  1. When I went to France last year I didn't actually go to any of the theme parks. There's so much more you can do, especially if this is your first trip to France. You need to make sure you have a lot of extra time for sightseeing because it's an amazing country. While I'm not saying don't go to theme parks, just make sure there's time for everything else.
  2. Very nice find! What I'm interested in is the switch track to what I've always assumed is the maintenance bay, seen in the photo below. Is it just me or does that lead outside? Or was that hole in the wall there just for construction purposes? Another image of what I think is the same place, just a different angle, you can definitely see light streaming in:
  3. I know, I screen shotted it and uploaded it to my imgur account Comes from here: http://www.listchallenges.com/100-best-roller-coasters-in-the-world There are a lot of mistakes on the page though...
  4. Last year when I renewed they just put a sticker on it and let us walk off. Did they change it? Not gonna renew this year, the rest of the year is big for me and I don't really have the time to do too many theme-parks. Hopefully will be back into it though next year (might even go the dreamworld route if they do some good things this year/next year)
  5. Just found this... That's actually kinda offensive to me... not sure about anyone else
  6. Have you ever had a really nice ride op? A really mean one? I've met ride ops that are really bubbly and speak a lot to the public and stuff. They really make a difference to ride experiences. I also met a ride op who was pretty bad today running superman. He got angry at me because I had a small piece of tissue in my pocket, about the size of my fingernail, and it apparently counted as a loose item. He was incredibly slow at sending people to the batch doors and loading, and he even decided that it would be nice to split up groups just so the whole train was full. He split my brother and I up, but a nice guy in a group of three decided to sit a few rows back from his friends so we could ride together. Fortunately, there aren't too many people like this, and most ride ops are friendly. Have you ever met really good/bad ride ops? What made them this way?
  7. Well I rode scooby doo today, and it was amazing, I haven't seen the ride like this for years. As soon as I left the station, I realised something was different. There was nearly no light, except for the lights on the animatronics and theming. Usually you can easily see the track going under the swinging axes, but today I couldn't see anything but the axes, and the camera flash was pretty blinding, unlike what I had experienced in the past. Then when I got to the top of the elevator... wow. The whole disco room was covered in fog, you could barely see the track infront of you. There were lasers flashing all over the room. They really have brought this back to life. It was so amazing seeing all the fog and lights, it made a great difference to the ride. MW seem to be stepping back up it seems.
  8. Never was a part of it, but I know how important it was and I'm really hoping they find another way to get feedback from the public. It really was the only way people could voice their opinions.
  9. I guess revolution is a classic, they probably want to hold onto it for as long as possible. I saw this story a few days ago, and I'm almost certain it was a pre-existing condition and the ride didn't have any problems. She just shouldn't have ridden in the first place.
  10. Didn't someone say it was going to be a completely new attraction?
  11. Still dreaming for something like Intimidator 305 or Top Thrill Dragster... My dreams will never come true though...
  12. GUYS THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THE QUEUES ARE HALF AN HOUR LONG. I'VE NEVER SEEN THEM THAT LONG THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG.
  13. I've always wanted to do a giant theme park trip around the US. Something like this would be my dream holiday: Disneyland/Disney CA/Knotts/Universal Hollywood/SFMM -> Kings Island -> Cedar Point -> SF New England -> SF Great Adventure -> Kings Dominion -> Busch Gardens Williamsburg Maybe or maybe not with Orlando at the end, but I'd need quite a bit more time to tackle those parks on top of these. But not gonna be able to afford it any time soon, and I don't really have anyone to go with since my family wouldn't be too eager to do something like this
  14. tbh I never really see GL with really long queues, even when superman and other rides are an hour+ max i've seen it was an hour and a half i think just after it opened, but that doesn't really count since all new rides are like that
  15. Can you please shut up about Dreamworld getting a B&M. I'm pretty sure they'll go for a Eureka refurbishment way before a B&M. If you want a park to get a B&M, go live in America or somewhere but this is Australia and you're not going to get one any time soon. Also a lot more people than you think care about Eureka. It was a classic ride and it isn't just the enthusiasts who care about it. And as people said, don't lose hope. They might not be doing it this year, but they could drop the bomb that they're opening it on us in a few year's time once we've forgotten about this. Andrew, your pessimism is really getting annoying. Please try to hold in negative thoughts because they really aren't helping. Don't speak for other people when you don't know it's correct as well.
  16. Seems Aussie world needs to update their ballroom blitz page...
  17. ... ... okay that might be too over the top... a dragon???
  18. wow these creatures are huge - especially that whale! very realistic
  19. I will have to say while tower shaking is great, the wait and the tension at the top of the GD is almost as good as the actual drop section for me. But yeah ive only ridden the giant drop (unless batwing counts which I doubt).
  20. Yeah, pretty much if you want a. Good quality rides, but not as many of them - head to movieworld b. Lots of rides, but not as good quality as movieworld - dreamworld is your place Another thing to consider is if you want rollercoasters or flat rides - movieworld is full of rollercoasters and dreamworld is full of flat rides. I find that during the school holidays, movieworld could easily take a whole day as queues can be very long, and you might want to do a few rides more than once. During quieter times you can often do most rides at least one time in a few hours. Walk-ons are pretty common on the less thrilling coasters during these quieter times, and even thrill rides sometime. The coasters at MW are very good quality, however flat rides are pretty limited here if you're after those. Green lantern is also currently closed because of the accident so that might not be open when you go. If you're looking for good thrills, superman, arkham asylum and batwing are very good thrill machines, with wild west falls and scooby doo providing less extreme thrills and more of a laugh instead of a scream. Dreamworld can get you a full day of fun during off-peak or peak season. I went on new-year's day a few years ago and most rides were walk-ons or maximum 15 minute waits, with the exception of the rapids and log flume which were probably about half an hour each. However, I managed to fill the whole day easily, and I did most rides a couple of times. From what I've seen, Dreamworld doesn't seem to be as busy as MW either. A year and a half ago I also managed to get one ride of giant drop, tower of terror, buzzsaw, cyclone, and two rides of wipeout at DW (these are some of the bigger thrill rides), then I had lunch, moved over to white water world and did the wedgie twice, supertubes, and RIP, and that all ended by about 1:30. I got quite a bit in, considering the limited time I had (this was in off-peak season though). Dreamworld's rides aren't as well-themed and are arguably more rough and less-maintained. They have two full-circuit rollercoasters (which both have been discussed as not being too great) and two smaller shuttle rollercoasters, but they also have a wide variety of flat rides which is nice. Wet n Wild and White Water World are both good water parks, but WnW is definitely the bigger and has more thrilling slides. However since you are heading here in winter, I will warn you that you can get quite cold at the water parks. The slides are heated nicely, but waiting at the top of the towers with little clothing can be hell, especially if it's windy! The dreamworld/whitewater world combo is very good, because there is a gate that connects two parks and I believe it's cheaper than the other parks' combo tickets. When I used this it was very worth-while. Movieworld and Wet n Wild are pretty much next door to eachother, but you still have a bit of a walk outside the park to get between them. I myself have never done a MW/WnW combo. Sea World is probably a 15-20 minute drive from Movie World, so I don't reccomend doing MW/WnW and SW in one day. Seaworld is where you go for animal experiences and stuff, not for thrill rides. They have the jet rescue which is a good thrill ride, and the storm coaster which is still a thrill ride but not too extreme, on top of the log flume which isn't as good or as thrilling as movieworld's flume. If you're after thrills I don't reccomend going here but the animal attractions are very nice at SW. It's really your choice, but as said above you need to remember that you can't do MW and DW together unless you're prepared to fork out the money for individual admission to both parks instead of saving money with a combo pass. Dreamworld is where you go for quantity, but if you want quality, but not much of it, head over to movieworld. That's my summary. Enjoy your trip and feel free to ask me more questions and I'll try to answer them! (MW is movieworld, DW is dreamworld, WnW is wet n wild, SW is sea world, WWW is white water world)
  21. Don't think it's going any time soon... it's not even that old. Yeah good luck trying to get them to buy one of them... The newer members are always the same... wanting those B&Ms when in reality the day DW do get a B&M would be equivalent the day when disney open a park in Australia... *sigh*
