  1. I have had an OP stay in character and it definitely makes the experience. After doing the average spiel of "Heads back, hold on tight, and welcome to the Asylum" they let a laugh that could only be described as the laugh from the end of Nicki Minaj's Anaconda. At that point, everyone on-board was questioning the OP's sanity. Another good experience was an OP on the Wipeout. Not only did he do the normal safety spiel, but he mixed in a lot of Californian and Surfing lingo. You could tell he loved his job.
  2. This may be a stupid question, but with this new show featuring sponsorship quite closely, would we be more likely to see sponsorships more prominently on other rides and attractions? If it's done right, I don't mind it at all. For example, Superman Escape's subway station having an ad for Coca-Cola wouldn't really bug me, as it almost feels a bit natural given the context. But having the trains wrapped in a vinyl advert is something else.
  3. I'm so sorry to hear that Pazzap. I've had one medical misdiagnosis in my life, and it isn't fun at all. Being told that I have cancer, only for it to not be true in the slightest really put me out of sorts, and that didn't leave me with continuous problems like you. But enough about me! With the operation, I would check with another professional but I wouldn't think that your Osteo is being reluctant because it's his personality. Any surgery is major surgery, and there is a chance that you can become worse off from it (Not to scare you or anything). But back to the topic. You said that the tape has personal footage on it so you wouldn't be able to get a fellow user to do it for you, yes? If so, I would recommend putting that tape in clear tupperware with a masking tape label that states 'Eureka Mountain POV'. Put it somewhere you can see it at least once a day. What this will do is keep it at a fore-front in your mind rather than completely forget about it. This way, when you are in a much better state you'll have this tape not only in the fore-front of your memory, but also in an easily accessible place that won't leave you searching through boxes and bags. Hope you feel better soon and all the best.
  4. I've never been to the Dockside. Is it looking a bit shabby? If anything I hope they deal with whats on the ground floor. From memory, wasn't it just a big open arcade with hardly games?
  5. I would really love to hear about some of the other experiences with FOF which I couldn't partake in. Anyone here have a decent enough knowledge of confidentiality agreements to help clarify whether we can explicitly state some of the surveys and discussions?
  6. Well this sucks. I really enjoyed this initiative as it actually made me feel like I was helping mould the parks along with everyone else. I remember doing the survey regarding a new nighttime event, and low and behold, Carnivale was born a couple of weeks latter. I really made all the guests that had signed up feel important and as if their input was valued. I may be wrong, but I believe they said that this was a limited competition as they gave out prizes. VRTP, if you're listening, please bring this back in some form. Whether it's regular surveys or a park rep, it was a really wonderful experience.
  7. I wasn't hoping you were wrong, I was just wondering about how this information came across. I hadn't heard anything from the press releases about the actual specifics of this coaster other than the initial speculation a couple of months back.
  8. Same here. One of my favourite myths and legends of all time. As for the coaster, I believe you're thinking of the Wild Wave / Thrillseeker. It was a Galaxi model and was located I believe where Ray Reef is currently. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  9. Just had a look at the video of the model provided on the Zamperla website and I gotta say, that looks rough. Some of those transitions look really quite abrupt and jerk the riders around. The review of Dragon Express doesn't bode too well for it either. It's almost as if this model is right in-between a Wacky Worm and a Roller Skater. For a "multi-million dollar precinct", this is pretty disappointing. Let me just end this with a quick reminder to myself and others; enthusiasts aren't the target market. While we may not like the addition, the target audience may eat it up. I should have probably reserved judgement until I actually hear some kids speak about the ride. Edit: Not trying to discredit your journalistic integrity, Richard, but what are the source/s that say that this new 'mini coaster' will be a Zamperla Family Gravity Coaster? I haven't heard anything other than our idle speculation and I'm honestly curious as to whether this has been official confirmed in some way
  10. I know, not exactly my most convincing point, but there's a method to my madness... Not only does the Bermuda Triangle focus on a story that is inherently oceanic in subject matter, but can get away with some 'detached' thematic elements as it's core relates back to the park's theme. The Aliens in the Bermuda Triangle, IMHO, work because one of the main plot points in the ride (disappearance of ships and planes) as well as the location have deep ties with the same theme that Sea World tries to portray in all it's rides. Going back to the Dr. Who example, even with an aquatic antagonist, it wouldn't work as the franchise doesn't have these deep ties back to the aquatic theme for it to work in an park like Sea World. I may be the only one here that feels that way, but honestly that doesn't bug me. This is just my opinion on why Bermuda got away with some more absurd elements compared to concept of a Dr. Who ride being brought to Sea World.
  11. I found an image of the supposed lineup for Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights 25 and I have to say, it's pretty interesting. Seeing as how there aren't any major horror film releases this year, it makes me wonder what we'll have this year at our own Fright Nights.
  12. I get what you're saying now. I never really took that into consideration when I was dreaming about what could be there, so I didn't even realise that this could be an actual issue. As for flat rides, I don't really care either. All I ask is that whatever creative team is behind it (In-House, Atomiq, Sanderson, etc.) can make it a proper themed experience, similar to the Wipeout instead of some generic carnival crap. One look at the Wipeout and you instantly know the theme and the story. This is probably what would be the deciding factor in whether I like this potential new addition or not. Honestly, I'm glad these types of things arise in this thread. I wouldn't know about the problems that the park has with it's land otherwise. Well, back to the drawing board, eh?
  13. I have no idea of any of Sea World's geological problems. These are all just ideas at the moment.
  14. I get what you're saying. In a park with predominantly low lying buildings, it would be quite odd to see a plain white shed that's 20 metres or so tall sticking out like a sore thumb, but there are options. They could easily theme a show building and make it fit into it's surroundings, or even go a step further and make most of the show building underground, as this would keep consistency with the rest of the park and would be much more approachable when it comes to theming. Care to give some examples?
  15. Bermuda Triangle fits the aquatic theme as it is inherently an oceanic myth. The legend of the Bermuda Triangle originated from the disappearance not only planes but ships as well. Not to mention the fact that the Bermuda Triangle is an area predominantly occupied by ocean. This works at Sea World as it has the legend has its roots with the ocean. The same can be said about Vikings Revenge. Vikings are notorious not only for warfare and pillaging, but also for their naval exploration. They have roots tied directly to the ocean. Dr Who doesn't have any connection to the ocean what so ever. Sure, one episode may feature an aquatic antagonist but that is not enough to link the two together; it doesn't have those oceanic roots that the legend of the Bermuda Triangle and Vikings have. Without those roots, it feels half-assed and a mess.
  16. Just been re-watching the announcement trailer today, and I am starting to really like the art style. It reminds me of a mix between the Sims 4 and Pixar Animation, which can only mean good things. Really, the only thing that will make or break this game for me is realism. One thing that I hated in RCT was how some of the rides and stalls seemed very niche. I don't mind a ride being themed, but at least let the ride's theme be customisable.
  17. Depends on whether you are wanting a realistic answer, or just a blue sky concept Blue Sky: I would love to see an indoor coaster reminiscent of Space Mountain themed around submarines and deep ocean exploration. Something that is thrilling for enthusiasts and thrill seekers, while still being tame enough for family. They could then make that corner of the park themed around marine science fiction (is that the right wording for this?), as Jet Rescue could easily blend in to that theme. Realistic: Sea World is severely lacking in flat rides, so viewing this in a realistic sense I hope that they use that space to add maybe one or two decent flat rides that can help flesh out a day at Sea World. Maybe a Zamperla Regetta or Mack Sea Storm? I don't think this would work. Just because it has an aquatic antagonist doesn't mean that it fits with Sea World's on thematic style. Franchises such as the The Avengers at Disneyland's Tomorrowland work because at their core, they share a solid foundation with the park's/themed area's own aesthetic. Think about it for a second. Iron Man is basically a marvel in engineering, helicarriers that can go invisible and alien invasions are inherently science fiction based, therefore they work in a science fiction themed area. Dr Who is, at it's core, Science Fiction / Science Fantasy. Does this match with Sea World's aquatic theme? Not really.
  18. Not sure if this is where I should be posting this, but I'll change if not appropriate. I recently found some drawings of the recent refurbishment for the Wipeout on the Atomiq website. I found them quite interesting and thought I'd share them here.
  19. Looks much better than RCT World originally looked, yet they've started to pick up the quality on that. Either way I'm going to buy both. you can never have too many Coaster Tycoons! I'm gonna regret saying that, aren't I?
  20. Ahh I see what you're getting at. I thought you just meant for the attraction to be using the pre-existing Cyclone building, rather than having an external building off to the side. Just putting two and two together, with the announcement about the Peter Brock cars and a new motorsport attraction. It is a very logical move for this new attraction be an exhibit rather than a new attraction. Once again though, I could be wrong. I am only human.
  21. From what I've seen, it's just been a minor extension. TBH that whole Rivertown section is a mess. According to the park map, it's all Wiggles World, including MDMC and Billabong. I just hope they end up clearing up that whole section of the park rather than having it be their dumping ground for rides.
  22. There's no way Dreamworld could make an elaborate exhibit in the pre-exsisting Cyclone queue with the current infrastructure. Unless the reverse the queue lines once again, you've got only a small space where the turbine is for major items (I.e cars), and then little photos and posters around the sides on each walls (maybe some videos if Dreamworld decides to go the whole hog). There's no way someone could enter that without riding, let alone complete all the necessary works within a couple of weeks. I understand the idea of DW keeping two V8 attractions in the same area, but I just don't think it will logistically happen. The themed area formerly known as Rivertown is looking to be a prime candidate for this new addition. If anything does get changed or added on the Cyclone, my money is on DW doing something very gimmicky, such as turning the cars backwards rather than making any valuable contributions to the ride.
  23. Not as bad I was originally thinking, but nether the less still an annoying news piece. Let me just break it down... Ride NamesIs it really that hard to go to the Sea World website and see what the name of the Storm Coaster is? I'm not even a journalist and I can still do it. I can even do it on my phone during the middle of a lecture. For hell's sake, even my 6 year old niece can do it. Everyday BreakdownsI don't mind them reporting on Buzzsaw or Green Lantern, the Octopus or even the Skyway, as they are all relatively serious issues. What does annoy me, however, is how they report on an average emergency evacuation. The Storm Coaster breaking down and being evacuated is actually ADVERTISED IN THE QUEUE! This isn't something that only enthusiasts now about, it's on the bloody warning signs!Reaching for CommentThroughout the report, I was thinking that this was going to be quite biased, but unlike the other points I'm actually quite happy that they reached each park for comment. This actually shows that they've tried to get in contact, and haven't just broadcast a piece of anti-theme park propaganda. Front-Page NewsHonestly, how is this major news? While I was out with friends this afternoon, every time I saw an ad for the 6 o'clock news they were just advertising this one piece. They weren't advertising about the bus and train collision the other day, or how the victims of the Ravenshoe fire are coping, or even how our local hospitals are doing. Any of that news would be much better than this piece. Obviously it's been a slow Tuesday for the channel 7 crew...
  24. Not sure if this is correct, but I beleive 7 News is having a story on Movie World tonight. I'm out and a TV is currently playing an advert for the news tonight, which contains nothing on footage of the rides at the park, along with a shot of GL overlayed with some report papers.
  25. Not it to fill you with false hopes, but just because they aren't doing any big Motorsport based coaster doesn't mean it isn't going to happen at all. My dream would be for a mega lite out on the island with trains styled in a similar fashion to the 1950's Chevy Bel Air's on Xcelerator or the cars on Rita at Alton Towers. However, that may be a bit too stylised for Dreamworld realistic Motorsport section.
