  1. Couldn't agree more AlexB! As much as I hate MDMC, I'd find it absolutely stupid if they removed it. It still draws crowds and sells some merchandising, so I think that's a win in Dreamworld's book. They probably aren't out to please enthusiasts, but rather the general public (and the GP eat up that motorbike gimmick). Once the ride loses those crowds, becomes a maintenance issue, or ends up losing the park money, I say get rid of it. But right now, it has a purpose and it serves that purpose.
  2. No offence Pushbutton, but I feel like that level of maturity is what's expected here on the forums and it shouldn't really be congratulated. But given Andrewh's track record, I think it's a good sign of improvement.
  3. I guess it's probably just me having higher expectations for family coasters, since I've been spoiled for choice with those types of rides throughout my childhood, but I gotta say, MDMC is definitely a bad coaster. Let me compare it to the closest comparison: Jet Resuce. Jet Rescue has a great layout. It's forceful, it's twisty, and doesn't feel repetitive. All while staying at an appropriate level for families. MDMC, while being at a family level, is bland as beige. Not really any forces, no real airtime. To me, it feels like a massive helix of sorts. MDMC has horrendous restraints. Every time I ride, I also end up having bruising and grazing on my knees due to the stupid position you're held in. Not to mention the restraints aren't exactly the easiest to get in and out of. Jet Rescue is a much simpler version. It doesn't have the motorbike experience, but at least I don't get a dead leg. Finally, I would say Jet Rescue has the better themeing. As much as I love a good ride themed around racing, MDMC has been left at the starting gate. It desperately needs some TLC. Jet Rescue, with all it's campiness, is better because it doesn't look like its worn. Sea World obviously keep maintaining the ride. End of story, I can see why some may like it but MDMC is just a generally bad ride when compared to another of the same model, only a short drive away. With all that said though, I don't think that we should be petitioning to have it torn down. It's not exactly at the end of its life span, and it still draws some crowds.
  4. Wow, no one's ever thought of that... End of the day, we have the abomination that's MDMC and we have to live with that. We can't just pursuade Ardent to get rid of a ride that isn't exactly old to be shut down, just so a ride which is obviously not up to operating and safety standards to be re-opened.
  5. Am I reading that right? Online retail for Dreamworld? I wonder what that will entail...
  6. Looks like they're onto a winner here. The animatronics are looking great, the indoor exhibit looks wonderful and even the outdoor signing looks a lot better than Dinosaur Island's. Can't wait to get down there myself. Quick Question: For anyone that's been, what is the dragon? It's been really bugging me as I have absolutely no clue what it could be. .
  7. I see what you're saying and there's no reason to get angry. I was just sandboxing with what could happen to improve the ride. Honestly, I don't know what could be improved. I haven't been on enough indoor coasters to know what works and what doesn't.
  8. Firs things first, nice rebuttal. I can see where you are coming from. I just see that the original cartoon is known to a lot more people in the current day rather than the film in the 2000's. But what do I know, right? At the end off the day, the Scooby Doo name is known worldwide, and that's all they really need.
  9. LSD's the answer, I hope. There's no way they could make those shows while sane. All I remember is watching them on my mum's old VHS tape, and it felt like a fever dream. I'm sure they've got something planned. It'll just take time. Personally, I would love to see a flat ride or two there. It's something that a staple to any park and it's pretty sad that Sea World has none.
  10. Holy shit. RCT is real?! Anyway, here's all that I know from a quick Google... Operated on the German Fair circuit in 2003Moved to the Netherlands in 2008, but was never set upOperated at the 2011 Easter Show (No Citation. Believe at your own risk...)
  11. I'll be heading out to Dreamworld today. If there's anything you guys want me to check out, let me know!
  12. The exhibit looks great so far, and I can't wait to go out there. But I feel like Sea World is easily missing one of the best sea monsters out there...
  13. Holy Bat-Nipples Batman! I would much prefer the park to focus the rides theming on the cartoon rather than the live action property. The film hasn't really aged well or lasted in the zeitgeist. However, I wonder if WB even owns the rights to the cartoon. For a small theming change, would they have to go through a large legal debacle? Or could it be as simple as just swapping out some animatrioncs mannequins?
  14. Some flat set pieces around the room could look quite nice, especially if they are done in the classic Hannah-Barbera style.
  15. I'm looking forward to this. It already looks to be miles ahead of Dinosaur Island.
  16. Anyone else think the name "Inner City Rush 500" sounds pretty bad? For some reason I feel like it could pass as the name for those Daytona games at basically every bowling alley.
  17. When I saw the pictures of the Cyclone with the cow in the turbine, that's all I thought off. I don't remember the vibrating floors or misters, but I do have vague memories of LCD screens playing what looked to be a news report. Could be wrong though.
  18. I know this sounds bloody insane and in-probable but just hear me out for a second... Would it be possible to give the Cyclone a retracking similar to how RMC do theirs, where the pre-existing coaster supports are utilised to make a new coaster which follows a predominately similar layout? Now I know all of you are probably going to say "It's Dreamworld, it won't happen", "No way in hell", but can we just actually think about the logistics behind it? After seeing rides such as Twisted Colossus and New Texas Giant, it make me wonder if maybe Vekoma or Kumbak could give the Cyclone a new life somehow.
  19. Can't agree more. I love Superman because it's fast, it's forceful, and it has a whole heap of airtime. At the same time though, I love the Wipeout & Green Lantern because they do these weird, contorted moves at a relatively slow pace. If all MW had was "launched mega-lites" (like Superman), I wouldn't be mad but I would just love something else in the mix. I see it like my iPod. If I just had Red Hot Chilli Peppers, then I would start to get bored real quick. However, if I had a bit of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, a bit of Stevie Nicks, a bit of Jay-Z and a bit of Daft Punk, then I would be set for ages. It's all about balance, in essence.
  20. Hasn't stopped them before. AVPX in Ocean Parade, Tower of Terror in Tiger Island/Wiggles World, Oil Rig theming in Gold Rush, and let's not forget about MDMC in the themed area formerly known as Rivertown.
  21. Knowing Dreamworld, they would break up the car and class each individual part of the assembly as a unique attraction.
  22. That's sad that they were never all that good in the first place but in comparison to what we have now, I think it would be a welcomed improvement. The section about the Giant Drop also mentions a 3D Mammoth and Tar Pit. Anyone know that fate of those? I knew that they dedicate windows to various people that helped create and shape the park but I never know Sanderson Group had one dedicated to them. I'll have to check out all the windows next time I go and see just how many other people I can spot.
  23. I'm sure that some of us here have already seen this, but I found this to be quite interesting. For those that don't know, Sanderson Group have worked on many classic Aussie rides, such as the Bermuda Triangle and original set-up for Warner Bros Movie World. This page is basically a portfolio of some of their work, such as concept sketches for the Cyclone, theming for the Giant Drop, and the iconic Skull from the Tower of Terror. (https://web.archive.org/web/20070528145908/http://www.sandersongroup.com.au/asandframes.htm) I honestly find it quite weird to see that the Cyclone and Giant Drop were actually going to have some pretty nice and cohesive theming. What happened Dreamworld?
  24. Not sure if anyone's picked up on this yet, but in the monthly email from Dreamworld they mentioned "Motorsport ATTRACTIONS". Attractions, plural, as in more than one. Just because we get an exhibit doesn't mean that will be all. We may finally see MDMC given some love (or at least a bit of non-negative attention)
