly have no clue at how much it would cost them. If they were to make any changes, my major gripes are definitely the queue line, the launch track and the exteriors. If they could fix those up to the standards of some of their latest investments, then I'll be a very happy camper.
  18. This is pretty similar to why I suggested the idea. The Storm blew me out of the water with it's immersion. It felt like a cyclone had torn throw the park. Even Justice League makes me feel immersed in the world. Then I look at Superman and just see potential for something greater in regards to theming. They could make it so much better, however that may cost them some money which they may not be prepared to fork out, especially on just a refurb on a ride that isn't really that old. A refurb on SE would be greta because it can update the ride into the current DCCU, without having them add another bloody DC ride. Only DC additions that I wouldn't be too angry about would be a simple flat in the DC corner to soak up more people, or a madhouse over near Arkham. What would be the likelihood of this being maintained though? I'd be pretty annoyed if it went the same way as the other smoke effects
  19. As much as I love walk-ons, nothing feels better than a park that feels alive.
  20. After seeing the new trailer for Batman Vs Superman, I wonder if MW will try to cash in with it somehow. They already have posters strewn across the park, why not up the ante? I feel like this may be a great time to give SE a bit more extra detailing. I would love to see them make the station and queue look more like a subway then a beige box, as well as the exteriors to be given some proper theming rather than a soundstage. Maybe add some fake trees in the helix portion and retheme it around Centennial Park. I know that I find rides much more exciting when you whiz by objects rather than fly high in the air. The cherry on top for me would be if they themed the launch track. Imagine what it would be like if we had something akin to Universal's Earthquake scene happen right before rocketing up the top hat. Once again, this is more on the dreaming side. I highly doubt MW can justify the expense to add detail to a ride that isn't even that old or in bad shape. It's just me wanting to see Superman become a 10. Anyone else think they're going to try and tie in the film with something at the parks?
  21. I couldn't agree more. On the plus side, at least the vehicles aren't covered in chewing gum advertisements... Yes and No. If it has no theme to be tarnished, then I'm fine with it, but at the same time they can somehow even mess that up. Take this as an example. The high-vis colours with the earthy tones of the station and track? Just perfect. They blend together as much as water and oil. In Dreamworld's case, they've at least tried to theme their rides, and if the Tower of Terror was suddenly sporting a new wrap promoting 5 Gum, I'd be a little ticked off.
  22. Yeah. It really is just a concrete slab. I believe they normally have some shipping containers on it, but I could be wrong.
