Dreamworld Updated Park Map - 2023
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
My understanding is they will be removed and rebuilt. Based off the concept artwork (I know, you can’t alway trust them), but the cars show are completely different to the ones now. Similar to the new train carriages, I’m expecting there to be new cars with a safety system (door/gate) in place so people can’t just jump out of the cars. And with the attraction getting a whole new name, even thought they’ll likely still be referred to as the vintage cars by guests, I see this a new reimagining and version of the attraction, not just like a relocation like it was when it went from the front of the park to the back -

@New display name how much would the new kids coaster cost? Obviously depends on the model they go with, but say it’s the bigger model of the Zamperla Powered Coaster, are they a million (that’s including ground works, etc)? -

That’s underselling it. That’s also for the splash pad, refurbishing the entire stage/seating, pathways, retheming and a lot of licks of paint -
Dreamworlds path/future of attractions to come needs to be carefully thought through. They need to make sure they are reliable attractions, but will also be popular for people of all ages. One or two more attractions focusing on the thrill seeker market would be great. But with the poor financial situation they were in, they can’t just go and buy new rides to lift the attraction count up (which is what they were doing and look how that turned out). I’m all for a couple more flat rides to increase the count, but they need to be very well considered and have evidence throughout the world they are reliable. They can’t risk doing a Six Flags and buy a manufacturers newest ride because it could be a lemon.

According to the wait times website, it’s now open with a 45 minute wait? And Trident has gone up to 60.

Managed to find a park map from early 2005 and can confirm it was indeed called Buccaneer Bay

Dreamworld Updated Park Map - 2023

And attractions like Dreamworld Flyer will do exactly that. Second to Jungle Rush, the Dreamworld Flyer is the attraction is what I’m most excited for out of all the announcements they made. It’s going to transform the front of the park. And when they open the doors to the park they should just have it testing, so it adds energy as soon as you walk in. The jet stunt show they had in the fountain over the summer added so much energy to the front of the park it was fantastic to see. And while I’ll miss the fountain for the nostalgia of it, I’d much rather this attraction. I’m just hoping they blow us away with the presentation of it, so it blends in with its environment. -
Dreamworld Updated Park Map - 2023

They don’t actually show the aviary, Tasmanian Devils or Twilight Trail illustrated on the map. The older maps from a couple years ago were the same illustrated style, so they could easily copy and paste it over to the new one. To fill out the listing a bit more they could split it up into the areas/lands like they used to and include food outlets and stores. Because some people may look at this map and think the park doesn’t have as much as it used to. -
It’s been like that for a while, but it still states they’re closed under the attraction information

Dreamworld Updated Park Map - 2023

The building is still there, but it hasn’t operated as a restaurant since Covid, maybe even a year or two before that. And the Gold Coaster/Hot Wheels/Cyclone has always been drawn like that -
Dreamworld have updated the printable park map on their website. Adding the grids and adding the list of attraction with height requirements and small description is good to see and should be very helpful for guests.

Buccaneer Bay was mostly a completely new development for this area of the park. The toboggans were removed and the area was replaced by the tipping bucket/play structure. The remaining shallow pool area was roughly where the old kids play area was, but I don’t think it ever had a theme, other than having a volcano
-
I remember this area too. It had the volcano with a couple small slides coming from it, the mushroom fountains and a few other things in a shallow body of water. This was the only photo online I could find that sort of shows it
-
Until the next image update it’s hard to exactly know what’s happening here, but it could be related to the additional of 2000 solar panels.
