  1. And they’ve proven with their Happy Halloween event that the night events are extremely popular with the park. But because they have the night markets, it isn’t as simple to add a random Park After Dark event whenever they want now. Last year, the night markets didn’t happen for the entire month of October due to Halloween. So if they wanted to do a Park After Dark again, it would probably have to be announced months in advance.
  2. It doesn’t seem so. They do reference the night makers on the events page
  3. This is a no from me. I get why the builders want to do this, like they would on every other job site. The stickers were fine, having a site sign indicating who the builder is and the safety requirements and so on is a requirement, so of course that has to be fine. But slapping this massive signs isn’t a great look. They should’ve done something a lot more tasteful like they did for Steel Taipan. Still listing the builder, manufacturer and so on for the project, which I think was accessible. I especially don’t like the one on the same walls as the stickers that’s just been pinned to the side. Is any new information indicated in the article from GCB?
  4. I found on the Badge Construction Groups website that they are tendering for trades until the end of this month and it provides a description of the scope of the construction works. https://app.estimateone.com/s/badge-qld/stage/292336 It also indicates that the theming elements for the precinct will be supplied by Pico Play, who have worked on a number of theme parks and attractions throughout the country and overseas. And not sure if an exact dollar amount has been mentioned before, but its expected to be $10-$15 million. Because the construction company is tendering, we could see significant works begin in the next few months.
  5. @Slick genuine question, were you a part of the team that designed the print for that wall?
  6. In regards to the wall, I think it’s great the park has actually gone to the effort of constructing something while the works happen, rather than just putting up the standard construction fencing we’ve been seeing for many many years. I’ve always wanted our parks to follow in Disney and Universals footsteps when it came to construction site walls, so well done to the park for actually investing in this. It would be great to see the parks do this more often where viable. For example, I could give DW a pass for the Dreamland works because it’s a phased process and the walls are being moved around every few weeks/months depending on the attraction. But the fact they’ve gone to the effort of designing and putting up a wrap advertising whats to come is great to see. While at MW with the construction of Wizard of Oz, they should be constructing a wall at the start of the site and promoting the precinct because that wall will be there for a couple of years (from when it first went up). And while the stickers at DW do seem a last minute addition, I do think a more prominent wrap/signage advertising the attraction or creating a photo opportunity would’ve been a much better option to see
  7. Generally, when parks say Summer *insert year it means December. August 2022 to December 2024 is 2+ years.
  8. Because the ride has been closed since August last year
  9. @Slick hopefully it’s a temporary location and this was just where it was moved too after it was removed from Main Street. Maybe it’s going to be taken off site for refurbishment and this was an easy place to temporarily place it for trucks/cranes to access.
  10. I think it’s great. The characters have been a part of the park for so long, it’s great to see they’re using them to be part of its identity and marketing.
  11. Dreaming of a winter wonderland these school holidays? Glistening snow, toasty European food and all the seriously slippery fun of ice-skating and tobogganing? Well, look no further because WINTERFESTis back at Dreamworld these school holidays and it's BIGGER, BETTER and more BRRR-ILLIANT than ever before! Pull on your best beanie and warmest scarf and treat the family to some new wintry memories, right here on the Gold Coast. Enjoy ice-skating on our full-size Ice Rink, or squeal with glee as you slide down our giant Ice Slide. And to warm up, we've got a mouth-watering selection of European eats and treats that is sure to fill the tummy and warm the soul! There has never been a COOLER time to visit!
  12. I think that was a quick and cheaper solution rather than digging it all up and doing ground works when they didn’t know what the future attraction would be. More effective to properly remove it when the time comes to construct a new ride. And what they’ve done is much better than leaving it visible to everyone when you walk past.
  13. I definitely think it can be done by the end of 2024. We don’t know the timeline of when ABC Kids World will close, so it could be closing when the Play School Wheel is scheduled to close for maintenance. Maybe when Dreamland is officially open, that’s when ABC Kids World closes, so we could see demolition begin before the end of the year, with new construction beginning first thing next year.
  14. So you think the Rivertown opening will be delayed? Because their announcement said it was opening in 2024. Adding to this, my guess would be the Candy Flyer and Soaring Swing will close after Kenny’s Treetop Flyer opens or after the September school holidays to make way for the Big Red Boat coaster
  15. I’d say the last couple rides left will stay there for the summer holidays, but as soon as they’re over, that entire area will close (I don’t know that for fact, just my thoughts)
  16. Considering the ride is scheduled for maintenance from early October to early December, I’d expect we’d see the ride relocated during this time
  17. But if they did that, they would need it to have a one year expiry date because if it was only a month, there is a chance just as many rides would still be closed. And if people have travel interstate or internationally, a free day wouldn’t cut it because that would mean there would be need to pay for flights, accommodation, etc. If this is discount offer is still current, then it’s definitely good they do that. But most people are buying tickets online before they’re visit, so what are they getting as compensation.
  18. GCB also posted an article about it https://bit.ly/41Mkm2H
  19. They currently have 8 attractions closed. Some of which are unplanned maintenance, but if they aren’t sorted soon, they’ll have 9 closed from Monday. Making Superman the only coaster open and Batwing and Justice League the only two major rides left, other than a couple kids rides.
  20. Attraction signage is ready to be installed, the ride photo structure has returned and the winch and platform that was used to complete works on the tower have been removed
  21. The floor of the sea planes ride has been painted And the fence of the carousel has been replaced
  22. School holidays are just under 6 weeks away. It could be possible, but we would need to see the supports/column appear on site this week, be built in a week, then a week or two for electrical and setting up the systems, then that gives 3 weeks for testing and commissioning. If they really want the ride open for the Winter holidays, it might be possible, but I wouldn’t count on it
