  1. Without knowing the sort of budget they’re allocating to the relocation my gut feel is this is going to be closer to Green Lantern than Leviathan in terms of theming. I hope I’m wrong though!
  2. Removing the smoking area entirely would be a welcome improvement.
  3. It’s a shame as a Star Flyer is pretty much perfect for the park, but choosing an inferior model will hurt in the long run.
  4. It looked like there was some additional roaming entertainment over the weekend but it'd be hard to recommend visiting MW before April. A lot of capacity is out of action and it will only take some unscheduled downtime on DCR or WWF to really limit the available options for a park day.
  5. The “tail” is its own piece as well right? Does that make Leviathan the only coaster with a “trailing” car?
  6. So is Expedition GeForce but nobody is suggesting Holiday Park is anything other than regional. It’s not an insult, it’s just a classification of the scale of a park and the budgets they have to work with.
  7. Yes. The parks do well with what they have but there’s nothing on the level of Efteling or Busch Gardens, let alone Disney/Universal.
  8. Enjoyed Carnivale this evening, pretty similar to previous years but obviously a stronger ride selection on offer. Enjoyed the dusk ride on Leviathan - the preshow works well when it’s dark outside. Food offerings seemed a little more limited, tried the shrimp bowl which was great and had a generous helping of prawns. Everything else was fairly standard theme park fare. I definitely miss the seafood chowder and key lime pie of years past. Can’t fault the atmosphere, plenty of music and entertainment around. Former parade floats make for a decent scenic addition to the gardens. Even the (retired) AOS elephant made an appearance. The Aqua Light Show was a highlight. It’s not the most innovative or sophisticated use of fountains and fireworks but this show is pretty great for a regional park. Performers were giving 100% even at the third show of the night. It’s a great use of the lagoon and gives the crowd a high to finish the night (even if some of them might still be waiting to exit the carpark…) While I’m not sure I’d pay $69 for a ticket Carnivale is a great inclusion in the annual pass and we’ll happily attend and drop our cash on food & drinks each year.
  9. Finally got the chance to ride Leviathan today. The ride itself is fantastic, probably one of Gravity Group’s better coasters, and the theming is quite well done. The preshow isn’t always 100% effective depending on what else is happening in the station but overall it works well. As many have noted there’s definitely room to improve operations and dispatch times. Hopefully the park focus on this as even a short queue seems to end up with quite a long wait, rather odd for a ride with such simple boarding procedures. My only real gripe was seeing a couple of off-duty park staff (in uniform) being let in via the fast track queue with a few of their mates, pretty poor when it happens right in front of paying guests. Given these guys had to turn their park polos inside out to board the ride it’s unlikely to have been a paid tour. Not a good look, hope it doesn’t happen often.
  10. Serpent Slayer being sandblasted within an inch of its life today. Also the theming on Candy Flyer seems incredibly cheap, hopefully it’s just temporary.
  11. If Surfrider is indeed destined for Superman’s helix, has anyone thought about the poor displaced smokers? Where will they go now? 😆
  12. Ocean Parade will soon include the Kung Fu Panda creek. 💦
  13. I suppose a leviathan could be considered a type of sea serpent... 😜
  14. That’s interesting to learn, I do remember much more haze a decade ago, music was much louder too. Hopefully the redo sees MXPX blasting in our ears once more.
  15. Several years ago I rode Prater's Insider and remember thinking "oh this is what Scooby could have been like with more than two lasers". It's basically another Mack in a box but with a much more liberal use of lighting and lasers, for a far more effective result. Here's a video, though it's definitely more impressive in person.
  16. Sounds like the recent round of maintenance was just enough to get it through the school holidays. Here's hoping they remove the underwhelming screens and add more lighting effects in the wild mouse room.
  17. It’s clickbait pure and simple, people love a bit of disaster porn and theme park “incidents” are low hanging fruit for media outlets. Does not matter if it’s a ride e-stop or the hot dog cart running out of sauce, drama attracts eyeballs and consequently these stories pay their way on the web. As others have noted here, best to ignore, anyone with half a brain can figure out these “journalists” are exaggerating for the sake of clicks and there’s no substance beyond a hyperbolic headline.
  18. Completely off-topic but it's always surprised me that VRTP haven't done anything inside the Superman helix, even something as simple as some city/skyscraper facades to really sell the "Superman is flying you through the city" idea.
  19. A Mack Big Dipper along the lines of Lost Gravity would be my pick. That ride is criminally underrated!
  20. $69 is pretty steep for an event primarily about selling people food. That said, all VRTP pricing is aimed at selling annual passes so most people are probably getting in that way. I've always enjoyed Carnivale for what it is, fingers crossed Leviathan's operations a running well for some night rides.
  21. JL3D and Doomsday today’s unscheduled outs. Not posted outside but showed up on the website bang on park opening… 🤔
  22. Some commentary has been added: "Temporary closure for minor rectifications and enhancements" I guess we'll see how temporary this closure is but really underlines how valuable soft openings/technical rehearsals are for new rides. Sea World should at least remove the "Leviathan - Ride It Now" branding from their homepage until the ride is back up. It's definitely misleading and as much as VRTP love money I have a hard time believing they're deliberately trying to trick people into coming to the park only to be disappointed.
  23. Twist Coaster Robin begs to differ. At least Leviathan managed a second day of operations.
  24. Honestly the park should be offering free return passes for anyone visiting while the new rides are closed. Minimal cost and much better PR than “oh sorry we hoped they would be open but oh well…”
