Ahh I see what you were saying. I think that idea for a pass would be better suited for Dreamworld, where upcharges almost out number coasters. I wouldn't mind the Discovery Passport being turned into a new version of the gold pass, and I don't think the site for it has been updated for a good couple of years
-
I would gladly pay $300 for a pass, but I don't think everything being inclusive would be best, That's just screaming "profit loss". Something a bit more reasonable for me would be access to special events (Maybe previews of Village Roadshow movies? Attraction Openings?) or other incentives around the park (e.g The VIP Food pass included, or a discount on all food and merch). That way, VRTP would still be making money, while the user of the pass would still feel satisfied.
-
Just a quick question, would anyone else pay extra for a upper-tier of VIP Pass? With this whole 'bargain bin' approach to the parks, I feel like I'm not really supporting them. Sure, $75 and a free general admission is bloody fantastic, but I feel that a more expensive pass targeted towards the right audience could be great for the growth of the parks.
-
I'm in the exact same position. I love my Gold Pass, and although cheaper passes and a free general admission is a great perk, I'm gonna be livid if I renew with this deal then suddenly a deal with the gold pass pops up. I wonder if sending a email might give some insight to whether there are any future deals...

Hong Kong has been on my "bucket list" for a while now, along with Singapore and Britain. I look forward to seeing how your trip has gone! Might end up swaying me to go travelling again...

Anyone feel that with Fury Road being released this year, a Mad Max themed area at Movie World would be awesome? Realistically speaking, MW currently doesn't have the space, but I feel like it's a great theme for a coaster or even a whole land!

The Parkz Update Aussie World, April 2015

I wonder what constituted the change from "Rock 'n' Roll Rebel" to "Dark Rebel". Just wanted a refresh? -
Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced

I agree with you to almost every detail, themeparkgc. A boardwalk theme could play homage to Australia's history of seaside amusement parks. Don't think the carousel would need to be moved, but I whole heartedly agree to Flying Scooters and a Wave Swinger. There's just something really magical about gliding over gardens and near water that is just fantastic, especially when the sun starts to set. Also, I think they should redo the Surf Shop into something a bit "younger". Maybe a toy store? As for the Spongebob license, I'm 50/50. I think it's great to use what they've got, but if it's half-assed then it's not going to do the park any favours. A rocking tug would be a great addition, but what about a Demolition Derby? They look like they could be really quite fun if done right. An 80STD would be nice, but my heart wants something a bit bigger (I gotta remember that I'm not the target audience in this new addition). One last thing, what about a Mack Sea Storm? Looks like a fun twist on a classic fairground ride. -
I think he's referring to the actual acceleration. Superman Escape has been recorded as hitting 100km/h in two seconds TOT2 has been recorded at 160.9km/h in seven seconds. I do agree however, the TOT launch doesn't really do anything for me. It just feels like a car accelerating down the highway. SE ,on the other hand, feels like I'm being shot out of the barrel of a gun.

I agree with Brad. It's a matter quantity or quality.

The wait at the top of GD is definitely what makes me prefer it towards some of the newer drop towers. IMHO Those 40 or so seconds where everyone is tense as to when it will drop really adds to the rush when it does, rather than just dropping once you reach the top. As you could probably tell, GD is my favourite with the Disney TOT coming in a very close second.

2015 in Dreamworld - ABC Kids World, V8 Supercars and more
Zanstabar replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It would be cool, but very costly / impractical, etc. If GD was to get some sort of makeover, ALA TOT2, I would love to see if it would be possible to get the Falcon's Fury style gondola (which pitches riders down to face the ground). -
Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced

What about themeing? Currently I agree in saying that it looks really bland and depressing. I would love see it have a "Paradise Pier" esque appearance, but I think they might stick with the generic kids themeing. -

I kinda hope it's something like the new Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure that recently opened at Alton Towers. Looks like a nice, fun, compact family coaster. -
Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced

I would love to see this new kids area to implement some rides for all ages of the family. One thing that annoys me when I go to the parks with family is that the kids areas always feels a bit exclusive. Some family rides such as a chairswing couldn't go wrong. -

When they say "Mini Rollercoaster", does anyone else get a bit of a "Wacky Worm" vibe? -

Sounds good, but first things first, what's the source? -
Hi everyone! I was reminiscing about some old trips I had made to some parks and started to wondering what everyone else's best experiences in the parks were? I know that mine was on my first trip to Disneyland. I was about 8 and knew ghosts didn't exist thanks to extensive watching of Scooby Doo on Saturday mornings. However, the Haunted Mansion completely blew my mind. I knew they didn't exist, I knew they weren't real, but I just couldn't explain to myself how they did it. Ever since then I've been constantly learning about how they produced the effects and the physics behind them. Anyone else have any amazing experiences they would like to share?

I think that since the high standard set by rides such as Justice League and Storm, we've become a bit expectant of a certain level of themeing. I really hope that one day we might see some of the ride queues have a better designed queue, such as Superman's Beige Box. If it doesn't happen one day, I wouldn't be mad but if it does I would think that the rides would be better off. Also, with the Justice League characters, I'm sure it had something to do with the number of scenes in relations to characters. If every JL character was included, I'm pretty sure that superheroes would outnumber Starro Spores.

Was messing around on Youtube Doubler and it got me thinking; imagine how awesome Superman Escape could be if they had on-board audio? (If it is actually maintained, that is) http://youtubedoubler.com/f1Pg

I gotta say, last night was amazing. I didn't go to Carnivale last year but I am so glad I decided to give it a try. After a completely horrendous week, Carnivale made me forget all my issues, and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one that felt this way. The whole energy of the event was so infectious that everyone had a smile on there face, even some of the ride op's as they macarenaed down Main Street before the parade. The food was some of the best food I've had at a park, especially with price, taste and portion size factored in. My bowl of Jambalya was only $10 and tasted heavenly. I know I'd take that over a $16 Prime Burger anyday! As with what Joz was saying, there were so many magical little moments. While I was wandering down Main Street, a child's face was in complete awe as the "Pyromaniac Clown" licked a stick of fire. It almost felt like the number of performers were equal to the number of guests. It was just wonderful. My only real complaints are just the order of some things, such as the plaza area. It just felt so cramped with all the stalls that people couldn't really queue or even move through at times. Also, "Electric Light Parade"? Really?
-
For those that did go, how have the queues been? Is Fast Track a necessity?

Anyone know if this is going to be on the Sea Viper side of the river or if they're just using it as a rest point? I also can't beleive I'm saying this but I'm kind of excited for this. Dinosaur Island was a great attraction for kids, but it didn't fit Sea Worlds style. Now that this is coming in, I think it will do wonderfully.

What's your favourite type of theme park?
Zanstabar replied to AUSTHEMEPARKS's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I would have to say heavily themed. I love a theme park where I feel like I'm no longer in the real world, but on some sort of adventure or journey
