  1. It'll be the same useless offers they roll out to passholders from time to time. Discounted helicopter flights, free breakfast at the Sea World Resort, partner offers for Stan etc. I can't see them doing anything substantial.
  2. Would it have been a good move to have a soft opening? Yes. Is it unexpected for a new ride to have teething issues? Absolutely not. When I travel I always consider it a bonus to be able to experience a new ride in its opening season. I reckon maybe a third of “new for this year” attractions have been out of action for me in the months after their official launch date. If Leviathan is still having these issues in six months’ time then we have a problem. But on opening weekend… nothing to see here.
  3. What's confusing me is why this needs to be linked to NFTs at all. If VRTP want to have some sort of park fan club upcharge offering surely they can just do that on its own?
  4. I wonder what units are used to measure iconicness.
  5. Same, we used to do it twice a visit at $10/15, then down to once a visit when it hit $20, now it's a yearly treat. So instead of getting $20-30 off me each visit VRTP now get $30 once a year.
  6. $30 is no surprise but similar to Taipan’s spinning seats will be a one and done for me. Expect that row to be empty on 9 out of 10 trains, it’s too expensive for an impulse buy and I doubt it’s anywhere near as thrilling as Rivals’ back row.
  7. Alpine coasters tend to be fairly low capacity, wouldn't a family spinner or woodie be a better fit?
  8. I'm roughly your height and used to be around 140kg, at that weight there were definitely rides that were a no go for me. Based on past experience, some observations: - Jet Rescue and Scooby really depend on how big your thighs are, less so the midsection. Back row of Scooby has a little more room. Motocoaster is similar, seems to be ok as long as the restraint can hit the lock position over your legs. - Green Lantern and Gold Coaster have quite generous restraints and should be fine. Storm Coaster and Shockwave might also be alright. Even at my heaviest I could ride Wild West Falls though that was with the old boats. - Pandamonium, TailSpin, Batwing, Tower of Terror, Superman and Madagascar all come down on your midsection and aren't always friendly to bigger riders. Of these TailSpin is probably the loosest fit. - The Claw is tight even for average-sized people. Being on the shorter side can make it easier to fit, slide back in the seat as far as possible and cross your legs if need be. Wear "stretchy" pants and empty your pockets, this will help. Fortunately all of the parks have things to see and do outside of the rides so you can still have a great day regardless. Enjoy your trip!
  9. Some selfie/photo ops would be a reasonable replacement, probably more popular with guests as well!
  10. The park could definitely use some kind of "movie making" experience, even if it's not a studio tour-style attraction. Universal's special effects or horror movie makeup shows come to mind. Bollywood Park Dubai has a smaller-scale version of this sort of thing that might be more suited to Movie World. I enjoy the movie showcase but it could definitely be relocated if they wanted to use the theatre for its original purpose.
  11. Surfrider to Gumbuya, Australia’s home of unloved rides 😆
  12. Even if (and it's a massive if) the business case for an Australian park stacked up, I can't see Disney buying Dreamworld instead of doing a greenfields build. On the other hand, Dreamworld becoming Legoland Australia is entirely possible, as Merlin have "converted" parks before. There will absolutely be more Disney cruises coming to Australia. They seem to have sold very well, and it wouldn't surprise me if one or two of the older ships are permanently based in the Western Pacific to serve Asia and Australia going forward.
  13. Based on the description "theme park" seems a very generous description. This looks like a selection of Instagram-friendly photo ops with a few simple games and a 4D theatre. Will wait and see but I'll definitely be going in with low expectations.
  14. Of the handful I’ve ridden, the Gravity Group woodies seem to hold up pretty well - possibly due to the lighter and more nimble Timberliner trains. Providing the park keeps up maintenance Leviathan should still run nicely over time.
  15. According to https://7news.com.au/news/vic/woman-injured-on-melbourne-royal-show-rebel-coaster-ride-c-8351970 it seems the injured person was trying to retrieve her phone. Still a horrible accident but doesn’t appear to be a ride fault.
  16. Good grief. Does any park on the planet have as much unscheduled downtime as Movie World? Not a huge deal for those of us with passes but I feel terrible for the family that’s dropping $400+ on entry tickets only to find half the park closed.
  17. People are unhappy but still buying tickets so the park has no reason to worry. It’s the Qantas approach to customer service!
  18. Clearly the park is at fault, there's not even a sign telling guests to leave their clothes on during the ride! 🙄
  19. Agree with this. It is a unique ride and an "interesting" get for enthusiasts but doesn't offer much else. There are plenty of other rides which would be a better fit as a medium thrill coaster.
  20. I don't mind another original creation, will see how it turns out but sometimes it seems like too much budget goes into the licenses rather than the mazes.
  21. If we’re going for a B&M, why not a dive coaster? Something like Baron 1898 is probably about the right scale and price, and would complement Steel Taipan in the lineup. Personally I’d love Vekoma Bermuda Blitz. Lech Coaster is very, very good for its size and offers a lot of bang for buck.
  22. Overall it's a disappointing announcement. They've had three years to think about how to make this event better and have come back with these warmed up leftovers. Will wait and see what the new mazes are but if they're as rumoured then that seems very similar to what's come before. I'll still go as it's included in the membership but probably wouldn't be spending $99 on a ticket otherwise.
  23. Shame the Ultimate Terror Tour isn't back, that was what made the event for us. Hopefully the maze quality is bumped up to match the increase in prices, 2019 was a fairly lazy effort.
  24. Having been on several of these in the last month, they definitely have their own share of issues. Blank screens and quiet/missing audio aren't uncommon. And half the projectors are turned off as they've done away with the 3D effect, so it's impossible to aim at the targets properly. Doesn't excuse the sorry state of JL3D but the Six Flags counterparts aren't in pristine shape either, despite being relatively newer.
  25. It seems like school holidays are the only worthwhile time to visit Movie World these days. The rest of the year too many rides are under maintenance simultaneously. Prior to the BGH buyout it was rare for more than one major ride to have scheduled downtime at once but not so much these days.
