Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced
Zanstabar replied to Cooper Olsen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
After a quick look on the Zamperla site, I have found a photo that looks remarkable similar to the vehicles in question. While it does look like a Tea Cup, it is located under Demolition Derby. Regardless, with the almost guaranteed rumour of the coaster being a Zamperla Family Coaster, those vehicles in question will not be suitable for it. -
Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced
Zanstabar replied to Cooper Olsen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Looks to be a Zamperla Tea Cup. I'm excited for this now. Looks like they might be trying to get rides that appeal to all members of the family. Even without kids, I know that I'll be repeat riding this because I'm a sucker for teacups. -

$17M wasn't much of a calculation, just an estimate really. Superman Escape was $16M and that was roughly 3 years after the park invested in Scooby Doo.

I will admit, the use of the word selfish was bad on my part. I think that adding in blackouts and a large price rise so abruptly would not be too good. People that already own a pass may not realise about the different changes until they are at the gates being turned away. Do I agree with blackouts? Yes. Do I agree with a higher price point? Yes. But where I can budget myself to buy a more expensive pass at the end of the financial year, not all guests can. This new option may entice return visitors with a seemingly lower or more manageable finance option, or bring in some families that may not find themselves able to fork out $400 or so for a trip to the parks. There is no denying that some of the previous users have been numbed by the lack of additions. A little while ago I did some calculations, and found that due to the law of averages, Movie World is due for a E-Ticket attraction around April next year (most likely June to coincide with holidays). Seeing as how long it's been since the last major investment in the parks, the creative team may have something up their sleeves to get people churning through the gates. For all we know, this lack of attractions could be a method of budgeting to get an attraction on the higher end of the financial spectrum ($17M?) rather than spending bargain bin prices. Because of this, they parks may be trying to get more entry options available so that rather than guests forking out $78 or $99 to experience this latest attraction, they could just pay $9 a month. Even asking some of my friends, if the parks added an attraction that appealed to them, they would jump on the $9 deal in a heartbeat. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that due to the lack of major additions in the last few years, it appears that the parks may be working on something big and in order to get as many possible guests through those gates as possible, a seemingly cheaper and more managable price point will get butts into seats. Some of there decisions are stupid, yet some others are genius. The original VIP pass brought so many people to the parks that normally wouldn't visit, yet there is always HSD2 sitting in the corner. I'm sure that if the team put their heads together and actually spent some time thinking about the future of the parks, as well as the present, then we might see changes for the better. Shall we just agree to disagree, cheering the parks on until the eventual "Go Orange, Go Apple, Go Banana" moment?
-
Not sure if it was your intention, but that came across a little selfish. While it would be busier at the parks, which is annoying, what we should be thinking about is that with this new pass broadening VRTP's potential user base, they in-turn receive more income. With the parks having more cash coming in, we can see the budget that the park's get to play with reach new limits. This could mean some more richly detailed experiences, or even a world-class coaster (like that dream Launched Inverted Flying Wooden Floorless Wingrider Dive Machine manufactured by B&M). VRTP aren't idiots. If it gets too busy, they know that people will get very annoyed, and therefore not visit the parks too often. They will find a way to manage a new influx of guests while maintaining a positive experience for the majority of guests. I'm actually very excited to see what comes next!

So from my understanding, for the price of Netflix a month we'll be able to get access to three theme parks? Sounds like a winner. Cheaper price, extra benefits, not to mention a higher overall income for VRTP ($99 for VIP, $108 for Unlimited).

SHOW US VIP PASS VANNA!

I'm going to get out on a limb here and say that the issues are related to the brand new site!

Found this on my Facebook news feed, and I can't seem to find anything about in on Theme Parks.com.au. Looks like this will be the new Gold Pass!

Was at Movie Park Germany, originally as Lethal Weapon but then Cop Car Chase after they lost the license. It's currently defunct. Most likely they had a hole through the soundstage during construction. It's definitely too bright for most natural lights as well as the fact you can make out what appears to be a palm tree in the distance. Seeing all these photos are a pretty big inspiration for me. I wonder if it's possible to find a copy of the original concept drawings or a design development record of some sort for Superman Escape, or even Scooby-Doo or Justice League for that matter. I would love to see how these projects have progressed from a simple idea to the E-Tickets we have today.

While crawling around the net I found some pretty cool photos of the design record for Superman Escape. The original photos can be found on the FX Illusions website. I find it really interesting to see the original drawings for most rides to see what could've been, and I'm I am going to regret saying this but I am honestly disappointed with what we have now. The whole ride doesn't feel like a train station, yet these final concept sketches make it appear like the ride was originally meant to be much more detailed. I wonder if Movie World would ever update SE to a higher level of detail? Also, would it be possible to move the Metropolis Square scene to the launch track? I just think if the whole dark ride section builds or crescendos to the launch track being an impending disaster zone, it would be much more effective than suddenly stopping in a corridor with a view of the storage area underneath the ride. Just my two cents...

Just received an email from VRTP regarding the new Discovery Trail. Not going to lie, if I was at still at the target age I would lap this up. The creatures of the deep have always intrigued me, and not to mention the artwork looks quite good.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I think I prefer the original attraction to what it is today. At least back then you had somewhat of a cohesive theme then the mess we have now.

Anything new happening at MovieWorld?
Zanstabar replied to Linus1995's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm probably going to get some slack for going against the grain, but I would prefer a wonderfully executed mine train in that area. Rather than having the typical layout, something that has enough forces and air-time for mature riders while still being approachable for the younger guests. When I went over the weekend, I had a peek at the new Chinatown gate. Sorry to burst the bubble, but it looks like a permanent addition. They could have easily executed a Gotham City alleyway in that area, as that would be a great transition between Main Street and Arkham Asylum IMHO. There's no excuse for why the Scooby-Arkham shortcut isn't open, though. This may be a bit stupid, but would it be possible that Movie World could make a series of "Multi-Purpose" rooms across the park to help with Fright Nights as well as other events? Think about it for a second, a perfectly sized indoor room that could be used as another maze location during FN, a children's activity centre during White Christmas, a food location or bar during Carnivale, then maybe a meet and greet or retail store during Summer. I then start to think that this may take up too much prime real estate in an already smaller park. -
I know that Scooby already has a pretty high capacity, but I wonder if there is anyway to improve it even further so that scenarios like that aren't even a possibility. Just a thought.

I don't know what it was, but while the park was busy all the staff were on duty and handled it well. As for queue times yesterday.. Superman: 15+ Scooby Doo: 30-45 Wild West Falls: 15 Justice League: 15+ Batwing: 30 (Single was 10) Arkham: Didn't see.

Just back from a trip to Movie World, and it was easily one of my best trips there ever. Let me start this by saying that the whole park looked fresh. Every building didn't look worn out and disheveled; it looked very well kept. Superman Escape: They were running two trains, which made the day a whole lot better. 15 minutes queues all day. Not to mention, all effects in the dark ride are operational. Subway station, pipes, walls and water are all fully functional. Scooby Doo: Everything was working, which really surprised me. I agree with some of the comments in the Scooby discussion that the track below the blades is almost invisible, which really adds to the effect. My first ride (around 1:00), the fog in the disco room was intense. You couldn't even see the lower sections of track. It was so filled that the fog even started to creep into the station. This wasn't the case at 3:00. While the fog was there, it wasn't as intense. Batwing: Since when has Batwing had a single rider queue? It makes this ride so much better. Now SE better pick up on it. Wild West Falls: Once again, fully operational. Really impressed to be honest. Couldn't name a single effect in the Ghost Town that wasn't working today. Justice League: Once again, everything was wonderful. One of my biggest complaints with this ride lately has been the state of the projections inside the mothership. They all seemed to be darker and toned down. This wasn't the case today. Bright enough to be clearly visible while dark enough to blend in with the scenery. Today was also the first time I've ever seen the Starro fog screen working. It's a pretty nice effect when they do have it working. One last thing, is the small eyeglass shaped sign above guest services a reference to The Great Gatsby? I noticed today that they had gotten a fresh coat of paint, and only then did it click how similarly they looked to the eyes of TJ Eckleburg.

What American Park do YOu most want to visit?
Zanstabar replied to POP's topic in Theme Park Discussion
SFMM for my. While I really do wanna visit all the parks on that list, SFMM just has so many rides that I've never even tried before. An Woodie, 4th Dimension, Stand-Up, Floorless, Swinging, B&M Invert, RMC, Flying, and a Gianvola Hyper to just name a few -
Wow! Thanks for that. I nice to finally hear about it in detail. I rode the original tower once when I was about 10 years old and I was terrified. I was crying and screaming throughout most of the queue so that whole experience was basically lost on me. Only thing I remember was the hang time on the original. Some much better than what we have now. Do you happen to remember where that photo was taken? It looks quite odd seeing a bright orange and blue colour scheme compared to the rusted earthy colours of the rest of the queue.
-
I know that the Tower of Terror has had some changes in the queue line over the years, but I was too young to remember them exactly. What have been some of the major changes in the queue line? For example, what was the room with the IT Sever Racks before the TOT2 Rehab? Or how about the room with the stairwell?

This may be a stupid idea, but would it be possible to have two sets of fog machines, each being in the 'high end'? For example, while Group 1 is at the 'high end', Group 2 is at the 'low end', and vice versa. While this may be more costly and technical in operations and maintenance, it could provide a more consistent appearance.

May be different last year, but in the two years I've had my pass I haven't had to get a new photo once. It may be wise to read the very bottom of the ticket PDF and see if it mentions whether you have to redeem it at a ticket booth.
